"well, the front bit fell off"

  • haha whoah, thats some funny stuff :P well made i must say!

  • Haha

"The ship was towed out of the environment"

    "Into another environment"

  • as

  • "Well some of them are built so that the front doesn't fall off at all."

"Well wasn't this one built so the front wouldn't fall off?"

    "Well, obviously not."

    "How do you know?"

"Because the front fell off, and twenty thousand tonnes of crude oil spilled and then the sea caught fire."

  • @CoyoteAussie, Dude, I distinctly remember him having a career before the 70s when he came to Australia. He had a 5 minute slot right around the 6o'clock news. Every day. There were only two stations. The whole country tuned in breathlessly.

  • 92 people were on that ship when the front fell off.

  • is this monty python?

  • @BeesNTrees looks like they were watching it

  • @BeesNTrees

    1. they're australian

    2. no

they're a pair of aussie satirists... there was a ship that's front fell off; this is them satirising the response given by the folks in charge at the time :)

  • @squishedpimp lol he's not Australian

    from wikipedia

Fred Dagg is a fictional archetype satirist from New Zealand created and acted on stage, film and television by satirist John Clarke.......

In 1979, Clarke moved from New Zealand to Australia. In Australia Clarke has gone on to establish himself as a top script writer and personality. He still appears regularly on Australian television doing political satire sketches with actor comedian Bryan Dawe.

  • @karrotop My bad :) irony fail that i got the nationality wrong on a post criticizing some one else for not recognizing the nationality of who he was asking they were.

I'm pretty sure this post was brought to you by the letters "poor sentence construction" and the numbers "grammarfail".

  • No, it's outside the environment.

The australian accents pushes this into tear-of-joy territory.

  • For the love of god can people thumbs up a comment saying that this is SATIRE,A COMEDY SKETCH, NOT REAL. Then we might avoid all these stupid comments.

If you want to see more of these guys POLITICAL SATIRE then search "Clarke and Dawe".

  • here here, quality sketch though

  • @127simy

I thumb down this comment so that the stupid comments will come back !!!

  • whats the minimum crew

  • im trying to figure out witch 1s retarded.....

  • @xTheDeathSaintx hahahahaha Reading non Australian comments who don't know Clarke & Dawes who have been doing this political Satire for 22+ years is hilarious! Thankyou XD hehehe

  • Less funny upon learning that it was scripted.

  • Comment removed

  • I laughed until my ass fell off.

  • 91 people had their front fall off.

  • Hysterical

  • funny as pmfsl

  • "well the front fell off" LMAO!

  • Brilliant sketch!

  • "Some of them are built so the front doesn't fall off at all" "Well, wasn't this built so the front won't fall off?" "Obviously no." "Well how do you know?" "Because the front fell off and 20, 000 tonnes of crude oil spilled in the sea and caught fire." LOL.

  • this man should look from politics to stand-up comedy, the way he talks is so funny

  • @Hem2Fiction He IS a comedian.

    This is a comedy skit.

  • One of the best things to happen to Australian comedy was to take on New Zealander John Clarke. A real kiwi icon.

  • @Kauwhaka Clark's entire career has been in Australia (since the '70s), and he's an Australian citizen. He's just as much a True Blue Aussie as Russell Crowe, Jane Campion and Pavlova! But nice try. ;)

  • @CoyoteAussie Are we allowed to swap celebs with NZ though

  • LOL..freaking funny as hell

  • Brilliantly written. Brilliantly performed.

  • @teslaglobal well i dont see your vids so popular

  • "wats the minimum crew requerment ? errrrh 1 i supose " ahahaha

  • Reminds me of a Sarah Palin interview except there's more funny parts.

  • This is amazing. It's as perfect as "Who's on First?" It always makes me laugh.

  • he dug his own grave XD

  • This is like Monty Python or something.

  • this is hilarious but what is it from?

  • Really, is this for real?

  • @ih8grep nope

  • "outside the enviorment" "in another enviorment" "no, not the enviorment" "it's beyond the enviorment" "no not in an enviorment"

"any mateirial restrictions?" "cardboards out" "paper?" "no, no paper" "senator collins is there a minimum crew requirment?" "well, 1 i suppose..."

    soooooooooo funny

  • ahaha chance of a muillion

  • @keilxkey2255 no. You really were just an idiot. That is a pretty thick Australian accent, and sounds not alike any British colloquial accent at all.

  • this is the funniest interaction i have ever witnessed lmao

  • Poe's law

"It is impossible to tell for certain the difference between genuine stupidity and a parody of stupidity."

  • This is why you shouldn't believe in ghosts. It looks so real, it sounds so real and no one would waist time faking it, right? Wrong. It's fake, but you know you wish it wasn't! :)

  • Enjoyed.

  • Why do I feel like I'm watching Monty Python.

  • @myk3333 its fake mon

  • British are the most entertaning bullshit-artists

  • @keilxkey2255 He's Australian. :-/

  • @TheTranquilityBase

I had a feeling someone would respond to me with that comment, trying to make me look like an idiot.

