  • im a kiwi an cold chisel are just a massive aussie band headed by the awesome jimmy barnes but aussie have had many aweome bands and artists inxs midnight oil aussie crawl jon farnham men at work the list goes on an on

  • one of their all time best

  • Hey New Zealand Oz. We meet again. Started work in 82 and this is one of the songs I still truly relate to from then. Keep punching above your weight champ.

  • love it

  • Excellent nzoz, I visit your channel every couple of weeks when I feel like some Aussie nostalgia.Really takes me back...thanks mate.

  • Ah yes. The period when good music shone through without the need for a cast of 50 chicky-babes, mixing by a DJ, 10+ wardrobe changes, short skirts or gold bling/wigs, or exotic locations to keep the public transfixed... love this, thanks for sharing nzoz1981!

  • Never heard of these guys before (not surprising, they're before my time and not exactly a household name in Canada) but I really like the song and video. Hope the rest of their stuff is as good.

  • @vaguelyreptilian You must check Chisel out ,Australias greatest, and most solid live band to date...The lyrics are very Australian,im sure you can still appreciate them..

  • One year ago today (16th Jan 2011) that we lost Steve.Bless him,he'll be missed forever now!

  • Apparently a lot of music never made it over to the U.S. Here is yet another song/video that I've never heard of before now. I would have been in the 7th or 8th grade in middle school when this song was released. Too bad I missed it.

  • Love your work nzoz. Been coming to your uploads for the past 3 years, and have become addicted. Kia kaha, kia maia, kia manawanui!!!

  • @TerrinBro cool.... I hope it doesn't get you in trouble with your boss, like some of my other subscribers!

  • @TerrinBro Couldnt agree more! Thanks nzoz. I love 70s and 80s kiwi and aussie music.

  • I am an American who loves this song. Saw it because I thought that was Jimmy Barnes and through a Wikipedia search confirmed that. The only thing heard from him in the U.S. was the song off the Lost Boys soundtrack done with INXS. This song should have been a hit in the states in 1982. Me finding this song and the band Cold Chisel is better late than never.

  • @wheatfields1970 Very true... I have a mission to put this stuff up for the world to see.. .and I don't upload second rate quality either. Sorry about the comments regarding white Americans, but I've come across too many American naysayers.

  • Still love this song nowdays,me and my mates always play this in our parties........gotta love it..

  • yeah buchananstreet go eat a dick cunt!! n fuck off!!

  • Love this song!!! Yes!!! Thanks mate

  • really liking the instrumentals here.

  • Изумительно по всем компонентам!!!

  • nomads @1:56! awesome.

  • Cold Chisel = awesome study music

  • i was 12 when this came out, growing up in Aus, now i live in Croatia and love hearing this. I miss Australia.

  • how could it get more Australian then some classic chisel at the local:) their recent consert at Mudgee was awesome:)

  • I'm only just getting into Chisel's art! Even Jimmy's solo Rocker Working Class Man is an underrated Classic Rock song!

  • Saw them at Adelaide Entertainment Centre tonight. Just amazing. The atmosphere, the bad themselves, just electrifying and nostalgic all at once, the crowd all on their feet before they'd even gotten to the stage... what a great feeling.

  • Luv that guitar!

  • The chef is Kiwi drummer, singer, actor and voice-over champion Paul Johnstone.

  • HEY U YANKEE DOODLE DANDY DAFFOLIDILS SUK ME OFF HAVE YA CONCRETE JUNGLES WE LIVE IN THE REAL ONES FUKHEAD

U DARK FUKEN BARKING FOXY TERRIOR HAND YA OFF MY BACK MANGO TREE U ROTTY FUK

  • Love Chisel! Wish Barnsey would play the US of A

  • Great great song, real Aussie music, love it, so refreshing to listen to this band after flicking through the music channels and hearing them play what they believe good music is. Chisel for life!, so happy they are back, happy, and as good as ever.

  • So loving the Nomades.....

  • This song is boss, I need a car and a girlfriend like hydroman so i can feel cool when i listen to this.

