Car slides out of control in Moore Street Derry

I don't understand why people get out of their cars and risk being run over...well, that and people that still buy RWD and 2WD vehicles when they live in an area that gets snow. AWD and 4WD with chains is the only way in heavy ice and snow.

Even though you don't get much snow, you still need winter tires. At temps below 10 C, the summer tires harden too much and have much much less friction then normal.

So even in rain, if temps holw around 10 C it's far far better to have winter tires.

.. or u'll end up spending much more for repairs :)

I think you need to get your facts straight before you start throwing derogatory comments at people. 1. There were not two people in the car. 2. the car had been parked at the top of the street and the driver was reversing round the corner. 3. The car locked and the wheels just slid - it does happen (a car crashed into my neighbours on a flat piece of road because of hitting a bad piece of snow). 3. The gentleman running is going to help and is 70 years old. Hardly a "fucking idiot"!!!

you clearly do not understand the situation. The brakes are on - the car is slipping and sliding on snow. There are other cars on the street and the driver is trying to prevent it from crashing into them. Not really stupidity - would you rather he had stayed in the car and let it crash which, by the way, would have been loads worse if it had reached the bottom onto a very very busy main road!!