His accent is difficult to discern for me. The man might be australian, I mean, this video is australian-satire, right? But to me, this man's australian accent and a british accent sound very alike.

I took a shot in the dark at guessing which one it was, and I got it wrong. So what?

  • @keilxkey2255 so he corrected you

  • @roidroid

    again, so what?

  • @keilxkey2255 So don't take it personally

  • @roidroid

    I didn't.

  • @keilxkey2255 your huge reply suggests otherwise

  • @keilxkey2255 He is actually a New Zealander. I suspect he has adopted a 'comedy' type accent for performance... I've seen him in an old NZ comedy program as a stereotypical NZ farmer in gumboots and black singlet (Fred Dagg, was it?) and he used a similar accent doing that character.

  • @TheTranquilityBase Nope, the person being 'interviewed' is a New Zealander :D

  • Australian political satire at its best

  • I like the part where he said "the front fell off".

  • Brilliant.

  • First i thought this was some real guy that just happen to sound like "real-life" monty python sketch =))

  • this shit was hard

  • "Senator collins thanks for coming in"

Oh, are we only supposed to quote the funny parts?

  • @reuntes your joke has been towed outside the environment for everyone's safety :)

  • Is this guy for real or is he a comedian ? HILARIOUS!p

  • @AustinSwill Comedian.

  • "The front fell off". I highly recommend this excuse for any situation.

  • what's the minimum crew requirement? one i suppose....

he truly is a master of bullshit

  • Comment removed

  • at .33 dawe almost loses it. lol

  • This video is the funniest damn thing I have ever seen.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • Haha. When was this recorded. Seems like Python inspired comedy.

  • @TheMerlinOfAR I thought the same, very similar style. Very funny too.

  • Is this sketch comedy?

  • @BrettDunbar yes, this is a sketch comedy. The two guys (Clarke and Dawe) make up a little sketch every week about something major that happened and then present in a hilarious way. In this case - the bow of a ship legitimately fell off (ie. "the front fell off") a ship off the coast of Western Australia.

  • this is so sad...... hahahahahahaha

  • Great. I love the interviewers near-corpsing - can't blame him.

  • If Clarke put his name down I'd vote for him!

  • Brilliant

  • Hahaha videos like this make me proud to be Australian lol. :P

  • @forbzy1590 and me proud to be a kiwi... like John Clarke.

  • Oh dear me you poor deluded fool. History will always repeat itself if you forget or are not vigilant. Google THE FABIAN SOCIETY - founded in the 19th century and based on the works of Marx. Do you think their ideals have changed? I think not. You are naive to think otherwise. Gillard is the current Queen of the Fabian Society, and was a radical socialist at Uni. I saw it! Gillard was the Secretary of the Socialist Forum Group. You just believe what you want to believe.

  • A lot of this sounds like things we hear now about the BP Oil Gusher in the Gulf of Mexico.

i'm not saying it wasn't safe, it jsut wasn't as safe as some of the others. Some of them are built so they don't blow up and sink.

  • I thought this was real until he said "cardboard." Not even Palin could be that dense.

I resumed laughing manically. I have now discovered something wonderful and will see all "clarke and dawe" vids.

    Oh, thank you!

    Thank you, Reddit!

  • @smalltalkingchicken Upvoted. I agree, I laughed so hard. Thanks again Reddit!!

  • @smalltalkingchicken yikes. You're going to watch them ALL?

They have been doing one skit a week for 21 years now.

    That's over 1000 skits!

  • ah, I remember this video... still makes me laugh my ass off. xD

  • Damn near two years later since I found this video and it's still funny.

  • Sounds like the same rules for Deepwater....

  • "And a fire"

  • "Well, a wave hit it!" "A wave hit it?" "A wave hit the ship." "Is that unusual?" "Oh yeah! At sea?! Chance of a million!"

  • @djHaQ

Yeah, we all watched the video.

  • And I just made you upset laaussie by making a joke about it...I'm thinking this could be fun in itself. lol, relax..enjoy...don't get your face in a knot :o)

  • These guys are seriously funny and so good at what they do, in england we have a duo called Bird and Fortune who do political satire but i must admit your guys take the trophy! brilliant stuff!

  • k, so does this guy actually know he's this fuck'n stupid?? gawd!!

  • @wolvamom You are the stupid one! it is a satire!!!! JOKE?????

  • I doubt the environment is perfectly safe when it's on fire and full of oil, and you can't tow the ship out of any environment unless you move it to SPACE, and even that is an environment in itself. WTF HAHAHAHA it's amazing to me how politicians of today say the worst things and expect people to either believe there false information, or not say anything at all for fear of their government. Might I note, they said "The front fell off" 9 times in 2 mins. Classic...

  • @WillOwenGage You must be dumb. He is NOT a real politician It is a satire!!

  • @WillOwenGage

    political satire bro

  • biting Australian political satire at its best.

  • is this serious?