  • @trezza181 Haha Ive got both.... plus caraudio to reckon with and make people give me the evils when it thumps by and sets off car alarms

  • Jimmy Barnes and Cold Chisel are severely underrated! Why didn't they get a chance Stateside? Forever Now makes me cry! Chisel Rocks!

  • @hoprabbitbunny Jimmy told 'em where to stick it in the song You Got Nothing I Want. The US record industry didn't really forgive him for that one. Not to mention that after East and Circus Animals, Jimmy went solo with much inferior material.

  • @NauticalTiger Oh, I forgot they recorded Last Stand in 84. Still, after Flame Trees and Saturday Night (and without Don & Ian) Jimmy's songs weren't as good IMHO.

  • I appreciate your work nzoz

  • @KrazaK87 thank you! :-)

  • @nzoz1982 I'll not have anyone badmouth Cold Chisel they are a classic Australian band there songs are fantastic and Jimmy Barnes is a great singer.

  • @nzoz1982 I'm a white American cunt that loves this song. Let's slow dance!

  • @cranialspasm Alright, I shouldn't have said majority..... and seeing as you're forward... hmm, okay! :-)

  • @cranialspasm I too am an America Cunt that thoroughly enjoyed this tune.

I'd rather hear Cold Chisel than GAGA, BEIBER or anything on American CUNT radio these days

    .

I only learned about them through you NOZ!

    "Good on ya!"

  • @MrPavePaws Thank you... and sorry for the comment...

  • @nzoz1982 i'm laughing as i'm re-reading your comment MrPavePaws.

  • @nzoz1982 where is the anti-septic .... fuck america ...

  • @nzoz1982 arrogant cunts! I love this fucking band, they are more then just great music, they are history and memory! so if u dont like it fuck off and stop listening to it! Love For Jimmy and all the boys! :) CC for life!

  • @BakerWase are you seriously replying to the uploader of the video, to fuck off if he doesn't like the music?

  • @Chazorvigg lol no im agreeing with a previous comment that he wrote a while back lol

  • @buchananstreet your a dumbass.

  • @buchananstreet you haven't tried 'Flame Tree', 'Cheap Wine', 'Star Hotel', 'Choir Girl', 'Shipping Steel', 'Bow River'.. you have no fucking idea what you are talking about, you fucking idiot.

  • Love this song.. never tire of it.. classic, thanks for posting

  • u zonks have no idea1 this is next level asianic phone number

  • the drummer is wearing nomads

  • Has it been asked if the chief is out of Daddy Cool.

  • @Superjodi1969 If that chef is the bassplayer from Daddy Cool, I'm going to eat my own foot!

  • @Superjodi1969,

The chef's name is Paul Johnstone. He was Cundalini in Mad Max and the petrol station owner in Running On Empty.

That there is Cundalini, and Cundalini wants his hand back!

  • i love chisels....but i cant quite get over steve's loss just yet...so rip steve and rock on chisels.............

  • Utterly awesome. Such a sweet, sweet tune.

  • Seeing them live tonight!

  • Saw Cold Chisel live last night on the Sunshine Coast Qld . Bloody Awesome.

  • ian is something more

  • Brings back memories of arriving in Sydney in April 1982 and hearing this on 2SM.Those were the days of travelling the world. Its funny how you can place a song to where you were when you heard it first.

  • @bucananstreet

Seriously Foreigner?? They sound nothing alike, mainly based on the fact Chisel were forged in the 70's and kept that rocky edge throughout the early eighties. Completely different to the backing track, electronic drumkit, Keytar using bands that you mention.

  • @MegaVandaman If Jimmy Barnes walked into rehearsals with 'Eye Of The Tiger', it would have been at the bottom of Chisel's agenda heap.... they were true to their form and their audience... gotta give them that....

  • Beautiful song and great voice,

  • This is the only Cold Chisel (or Jimmy Barnes) song that I like.

However, I do love this one!

  • @buchananstreet

I doubt Journey and Foreigner would have pushed their live performances as hard of Cold Chisel and I would like to think the bulk of Chisel's recordings had just that little more grit than say, Styx or Loverboy tunes.

'Forever Now' and 'When The War Is Over' are two of their most polished recordings, so if you're judging them according to tracks like that, then you cannot be blamed for this assumption...

