apache on floats flys almost as good as a jenny(curtiss) on 3 good cylinders!! Can you really do a single engine water landing,,safely that is? I really remember a flight review in FLYING magazine in 1960ish that said : you can count rate of descent on one motor, NO level flight at gross weight. I like the vid!
Yeah but in Holland you can smoke weed legally. What do you rather see, a 'dolly take off' or drugged out people? Whatever it takes to become airborne, and that's all performed by trained people on a legitimate runway.
no, the apache has 150hp engines, 160hp engines and a 180hp engine STC. Seeing the cowling of the plane in this video, I am guessing it has the 180hp STC because that specific cowling is another STC from the same company that makes the 180hp STC.
@FlightLevelHeaded - Yer killin' me!! HAW!! I've flown the Apache. It has two engine so that, if you lose one, the other one can get you to the scene of the crash on time.
The Apache has 150hp a side which I think this one has, but there is an STC for 180hp a side which would make this a much better aircraft. The Aztec on floats has 250hp a side which really performs. I love the Aztec on floats, kind of like a mini beech 18, except the tail of course.
looks like it has a much lower landing and stall speed that reg gear, floats dont really detract from performance as much as you'd think, provide lift too
Sorry, further to my previous post: did my twin training on a PA23 (ZS-MDL) and absolutely love that aerie. Maybe one day I'll do float training on one. Great movie.
Nice thind about it is it fly's great . Makes a single engine pilot like me seem like a pro and you will swear you have known Rob all you life because of his " NO rush and you can do it" attitude Like hes your Best friend and its your plane. Norm Heimberger in Arkansas
Rob and Terri are both just awesome. I've flown with them several times. They have both helped me out too when I've need an examiner on short notice for a student.

What are the single engine performance numbers?
YKMav8r 2 years ago
@YKMav8r an apache on 1 engine has barlety enough power to make it to the scene of the crash especially on floats

About how much slower is the plane with floats?
Ridedirtba25 2 years ago
I liked the takeoff from the truck very much. If you do this in Holland you go straight to the funny farm.

This plane was recently for sale on EBAY. The owner had it advertised as having 160 hp engines. When I saw the plane last year, it had 160hp engines.

I normally prefer to listen to the sound of the aircrafts engine(s). But the dream-like score of this video really fits in well ... :-)