  • @AdamRHolt You people must all be really STUPID!!

  • I'd love to see Michael Palin play the part of the guy being interviewed.

  • BP should hire him.

  • this is classic Monty Pythonesque!

  • This sounds like a Monty Python skit. And the Aussy accent doesnt help lol

    AUSTRALIA AUSTRALIA AUSTRALIA!

  • Is this for real?

  • lmfao!!

  • Wow, this guys i just giving him the runaround, man...

  • YES

  • Journalist are stupid too.

  • "Well the front's not supposed to fall off for a start." ROFL

  • Reminds me of Monty Python.

  • The Front Fell Off

  • New drinking game:

-When one repeats what the other just said - 1 shot

-When the Senator says anything pertaining to the front falling off (any conjugation of the verb) - 1 shot

-When they start talking over each other - drink until they finally start taking turns again

-When the speakers say a sentence, ask or answer a question with less than five words - 3 shots (or if you think you're still sober enough to keep count, 1 shot per word)

  • I'm not a politician because if i was I would be like The Senator here... and people wouldn't believe me very long....

    Anyway, i love it !

  • When was this first broadcast? Dawe looks much younger than he is now - is this Ch 9 days?

  • "some are built so the front doesn't fall off at all"

"the front's not supposed to fall off for a start"

"well, the front fall off in this case"

  • one in a million chance for a wave to hit the ship in the ocean... lol

  • What.

  • You cut the punch line off! He asks for a taxi because the front fell off of his car.

  • Well cardboards out

  • i 2 am beyond the environment

  • "And a fire"

  • Don't you love Australian humour??!!

  • Bill Kristol, editor of the Weekly Standard, was unconcerned on an April 29 Fox News panel. "The oil spill, itself, I don't think will be a huge disaster over the medium and long term, honestly." Having assessed the disaster thusly, he worried whether the public and politicians will be "grown up enough ... not to let one incident drive policy." After all, Kristol noted, offshore drilling is "very environmentally clean, except when there is a disaster like the spill."

  • and what else?.............. and a fire.. LOOL

  • haha xD "well what happend then?" a wave hit the ship xD

  • Is this for real, or is it a sketch? :D

  • For all those that can't figure it out if this is real or not.

    1) Your an idiot.

    2) These people are two satirists that have been doing these sketches weekly on the 7:30 Report on ABC (Australia) since 1997 and before that on A Current Affair since 1989. They are extremely good and I would recommend buying their DVD.

  • @manbearpig900 Learn how to use You/You're before slapping people as idiots feller

  • @imnotpeter Dude it is a Youtube comment, you can't expect people to care about grammar and spelling.

  • @manbearpig900 so when DO you care about grammar and spelling, if not when you're using it?

  • @aghostisborn You care about correct grammar when you are writing about something important on a website that isn't notorious for its horrible comments and angry community base. I really can't be bothered to read through my comments once I have typed them. It is not like they are ever going to accomplish anything other than the entertainment or brief information to others. You obviously knew what I meant when I made a mistake so what's the problem?

  • @manbearpig900 i'm just asking, when do you use correct grammar and spelling? what would the situation have to be for you to think to yourself "alright, i gotta have good grammar when typing this shit out".

my point is that if you have good grammar you'll always use it.

  • @aghostisborn Did you not read my previous response? Basically it said, I care about my grammar when I care about what I am writing. This is Youtube. The general Youtube community is notorious for being pretty stupid, rude, crude, and generally retarded. I really don't care about whether or not I made a very small mistake and used 'your' instead of 'you're' in a comment on a video on Youtube. It was a small, small, SMALL mistake. It isn't a big deal. it doesn't even qualify as a deal at all.

  • @manbearpig900 yes i read your response, and you didn't answer my question in either one. when DO you care about good grammar? i already know when you don't care.

also, if you ARE going to be calling people idiots, it is pretty useful not to come off as less than intelligent than the person you are making fun of, right? i think so. so your reasoning for not caring about grammar and spelling on youtube are not valid. you fail.

  • @aghostisborn I am going to quote my last 2 comments for you.

"You care about correct grammar when you are writing about something important on a website that isn't notorious for its horrible comments and angry community base."

    and

"I care about my grammar when I care about what I am writing."

How did I not answer your question?

If you want to be pedantic about everything you write on a Youtube comment then go ahead. I myself don't care about it. This has been fun, thanks for playing : )

  • @aghostisborn Sorry but it's correct grammar to begin your sentence with a capital letter.

  • @felthrian apology accepted.

  • @felthrian Well, no. Capitalization has nothing to do with grammar.

  • @manbearpig900

    Kill Self.

  • Monty Python remake .. looool!

  • This has got to be Monty Python, there is no way this is real... LOL

  • Lol! i swear to god i thought this was a comedy sketch

  • please tell me this is comedy...LOL

    "And?"

"And 20 000 tons of crude oil"

    Epic :)

  • @DhorianGray don't forget the fire!! =]

  • Hilarious! Thanks for this.
