  • what should be the length of the rope?

  • 3rd time wakeboarding i tried this.. havent been since

  • @brianator145: yea i friggin love hotsteeze

  • damn i finally landed this. logged it on hotsteeze . com.

  • can you guys tell me what i am doing wrong on my tantrum.thank you !

  • Can i do this if i dont hav a pole

  • @WakeboardingPro17 Sure. It'll be harder though, because the rope will be pulling you down, instead of straight forward while you are in the air.

  • Awesome video man! I love just pulling tantrums all the time now whenever I get a chance to ride. My problem is I don't really get enough height, am I coming in too quickly? flipping too early?

  • @OwenKnowsTech Hard to tell without seeing it :)

The most common mistake is that people don't extend (jump) off of the very top of the wake. If you do this, it'll usually give you a good pop, assuming you've built enough speed into the wake. If you wait too long to pop, you'll get hung up in the air and not be able to complete your flip (I'm assuming you've had this happen to you a few times, since it happens to every rider at some point).

  • I just got a wakeboard today and we are going tomorrow any easy tricks to go off of first?

  • @TheRapcity87 jump the wake first, learn to hit it. you will go far when you learn that.

  • @TheRapcity87 Learn to edge very comfortable on both side of the wake, crossing the wakes in both directions. Once you can do that, start trying to get little pops off of the wake (on both sides). Then build into bigger airs trying to clear the wakes.

  • How do you change your edge? every time I change it like that I face plant it

  • @pop1it2lock3it do a smooth transition, don't shove the ts of the board into the water, do a slow movement from your heels to your toes... it is all about board control

  • @xXRuss101Xx okay thanks for the advice :)

  • What speed should you go while learning?

  • @GCalem Varies from person to person, but I would attempt it at normal boat speed. 19-20MPH at the slowest.

  • the day before i planned on trying this i got a concussion from a wake jump..

  • How many mph should the boat be going when first learning the trick?

  • @walkthemilkyway Slow down if you're scared but I would just go normal speed. I go about 19ish. I was never close to getting hurt when I first learned at that speed.

  • @walkthemilkyway Fast enough to where the wake isn't really foamy.

  • Very informational, ill be trying the tantrum this weekend

  • this whole tripping thing makes the whole concept way more confusing! jut feel it out and its all good

  • @DumpsterChicken14 Sometimes I agree with ya. I don't necessarily think about "tripping" either when I do the flip. But one thing we've realized is that when you ask for 100% you usually only get 20% back from the rider. So, if you ask for more exaggeration, the rider usually does just enough.

  • @LearnWake yea forsure, i guess its way easier than trying to throw it

  • So this is apparently the easiest flip? How long do you think it would take to land?

  • @DrAnchorActor If you are really comfortable with doing heelside wake-to-wake jumps, and can do back flips on the trampoline, then it could take you as little as one day. It all depends.

  • Is it important to be able to do a backflip first?

  • @elementBAM9317 not necessarily, if the everything is done correctly the wake will throw you into the flip, that is if you let it... don't hold back and let the wake kick you backwards and spot the water

  • I can do em on a wakeskate haha

  • when i land it my rope is slack an i get like a whiplash from the boat an cant hold onto the rope.. what am i doing wrong?

  • @dyl961 Sounds like you might be throwing the flip too much toward the boat. Try holding your edge a bit longer and keeping your back shoulder lower than your front shoulder when you square up at the wake to throw the flip. It's hard to diagnose exactly without seeing it. You should upload a video on our website so we can analyze it and give you feedback. Thanks for the question!

  • @LearnWake the boat needs to be going faster

  • @dyl961 Glad it helped you out!

  • This made it as easy as a grab to tantrum this is an awesome how to

  • just seems like it will hurt really bad if i crash

  • @tandaman12355 Same thing wit me

  • @tandaman12355 actually if u land on the top of ur head it doesnt hurt

  • @HitmanCarter dude ive very nearly knocked myself clean out landing head first

  • @MrAussiechampion last year all my friends were landing on our heads and we never got hurt

  • @tandaman12355 ive thrown about 50 tantrums, and ive never hurt myself

they really dont hurt, but if your scared just get the boat to slow down for the first one

  • haha that makes sence!! the first time i tried it, i thought it would kinda be like a backflip into a pool, but its not even close. i threw my main vertabrea out 11 degrees. i kinda just went for it, i didnt really know what to expect. but now, after watching this, its hella easy!!

  • good video, helped so much!

  • video helps but dont do all the pre cut in crap just throw it landed it within two lake trips

  • @Shaenerd yeah lmao I started wakeboarding like last week cause I moved to a house on a lake and I landed a tantrum on the 3rd day haha

  • Wakeboarding is very similar to snowboarding?

  • Comment removed

  • @ARoweSox18 1st attempt got it thx

  • @krookedKiller13 I find that it is but the only diference is the toeside edging in my opiniom

  • @krookedKiller13 yeah, i wakeboard a ton, and i went snowboarding for the first time ever this winter, and the second day out i could already jump and do grabs(: the jumping part feels really similar, but when you first learn either one of them its kinda different..(:

  • huck that shit its hella easy

  • This video rocks! Landed one on my 3rd attempt. 2nd ride this year!! Fully commit from the cut in and it just happens! Wanna grab it next! Cheers guys!

  • GREAT HELP!

    thx very much!

  • awesome vid dude, great tips. actually i have only been wakeboarding for about a year now and my boat seriously sucks. (like the rope is about 3 inches from the surface of the water, way too low to get any pop. also, the wake it makes has hardly 6 inches of a jumping wave, so even clearing the wake is almost an impossible challenge.) if you have any tips on my "dilemma" just holler at me :)

  • @iwilleatyou7678 Get a pole

  • what do u think i shud try 2 learn to do first the Tantrum or the Back roll which is easier?

  • a backroll's rotation happens really naturally and you really don't need to even focus on flipping cause you get thrown as you take off. tantrum is a straight backflip so if you can do backflips off diving boards/trampolines well go for tantrum i'd say.

  • i agree

  • ummm i landed a tantrum first hahaha actually that was only a week ago. there both easy, you just got to commit to it

  • yeah lol. and grow the balls to attempt it cuz ur gunna fall a few times lol

  • I learned the tantrum before i even learned the 360. I would recommend the tantrum. I think its a lot easier.

  • I landed my first backroll this weekend, I find it easier to do because I just can't get over that mental barrier of doing a backflip (Basically I can't do 'em on Trampolines and Diving Boards). It's not that hard of a trick, but as wakeboarder124 said... you gotta commit to it to land it.

  • @MrThirsty15 I have the same problem with doing them on a trampoline but i have less of a problem attempting these just because of being more comfortable on the water.

  • word

  • good video....still scared to try it though. i have a bad knee and i dont know how easily it is to re injure it doing this

  • Braces are expensive, but cheap in the long run ;)

  • Great video very good explaination. Didn't know about the one hand thing :) hopefully get it right this vacation will let you know! thnx

  • do u hav to go one handed?

  • yes, the tantrum requires 1 hand only

  • oh thanks

  • Yes you change edge to your toes. All trip flips are this way, it feels awkward at first but that is the correct way to do it.

  • Do you really need to change your edge to your toes? that seems kinda odd to me... When you change your edge to your toes, don't you just ride back from the wake? xD

    Please let me know :D

  • just huck it

  • Very imformative video. Best tantrum instruction video on here

  • totally agree, i like the practice instructions they give u before u even try to attepmt, gives you better feel and also corrects and bad habbits u may take on by just giving hell and going for the invert

  • gr8 vid! cheers!

  • awesome video! explained very well thanks
