  • Jack's jump was smooth, graceful and cool. Landing needs work, though. LOL.

  • I liked the "TOING!!!" Sound when Jack crashed.

  • Kermit should go back to Sesame Street, but I doubt Disney will let him return.

  • When Jack asked the cow to tell him how to jump over the moon, he was expecting it to turn him on to a groovy new drug. He thought the cow was using slang. lol. Needless to say, he didn't dig it when the cow told him it literally involved jumping.

"Aww, comon' Bessie. I just TRIED that jive jumping thing and broke every bone in my body. Let's cool it with that bum trip. I can get us some dope on old Ma Goose's dime, ya dig?"

  • Jerry must have had fun playing hipster characters, right?

  • Thanx 4 this forgotten 1!

  • Does anyone know of a News Flash where Kermit asks:

K: Are you the princess in distress?

Princess: What does this look like? A pant suit?

  • I love the News Flash segments from sesame street but i think this one is my favorite that rascal ran under the candle stick lol.

  • EVERYTHING IS EVERYTHING! hahahahaha Would you ever hear a concept that deep on a show for little kids? Henson and co. were so brilliant.

  • Jack Be Nibble sounds like Floyd from the Muppet Show.

  • I love that ... jack broke all of his bones in his body. im gonna sue mother goose for that. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL i miss old sesame street. :)

  • Jack be nimble, jack be quick, jack jumped over the candle stick and bruk up he-self.

  • Jack reminds me of Eric Burton singing that Spill the wine song.

  • Jerry Nelson was a great performer. He does a great hippie. Floyd Pepper was cool.

  • @mohinderbauer

Yeah, but now it's Matt Vogel who does him. I guess his is okay, but I still like Jerry's voice better.

  • Heavy, Heavy, I can dig it.

  • Sheer brilliance. My dad always said Henson and his boys were high when they came up with these...proof he was right! ;D

(RIP fellas... You are badly missed)

  • Thats a nice Jack!

  • "HEAVY!!!!" pure 1970s lingo!! LOL!

  • Kermit's facial expressions are hilarious!!

  • WOW!!!! Check hang time at 2:33 and he suing mother goose,LOL!!!!!!

  • This is awesome!! I loved the news flash segments! Way cool with the Floyd voice for Jack! Poor Jack is a burnt out hippie! Classic!!!

  • that is one hip jack nimble

  • Everything is Everything is the shit!!!

  • LOL I loved and still love this stuff! LMAO

  • "Yea I'm getting pretty tired of all this roaving too...Oh!"

  • "Everything is everything!" lol 1:37

  • JACK is A Hippie

  • I always hated it when the TV station went on stand by because something went wrong while Sesame Street was on.

  • Is it just me or does Jack look and sound like a close relative of Floyd from The Muppet show? Did Jerry Nelson do both voices?>

  • Yep, Jerry did both voices. He actually used the Floyd voice several times on "Sesame Street" before Floyd even showed up on TV.

  • @efil4own1

The first time Floyd appeared on the Muppets was in the Sex and Violence pilot.

  • @zacandtaylorrule Yes he does and he did, I love the way Jack enters (skitty-bop-ditty-bop-skee-ditty-bop)

  • @zacandtaylorrule

    Yes, he did.

  • Im gonna sue mother goose for that

  • If you really wanna do that, then you'd have to go back to the year 1697, because that's when the nursery rhymes were first printed.

  • This sketch is also seen on Old School Volume 2.

  • They should have gave him some orange slices before the interview.

  • muppetfan33...jack doesn't dig being corrected...I go underneath the candle, man...I go around the candle, man...I am the "athlete"...you're just the reporter looking on...I put out twice, man...what more do you want??? Can the reporter do what the athlete does??? ( Smiles )!!!

  • wow the stuff today is trash to the old stuff.

  • Listen frog, get off my case...I mean I don't dig that...man, jack is the coolest m*****f***er on the planet...somethin' else!!!

  • What is it he doesn't dig?

  • Jack is ganna sue mother goose. xDD

  • haha!! too funny!

  • Dude was high as a mug,LOL!!!!!

  • "Well these nursery rimes get weirder all the time!" lol!

  • Can someone upload the Humpty Dumpty News Flash as it's also on the Old School DVD? And I'm also hoping to see a few sketches with Professor Nobel Price on here as well.

