  • "I love you"

    "...About time"

  • I'm totally gay but Mary McDonnell is a total milf. I'd turn straight for Laura Roslin.

  • Miss the show and "Caprica" too! I have high hopes for BSG: Blood & Chrome but I also hope that the many sci-fi critics go back to being fans again. We're 2 shows away from sci-fi (in America) is going extinct.

  • Mary McDonnel is amazing. So say we all.

  • I remember her as Stands With Fist from Dances With Wolves.

  • she was amazing in Donnie Darko too.

  • I can't believe I still remember her as the president's wife from Independence Day.

  • @Jammed9000 Haha yeah totaly! Every time i see her I get a image of her bleeding at a helicopter wreak.

  • anyone notice toward the end of the show she becomes a bitch?

  • @jjj5541

I noticed how he character became more obsessed about her own feeling toward the fleet what what she felt was right, instead of what would have been legal and fair. In a way, Adama's style of leadership and how the crisis gave her more power seemed to have made her more pragmatic, which was evident when she tried to fix the election to get reelected.

I thought the writers did a great job portraying a leader's gradual shift from ideal to corrupt.

  • @yiany , I loved the writing, possibly one of the best shows I have ever seen, and i needed a good one after "heroes" became a mess. Will always remember it, and miss it.

  • @jjj5541 AMEN!!!

  • what's wrong with olmos's hair?

  • Seems like a smart actor. She is brilliant on this show.

I think my favourite scene in the show is when she gives Baltar his glasses back and lights a cigarette for him, giving him some dignity.

  • @TheRealGrimRainbow When was that?

  • @Ralroost I'm pretty sure it was from the 3rd season episode, "Taking a Break from All Your Worries".

The episode where the roles are reversed and Baltar gives Roslin her glasses, I think is from the 3rd season episode, "Precipice". (Set before).

In their second meeting, in the former mentioned, I love the way she lights a cigarette for him. At first I thought she was going to smoke it.

I loved that their touched upon the dignity they give to each other even under such circumstances.

  • @TheRealGrimRainbow Now that you mention it, I read those scenes completely differently. When Baltar did it, it seemed like saying 'thats right i'm in control, deal with it' and when Roslin did it, it seemed to me it was done to re-establish her position over Baltar, and immasculate him. Maybe I'm projecting though.

  • @Ralroost I think you're right. The immasculation is a very interesting thought and something she knows Baltar will respond to. Along with when Baltar gives Roslin her glasses back is almost a pretence to give someone dignity while hiding domination.

That said, Baltar and Roslin, both characters who I see as highly flawed (Roslin in more subtle ways) are still both individuals who don't enjoy hitting you while you're down. So I believe there was (some) real dignity giving involved.

  • Such a cool lady. I always loved her part in Donnie Darko. Her and the dad are probably the chillest movie parents ever.

  • i don't think she was in fargo

  • Mary McDonald is a very nice women and incredibly attractive considering that she as wll in her 50's!

  • @ Sorayn : Actually it's McDonnell, not McDonald ;)

  • i don't think she is in Fargo. But she is definitely in Dance with Wolves, and she is the amazing Dr. Virginia Dixon in Grey's Anatomy, the awsome cardiac surgeon with Asperger's syndrome.

  • She was in Donnie Darko as far as I remember!

  • yes, she is....I never said she wasn't in Donnie Darko, I just said that I don't think she is in Fargo.

  • Such a lovely lady. Awesome I think and so beautiful without lots of plastic bits.

  • They did do some make - up on her to make her look older & care - worn, as well as suffering from cancer, of course, but she IS a lovely woman.

She also played the First Lady in " Independence Day " opposite Bill Pullman, & I think she was in " Fargo ".

  • this is such an amazing answer.

  • I've said it before, and i will say it again. There is no limit to her talent, intelligence and beauty! Mary McDonnell is all kinds of hot.

  • LOVES!!!!!

  • She be hot.

    ...That is all. =P

  • yep.

  • @zprodigy So say we all.

  • wow, i love mary with all my heart. She seems so intelligent, and pretty, and amazing at acting. <3

  • Michele Bachmann is her stunt double.

  • such a brilliant woman, talented, stunning, eloquent, and far too good an actress. So often that people would give BSG too little credit and not just dismiss it as 'sci fi' from its name.

    McDonnel for president!

  • omg shes an incredible actress

  • She is a very under rated actress. I hope she can get an oscar or emmy before she retires from acting.

  • Mary McDonnell rox!!!
