I have studied hundreds of great voice actors who did radio shows over a 50 year span, like counter spy, x minus 1, the widdah brown, Andy & Amos, CBS RMT, a never ending list. These actors took on different rolls 7 days a week. All of these talented actors make Hanks look amaturish at best. You are foolish to admire this clown who got his break playing a karate nerd who challenged the Fonz on Happy Days. You dont know what U R missing.

1993-in my opinion one of the best years in hollywood cinema of the 90's- philadelphia, in the name of the father, schindlers list, the fugitive, the firm, carlitos way, mrs. doubtfire, searching for bobby fisher, this boys life, groundhog day, demolition man, sleepless in seattle - good comedy,drama, action, thriller, romance, crime, history ....just a phenomenal year...and no i didnt forget jurassic park, i just wasn't a fan, and i was 8 when it came out so thats saying something...ha ha

Why, at least for talking roles, does hollywood keep giving billionairs rolls that some student of the dramatic academy of arts in N.Y. would love to get and do for 1/1000th the price? Shame on these recycled forced fed B-rate actors. I rent foreign movies from France, Italy, Spain, ect. just to see some fresh faces. Ty it, before you bash me. I'm not trying to be an ass... but I kinda don't like the video description "and hit the jackpot with it", because it sounds... almost rude to state such when faced with what is arguably one of the greatest films ever made, and the greatest performances ever captured on screen.  I've seen the 20 best movies ever made, according to at least 100 lists, and I consider Tom's acting in S.o.P. to be at least equal Brando's Waterfront or DeNiro's Taxi. These are roles they were born to play.

That moment when he walks out after being turned down by denzel is one of the greatest in movie history. Desperation, dejection, hopelessness and fear are portrayed in a painfully honest way. It really is painful to watch but you know you're seeing the real deal.

Absolutely love Tom Hanks from the late 80's to the early 90's ... starting with Punchline running through Forrest Gump (and everything in between like Philadelphia). There isn't a single actor who I can say I like as much as Tom Hanks over this 6-7 year time span. Perhaps Robert DeNiro (the period from when he was in Goodfellas through Casino and Heat). Altough I do think Val Kilmer had a decent run of excellent movies himself (ie Tombstone, Heat, Etc.)
