i have the same problem, without striking the wii with a mote. i woke up, went to play Brawl it wasn't showing in the Wii Disc Screen so i ejected it. Then afterward it wouldn't accept any discs, or read them even if I forced them in.(I bought it off a friend, w/o warranty, so I took it apart myself and everything looks fine on the inside.) I have no idea how to fix it atm.

Same thing happened to me a couple of months back. I didnt know what the hell happened so i shipt it to Nintendo and they fixed it and they told me the problem was you have to clean the disc and take them at everytime your done play so that the wii wont get dirty and it loses its memory.

Well if the light on the wii is red.... Take out the plug from the outlet for like 5 minutes then reinsert it and turn it back on. This should work.. I have a power outage too, and my wii worked after I did that ... so try it and see.
