  • hi i have a derbi gpr 50cc, and no flasher relay, and my indicators are staying a solid colour, any ideas on how to fix? much appreciated and thanks.

  • @blackvinnie1 I have no idea sorry but I would assume NOT having a flasher unit would mean the lights won't flash ...

  • Hey. I got CBR 600, and i fitter LED indicators. But when i was passing my MOT, that guy sayd that my indicators are indicaring too fast (and they realy are), how i know, LED bulbs taking very less power, and motorcycle thinks that one bulb is burned. What i should do to make the indication in normal speed? Thnx

  • @Audrion3 G'day man, you can't use LED indicators as a direct replacement, they need either a new flasher unit that can handle LEDs or, if you you're going to use your original flasher, you need to get resistors for your new indicators.

You can buy the correct resistors ready made from anywhere that sells LED bike indicators and they go between the bikes wiring and your new indicators.

    Hope that helps

  • Congrats friend, very well done :P! :D Thanks for putting a smile on ma face! :P

This hitler thing...loved your answer, shows how mature you are comparing with internet ducks who comment trash.

    Stay well :)

  • @BBoyXy Cheers man, some people really have no idea do they?

Glad you enjoyed, nothing like an idiot to put a smile on our faces :)

We musicians need our laughs ay?

  • HEIL HITLER!!!!

  • @GTAinHDgamer Ah yes, there's always one.

Well done on your thoughtful comments. It really shows your high intelligence and great level of understanding of history.

And congratulations on being so clever that you can make jokes about a guy who was responsible for the deaths of about 55 million people, 30,000 in your own country alone.

What's extra clever on your part is realising that means he killed the entire population of your country FIVE times over!

    That's HILARIOUS!

    Well done.

  • I'm just sarcastic...stop taking things so serious in your life...

  • @GTAinHDgamer One day you'll learn there are some things you don't joke about.

It's like running someone over in your car, getting out and laughing at them as they writhe in agony on the ground.

Do you think they'll understand once you say "I was just joking"?

  • Sorry if I insulted you (in a weird way) but seriously you have to relax and stop being so offensive...please stop answering me ...

  • @GTAinHDgamer Sounds good.

I'll do you a deal. You promise to think before posting stupid comments and I'll promise to not pull you up for them. That way everybody wins!

    Deal?

  • BMW, good german Bike :)

  • Yep, absolutely. Then again, what other German bikes are there?

Actually, just found out there's quite a few, or were anyhoo ...

Check out the German section at cybermotorcycle, interesting site

  • @peeteey

Did you try swapping your thermal relay with an electronic one before this mod? I think you run run 5v to the signals all the time and then when you flip the switch on your controls it grounds it momentarily thus making it flash. I might be wrong though- i am just speculating here.

Though i am sure about the electronic relay-that might have saved you a lot of time. Cheers!!!

  • @Tsitris46 Cheers man, yea I had to use a proper flasher unit designed for LED indicators. It's to do with different loads or something ... impedance maybe? Dunno, I do most of my wiring with a hammer! :D

  • @peeteey

Yes, your are right. Ideally a LED doesn't draw a big enough load. All it takes is 0.7v to light up thus very low current. Anyways good job-i thought i could save you some time and frustration next time.

  • @Tsitris46 Thanks! These have been up and running fine for about a year now with no issues. I've also added a cluster of 2 orange LEDs on either side of the instruments, wired into the front indicators.

This was because my original turn signal light blew and everything inside the instruments is very old and falling apart so I couldn't fix it.

I prefer my setup though 'cause now not only can I see that I'm indicating but now I can see which direction too ...

  • Hi all, I seem to be having that issue that some other people are having whereby if I reply to a comment, the original comment gets deleted. Sorry for not replying in person, will do at a later date I hope ...

  • What brand and model of LED lights are those? I've been meaning to replace my fist sized front turns signals for a while. Those look to fit the bill.