  • @nzoz1982 I just cant see any similarity at all between the soft rock of Foreigner and Cold Chisel. Have you ever heard any other Chisel tracks?? There was an essential Australian element to their music that could never have been misconstrued as American soft-rock. In short what crap!

  • @cshorrock69 You're not speaking to me! Please be careful with who you respond directly to.

  • @nzoz1982 could be, i just know this song here and one other. but bands who make music like this cease to interest me right away.

  • @buchananstreet Sorry, I know you may be getting tired of this 'assertion', but as an unbiased Australian I have listened to them all. April Wine, Status Quo, Foreigner, Styx, Journey, Chilli Wack, Heart, Survivor and more. Cold Chisel have not always been my favourite band; but one thing is distinctly recognisable about them, that puts them a million miles above those you compare them too. They actually wrote songs from the ground level - not from some superior POV with sales on mind.

  • @buchananstreet is there something wrong with your ears buddy????? This music is far Superior then ANY of the music these days!!!

  • Steve on tea cups sadly passed away. RIP. A band that lead OZ music out of America's control. The boy's are all central Australian/NT/SA.

  • Best Kiwi band ever

  • @arckhealol excuse me!!??

  • @arckhealol AUSSIE BAND!

  • This vid clip is cool as ice.

  • best live band in the late 70s early 80s when jimmy actually sang a song

  • the greatest aussie band ever

  • god save cold chisel

  • Classic Stuff go jimmy

  • Being an aussie Rocks!!! :)

  • @stevelewis3 *$1,000,000,016.95 .... billion needs another few zeros in there

  • Why did Cold Chisel never make it big outside of Aussie?

In my humble opinion, one of the best bands going!

  • why is U2 being compared with Cold Chisel again? cause they're both from islands? or cause the other band really sounds completely different than the other? or cause both singers have different approaches to singing? i know its cause you guys need to shut up and listen to the music.

  • I love this song! <3 it really helped me :D

  • one of the all time great aussie songs! brilliant

  • Top bloke a great drummer Steve Prestwich, deepest sympathies to his family and to the band, you will be missed.

  • JImmy Barnes is da man

  • I like his voice!

  • This is a good Chisel song.

  • @AlexDhuna aren't they all?

  • ...omg...@1.54...he has black 'nomad' shoes on...i must be getting old!!!

  • ahhhhhh the good old days

  • No sorry but NO Cold Chisel members have EVER been a part of Australian Hard rock supergroup ACDC. ACDC has had many different members over the years (only the Young Brothers remain the original members) and a number of lead singers - the most famous in the Australian circuit being Bon Scott (who as I said before left the band Fraternity to front ACDC). Ian has been in 3 bands The Scene which he joined as a schoolboy at just 14 then he started his own band Anger & Tears then Orange (Chisel).

  • Swanee (John Swan) was also in Cold Chisel for a time as support vocals but he got sacked from the band because of his hot temper and too many fights, lol. Swanee is Jim's half brother and actually taught Jimmy how to sing so as not to strain his vocal cords and lose his voice after a gig. Hope this helps you understand the band's and Jimmy's history with Cold Chisel. But Orange (Cold Chisel) WAS Jim's first band and he was only 17.

  • Sorry my mouse keeps moving my typing* Jimmy moved back to his first band hardcore Metal band Orange doing covers. They had a different bass player then and Jim and Steve used to fight quite a lot and Jimmy would keep leaving the band Orange and thats how he ended up fronting Fraternity. In 1975 Phil joined the group as Bass Player and Don Walker started writing original material and then they decided to change their name to Cold Chisel and started the pub circuit getting a following.

  • Nooooo. Jimmy Barnes NEVER fronted or was in ACDC. Bon Scott was frontman for an Adelaide band Fraternity that had John Swan as its drummer - Jimmy's brother. When Bon Scott left Fraternity to become lead singer with ACDC, Jimmy joined Fraternity for a while as frontman but it was too tame and he moved to the more hardcore band Orange which had Steve Prestwich as drummer and Ian Moss on Guitar et etc and it then changed its name to Cold Chisel. Sorry your mistaken.

