  • Funny, only one year before in Mexico di Stefano sang this with a rare sweetness, poise and care; here he sounds like a bull bellowing with as much sensitivity as Frankie Laine singing 'Mule Train.' Callas is better in Mexico, too, which makes me wonder if the recording process just can't capture voices such as these.
