In 'enlightened' nations such as the USA, the laws are now such that it is a bad idea for men to get married & have kids. Because the divorce rates are so high, men know that there is a 40% - 50% chance that we won't be allowed to raise our children.

@ejdf870 Not that this is consciously in their minds (proximate motive) but it evolutionarily makes sense (ultimate motive) that women are less likely to randomly have sex. Biologically, men have a lot of cheap, unlimited sperm. Women, have a limited number of eggs and if they become pregnant, have a 9 month obligation. Makes sense that they want to find fewer but higher quality mates while mens' primal sides want more and more mates.