  • Who the fuck could dislike this song?????? You have taste in your arse. What do you call music? Black guys rapping with diamonds and gold dripping off them a few video ho's for good measure??? Get some taste for fucks sake!

  • Amazing song with the synonomous Chisel beat of Steve Prestwich. RIP Steve and see you at the Light the Nitro Tour on Nov 15. Just know you will be there X

  • I'll never get tired of this!!

  • got my ticket. am going to see the "light the nitro" tour. get well, jimmy. when you come to town we want you firing on all cylinders. see yas in oct.27.

  • My mum was listening to this while giving birth to me , no wonder i love it

  • looking forward for the tour but it won't be the same without u steve R.I.P

  • Ahh Chisel, bloody awesome, looking forward to the tour guys, go Jimmy you good thing!

  • I watch this video everyday. The happiest 4.35 of my every day.

  • Great to see the band getting back together, not my style but many aussies love the band.

l find amusing Don Wilsons comment about flying the band all over Australia and being 'CARBON POSITIVE'.

Like Don, l'm sick and tied of hearing all this climate change crap and carbon tax con.

Wish Cold Chisel all the best.

  • Classic Barnes...

  • never get tired of this song...just classic!

  • I am probably the only canadian who has this CD

  • @TheBananaTek nope

  • @TheBananaTek You are obviously smarter and more discerning than your southern neighbours!!!

  • @TheBananaTek Good on you!

  • @TheBananaTek Apparently, our harbour city,Sydney, is the same as Toronto, enjoy our Australian anthem when you guys have, we have what U guys call A Kegger!!!!!,as we say in OZ,get on the piss hard!!!!!!so you know of Khe Sahn yeah?us kangaroo`s watch a show from Nova Scotia called Trailer Park Boys, the ppl in OZ who listen 2 this music over here are called BOGANS,a bit like Rickly,Julian and Bubbles!!,if U get a chance, watch an Ozzie movie, called Chopper Eh?regards!!!!!

  • @TheBananaTek sorry tek got most a Chisel and Barnsey's stuff :)

  • @TheBananaTek pass it around but make sure you get it back!

  • @TheBananaTek Nope, not the only one :) Love it!

  • was this back when jimmy barnes played drums in cold chisel ?

  • @67675656565655656565 Jimmy Barnes never played drums in Cold Chisel. The only drummer for Cold Chisel was the late Steve Prestwich, who joined the Little River Band (which has had at least 25 different lineups) after Cold Chisel broke up in 1984. Jimmy Barnes was the lead singer, who went solo in the mid 1980s.

  • @cparkes92 i am pretty sure jimmy barnes did play drums in cold chisel and ian moss was the lead singer i dont think you have your facts right.

  • @67675656565655656565 Sorry but I think you will find that is incorrect. Jimmy was the 17 year old singer from the start joining hardcore rock band Orange of which Steve Prestwich was already drummer. Jim's brother John Swan played drums in a band with the late Bon Scott (ACDC lead singer later on) and I think it was called Fraternity. They originated in Adelaide.

  • @73JouJou no jimmy barnes was in ac/dc before he was in cold chisel everyone knows that

  • @67675656565655656565 Nooooo you are very wrong. Jimmy was NEVER in ACDC. His brother John Swan was drummer in an Adelaide band called Fraternity with front man Bon Scott. Bon left the group and joined ACDC and Jimmy went frontman for Fraternity for a short time but the music was too timid for him. He moved to the more hard core rock band Orange - Steve Prestwich on Drums, Ian Moss on Guitar etc. etc. and they later changed their name to Cold Chisel. Sorry but Im a diehard original Chisel fan.

  • @73JouJou wasnt ian moss also in ac/dc ?

  • @6767565656565656565 that post about Jimmy playing drums was not meant for you. I clicked on the cparkes92 reply and your details came up and I never realised til I posted my response. You of course were right!

  • @jezzadotus You NEVER give you phone number over the Internet. Especially YouTube. Prepare for massive IRL trolling.

  • U2 are backyard hacks compared to this awesome Aussie band, even though they probably haven't got the runs on the board as far as sales go, a unique band with a country full of loyal fans

  • @olexboy well said!
