im not sure it was a mistake. clapton is one of the best soloists of his time (and ever). I could see it being either a mistake or a pause to move back into the main tune. It could go either way

Actually it was a pretty big mistake because it was an important transition to the main tune. It surprised me too when i first listened to hit, thought maybe it was on purpose but that cant be the case. Ah well, he's still god, everyone can make mistakes.

to be honest music isnt music without mistakes all this modern stuff with autotuned voices that are pitch perfect ar'nt true musicians, true music is with mistakes and a slightly undertuned giutar and a different voice evertime as that is normal. i think i have a case of the blues :)
