@bebom927 They did nothing cruel to make them do that. It takes lots of practice and hard work to make a team of this many horse work this well together
I don't know if people fully understand how remarkable this "side passing" is; that many large animals in a very confined space, working together as a team. It is a lot of time and training to get all those horses to respond like that. The horses are gorgeous and talented...but the trainers and drivers are quite impressive as well.
Beautiful animals indeed. They were at Sea World in FL one year that I was there. I stood beside them and was humbled by their magnificent statue. I had no idea they were so tall! And to think they can do all the things they do when horses cannot see straight out in front of them, They see sideways, the way their eys are facing. Amazing! I want one! :)
@Judyp77 Horses can see straight out in front of them. They do have a blind spot directly in front, but they can still see straight. If you walk up to a horse, you may notice many will look straight at you lol
BUDWISER CLDESDALES WERE A MARKETING PLOY SO WHEN YOU GO HOME AND BEAT YOUR WIFE, YOU WON'T FEEL THAT BAD ABOUT IT... BUT YOUR REALLY SHOULD OR YOUR NEIGHBOR SHOULD CRUSH YOUR FACE WITH A SHOVEL.... TOO BAD HE IS PROBABLY JUST AS MUCH OF A COWARD FUCK AS YOU
@424kilebar I assume that this is called a side step due to the fact the horses are moving in an arcing motion together. A sidepass is usually one horse that is walking horizontally to the side.
Wow. That's pretty impressive. As someone who can barely get my Mini, hitched to a 2 wheel cart, to sidestep, to see these wheelers doing it on rein and voice alone, no whip cues...awesome!
@Mora95 They're practicing maneuvers that would have been practical for an 8-horse hitch to do back before the days of autos. ;) You would need to turn your rig around in a small radius occasionally. There's no smaller radius than a pivot around the wagon! Also, getting your team to a point where you can execute such maneuvers quietly and smoothly, means you have a VERY well-operating team, something to be proud of.
@amicusets Not really. The Bud. Clydesdales were first presented as a present to Bush Sr. as a present to mark the ban of the prohibition and have been showing around America ever since
Such beautiful animals... Horses always amaze me with their intelligence. Unlike sheep, which are just plain stupid.

Historically it was called swinging. Drivers used it to clear horses out of the road while the wagon was being unloaded.

@Jecey1 I hear that. Gorgeous horses. Clydesdale is by far my favorite breed of horse, and this only solidifies that favor

@Jecey1 That's sort of ironic, since they're a Scottish breed...
