ok fro know, but if you are going to be on location shouldn't the photographs somehow include the landmark/location setting? Otherwise, why not just be anywhere? Your first two or three shot with the wide angle did that and then most of your shots did not.
If my friend asks me for quick 1-2 minutes potrait session, I usually take funny distorted photo with wide angle lens from short distance + blow the background shot with the 50mm and or 2.8 tele lens
So I'm shooting at 200 ISO, that's as low as it goes, it's reading about 4000 ISO...what does that mean????? Would you mind explaining that? Please????
well great video but i woudl have one question do you like the bokeh , the blurry background more when you use a wide open lens or when you use a lens with longer focal length? its a question im always thinking about..
I like these real shoots you get a much better Idea of the shots and flow.
I would love to see someone do an on location shoot at a business like a hotel that shows about finding the place and the photo shoot space and getting the permitions. you allways see these awesome shooting locations like a mansion or hotel pool but they never show how they get access to those places.
I like the long videos but I felt the need to help others that want a shorter video. So here is what you do. If you want only a 5 min video watch the video for 5 min the press stop. This actually works for any length video you want.
One Question: Why ISO 200 ? :D:D Don't you almost "automatically" change to 100, when you're able to shoot at a faster shutter speed that, let's say at least 1/1000. I'd guess that you don't have to raise the ISO anymore whatever you're shooting at :D
@Chriswoz83 :D that's kinda weird ... didn't think of that could be possible, too ... but yea, the D3s likely even handles ISO1600 like my Lumix FZ-28 handles ISO-100 so it was just a question in general...
Hey Jared, Breaking the rules right at noon, I always try to never shoot at that time right in direct sun light because of the harsh shadows on the subjects face. You couldn't push it for a later time in the day? Good video
Great video again Jarod... when you're shooting portraits, do you autofocus using the AF-ON or the AE-L/AF-L button (for locking composition)? - thanks!
Jared you are the best. I found your channel 2 weeks ago and watch alot of your stuff in the studio in my down time! I look forward to anything you post in the future and I need to get one of those I Shoot Raw shirts!
Now wait a sec, at one moment there was a Nikon D3S and i assume another pro body DSLR on the ground and an Nikon D3100 filming and you weren't looking?
You talked about fill flash, i know there are many different ways and solutions all depending on your situation, but for this situation, what kind of flash would you have liked to use? One of those big white plastic lightbox thing you put on your flash, would you setup a tripod with an umbrella or is that too cumbersome? or would you just have the flash go off straight at him with perhaps a filter?
I like the way you direct the subject Jared, this video is good example of building rapport and keep talking to get the most out of the model. I do struggle at times keeping the shooting going, directing and building rapport to get the most out of a shoot. Good stuff.
I broke my lens hood last time when my camera slipped out of my hands from the 2nd floor to the ground. And it did protect the lens which didn't even have a cap on it.
Nice video jared you should of used the silver side of the reflector and feathered the light that would of worked a treat the white side is not very good unless you bounce flash into it
I like how u mentioned switching lenses.. everytime I do it (especially at football games) I find new specs of shit through my view finder... its not on the sensor or in viewfinder itself, Im assuming the "Focus Screen" .....is their a way to take care of that?
Another great 5 min portrait. I shoot a D700 and just sold my 70-200 Vr2 lens to afford lighting equipment, I now have the 135mm F2 DC (and my orgingal 50mm 1.4 G). I watch all your videos you're grouse Jared! Dylan, from Australia.
is there a way to control where the focus is? I hear the beep while in A mode, but it's in autofocus so it picks where to focus, but in manual focus its not working out. Can you explain it please?
@JaredPolin I usally keep it in AF-C. I keep the AF on on the lens...is there a different way to manually select focus points and keep AF on the lens?