  • Well Jack just dosen't have Floyd Pepper's voice...

He even has Floyd Pepper's attitude! :)

  • and Floyd Pepper's muppeteer, Jerry Nelson.

  • and Floyd Pepper's accent and style!

  • Yeah! But the only things floyd has that Jack doesn't have is his place in the Electric Mayhem Band, the bass guitar Floyd plays, and, of course, Floyd's girl Janice.

  • and 4 Jack's talent that Floyd dosn't have is jumping over a candle stick

  • LMAO--LOVE the '60's slang.

  • LOL, it's amazing how Jim Henson could create a disgusted/acerbic look to Kermit's face just by how he curled his fingers just right.

  • Hippy dippy

  • "I'm going to sue mother goose for that."

wow-to hear that on Sesame Street. Far out.

  • Anyone know if Jack has eyes under those shades?

  • I hope Jack knows a good chiropractor.

  • And there goes Jack, over and out.

  • its mitch hedgberg the muppet

  • Brilliant observation! Just goes to show you how far ahead of its time Sesame Street was. They invented Mitch Hedberg 25 years before anyone knew he existed!

We miss ya, Mitch. Hope you're killing them up there in Heaven. (And of course, we miss you terribly too, Jim. We know you're right there with Mitch entertaining the masses.)

  • I'm almost afraid to ask, but who is Mitch Hedberg?

  • Mitch Hedberg (1968-2005) was a brilliant stand-up comedian, specializing in snappy, one or two line surreal jokes. He was known for wearing dark glasses and a mellow, laid back delivery. (I called him The Beatnik Comic.) And just when he was on the verge of achieving superstardom...

    he passed away.

I'm sure there are gobs of clips of him here on YouTube. Check them out and you'll see the similarities between Jack and Mitch.

  • DO YOU HAVE THE news flash with suzanne farrel?

  • Jack be nimble, Jack be quick,

    Jack jumped over the candlestick.

And though that candle was not lit,

I think Jack was, just a bit!

  • I dig this one!

"...Jack also broke every bone in his body frog!"

My coworker and I use this line at work sometimes.

  • yeah he's stoned and cool

  • jack sounds stoned.

  • They should've done a little American Pie reference: Jack Be Nimble, Jack Be Quick, Jack Flash sat on a candlestick!

  • Speaking of weird, what would you say was the weirdest News Flash you've ever seen?

  • That I'm not sure.

  • @wattamack4 Weird, sort of. Funny, yes!

  • do you happen to have teh episode of Sesame Street News Flash where Kermit Interviews Alice in Wonderland?

  • I asked a question...

  • Also, does anyone understand what Jack was saying after he ran around the candlestick?

  • He said, "Everything is everything." Peace.

  • I know that. But he was jabbering something after he ran around the candlestick. Something about dollars and the frog.

  • 'Alright! Dudes and dollies, do you dig it! Just send the coins in, don't applaud.'

  • It's not the last time we see him; in 1994, in show #3193, Jack appeared on Sesame Street to give his candlestick to Ruthie at Finders Keepers. Not only did Jerry play him again, but they used the same design and characterization as well.

  • A new favorite of mine...

"I'm gonna sue mother goose for that...."- ROFL

  • Yeah thats a funny line, It shure was much eaiser to go under over and around the candelstick!

  • Definitley :D

  • Did he really not know what "over" means? Or did he just pretend not to know in hopes he wouldn't have to jump over the candlestick and get hurt?

  • Everything is everything. Kermit as the voice of reason is hilarious. That's some heavy action.

  • I like Kermit's Annoyed Look :D

  • 'The cow jumped over the moon'. That's no joke; have you priced meat lately?

  • Apparently Jerry Nelson seemed to like this voice, since he used it for one of his most beloved characters, Sgt. Floyd Pepper on "The Muppet Show".

  • I agree. Jack definetely sounds like Floyd.

  • Floyd and also the lead singer of Over the Top, the group that did "ZZ Blues", and he kind of looks like him too.

I've been wanting to see this for a while. I'm not sure whether or not I saw it when I was young. Does anyone have the "Old Mother Hubbard" News Flash?

  • Or even the "Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves" News Flash? I haven't seen that one in 30 years!

  • I'm not sure I ever saw that one, or Mother Hubbard. Bring em' both up here!

  • LOL! Jack is a beatnik!
