Obviously most of you have no idea what the hell this song is really about. It's by no means racist, that's like saying Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a white power book equal to Mein Kampf because of its use of the word "nigger". Anyone ever hear of a parody? McCartney was trying to lampoon the anti-immigration panic sweeping the U.K. at the time through this and a number of other Beatles tunes which, ultimately, were scraped.
It's too bad, I would have liked to have seen a really politically aware Beatles album stick it to the right wing moral panic crowd, but I guess a lot of the responses here show that many people aren't prepared for this sort of commentary.

Amazing how many people who don't understand the context. This was a reaction and a mockery of the British conservative politician Enoch Powell who, in a speech in 1968 expressed fear that immigrants would take over Britain.
In an earlier version of this song (Titled "Commonwealth") McCartney is also pointing out the irony of the fact that the immigrants were largely from former British colonies but still were seen with such disrespect and alienation from their former masters.

A very limited pressing, but it was out there. It saw the light of day at the time it was recorded. This wasn't a serious recording or anything. If you listen to Paul's voice as he was singing, you can tell that they were fooling around. Part of the creative process or whatever. The Beatles didn't release this recording. It was leaked. Kind of like how people tell jokes privately that they wouldn't say publicly.