  • Hey Zavochkin, they're SCA (Supercheap Auto) here in NZ and OZ.

After all the hassle, I'm not sure if they were really worth it as they're not nealry as bright as I was hoping. Oh well, live and learn. :)

  • Hmm guess I'll keep looking then. Thanks for the heads up.

  • Congrats !

  • Good on you Peetey--all's well that ends well !

  • Dunno about it being the end, I love tinkering too much but yes, I'm glad I didn't have to 'persuade' it by threatening it over the edge of a cliff ... :)

Is your bike getting ready for summer? Did you go to the British Bike Show a few weekends ago?

  • That's great bro.

    Problem solved. Excellent!!

Since there was a cat in the shot I will call that a proper "Jig." I am after all a cat lover. With four of my own. :-)

  • Glad to hear it, tho I'm not surprised you have four cats. Anyone with such a beautiful and happy looking dog like Izzy must be an all round animal lover.

For some reason, over the last year, I've been getting more and more fascinated with horses. They scare the bajeebers out of me but they're so majestic!

Glad you liked the jig, I had to go and lie down after that. It was the most dancing I'd done in years!

years ago I did what most people who can't dance do, I became a musician!

  • I'm so happy for you mate! Glad you got it figured out.

  • Eureka!

  • Absolutely, but with less running down the road naked and shouting. :)

    I was tempted ...

  • BRILLIANT........ I was so glad that i was singing along for a moment there..

    Congrats, mate :-)

Your cat never leaves your bike !!

  • Whats the reason Raine's in all ya vids ??

  • She goes wherever I go, seeing as i'm a biker, so is she! Keeps me company 24/7.

I reckon she'd come to work with me if she didn't hate cars so much ...

  • Shes a cool cat, at home my cats stick to me like glue too, but my cats would run a mile if i showed them my bike..... lol

  • If I start it she runs a mile.

There was a famous biker here in the South Island who rode everywhere with his cat. The cat would sit up front looking over the headlamp with his own helmet. He loved it!

    Google for "MAX AND RASTUS"

    Very cute and very sad.

  • Actually, just found a myspace page. maxgaynorandrastus

ok, maybe they were nationwide, not just SI like I thought ...

  • I just read an article about Max & Rastus, Has got to be the best relationship between a man and a cat ever....................

I started reading and shouted to the mrs to "get over here and see this cool cats page"............... by the time we'd got to the bottom of the page we'd decided it has to be one of the happyest YET sadest stories we've ever heard !!

How did the driver of the car not see them?, the article didnt say ;-(

  • There are too many blasé drivers around. Plus, in NZ, most of our highways are one lane in each direction, quite small which means there's not much room for error when you have lots of traffic around.

You just have to be extra careful at all times.

  • Woooooggoooooffffooohoooo! Im pleased for you mate :D At last!

  • Thanks mate *wink, twitch* No problem *dribble* Knew I'd *twitch, drool* get there ...

  • lol nice audio, and i knew youd do it :P OR go insane..so i think i was right both ways? :D

  • Oh I knew I'd get it eventually, even if I had to strip all the existing wiring with an axe ... I was tempted a few times I can tell you ...

I'm playing round with a new video program which makes the audio thing much easier than Vdub. I still love Vdub the most but the more I get used to this other prog, the more I can do ... without reprogramming it ... with an axe!

  • Congrats mate really good one this.

People telling you to come to me for advice... this one totally had me stumped... we all thought at the end of it either a naff relay or a missing earth somewhere... seems that was partially correct.

If anything mate looks like my lot should be coming to you for advice :D

  • Yea, had me going and all! I still don't know where the wires are crossed but the wiring is pretty archaic on this thing ...

My only guess why the old system worked was that it had a physical flasher unit that took 12v to flip so a few volts in the wrong wire probably didn't bother it much but it did bother the new, completely electric flasher.

    Maybe?

    Dunno.

I love this stuff. Now I've got a wireless helmet break light flasher to install ... :)

    Wish me luck!
