  • reminds me of a james bond intro

  • Matthew Weiner (writer/creator) was supervising producer for the sopranos when the show aried for its 6 seasons and came out with Mad Men... I've been watching both for as long as i can remember and Mad Men is still the best written & directed show out there.

  • This into makes me feel cooler for watching the show. It's just so cool.

  • Mad Men Drinking Game:

1 Shot for every cigarette smoked.

2 Shots for every sexist and racist comment or remark

3 shots every-time Don cheats on his wife or a male character makes a move on a female character.

Good luck making it through the first episode!

  • Suddenly, PONIES!

    Wanna watch Mad Ponies, anyone?

  • I bought Utz from Shop Rite... Sales are going up indeed!

  • Just love the way that beat kicks in at 0:27 ... Yes I confess i sometimes rewind my dvd just to hear it again xD

  • Sounds like a slightly jazzy Hitchcock intro!!

    Love it!!Don Draper's da man!!

  • i love this open! genius!

just saw a band in L.A.. they are the mad men of the music scene. ck them out.

    search

    nutty press video

  • Anyone else thinks this is how the show will end? With Don committing suicide?

  • omg, so classy **

  • intro reminds of 9/11 falling man

  • me gusta(:

  • sometimes when I'm watching MM, I rewind it, just to listen, watch and enjoy both animation and music. terrific.

  • One of the coolest TV themes ever... ;-)

  • God Bless Mad Men

  • the show reminds me of Bioshock, before everyone went crazy

  • "Casino Royale" anyone?

  • I love the beats near the end when don is sitted and smoking

  • I don't even know the show, but the intro has me hooked.

  • What is the soundtrack of this opening???

  • MAD HOMER

  • L.A. Noire fanbois are so dumb they think this show takes place in the 40's.

  • @haroof It's more to do with the fact that a lot of actors from this show had their faces used in the game for the facial animation.

  • @50Dashes Only one actor from the show showed their face :3

  • @delta2ish My bad.

  • @haroof LOL yay I know, probably because the 60's itself was usually presented as the 70's most likely

  • I love La Noire, but all these fucking fanboys are invading the comments.

  • RJD2 is a genius.

  • we all wanna be don draper (or roger sterling without heart attacks)

  • This series should end with Jon jumping out the window and going splat splat.

  • I really enjoy the drums. Reminds me of Rush.

  • LA Noire is the reason I watch this show

  • @johannart2 What does LA noire have to do with this game!?

  • @delta2ish First of all, your comment doesn't make any fucking sense. Second, read the two top comments you fucking idiot.

  • @johannart2 I made another Comment saying What does LA noire have to do with this Show Dumbass. Plus If you think you will get top comment with that comment then you are dumb. Heck even the Top comments are stupid.

  • @delta2ish Then don't why don't you reply to the top comments. I'm not trying to get the top comment you insecure fuck

  • @johannart2 Why would I complain to the top comments They gave quotes Except the bottom one which is stupid. But Seoriously what does LA Noire have to do with this show?

  • @delta2ish Aaron Staton, who plays Ken Kosgrove is also the main character in Mad Men, Cole Phelps. They reason why it's such a big deal is, Rockstar wanted to make a more realistic character and made the faces of the game look like the real life characters.

  • @johannart2 So? A Actor played a Role in a Video game Cool? Plus Besides the fact that one actor played a Role in LA noire there is no Similarities. Its not like I put down the game and say Whos Aaron Staton? I look at his Bio and say Mad men I guess I will watch this show I never heard of and has nothing to do with La noire!....

  • @delta2ish WTF you ass! have you ever even played LA: noir? clearly you have not, as you cant see the similaritys of this intro and that game. and honestly; i think his first comment is high-larios.

    jeez.

  • @ottodude555 I played the game Repetitive and boring but aside from that. This intro has nothing to do with the game NOTHING! Plus what similarities? This takes place in 60's Noire takes place in 40's, This is about Advertasing Noire is about Crime.

  • @ottodude555 Please tell me some of the similarities then. I'd love to know more.

  • Does anyone know the artist who created this?

  • Reminds me of the movie from Hitchcock "Vertigo". There's one scene where the leading actor falls down, but it looks illustrated or something. Just like the way Don Draper is falling down. coinincidence? probably not.. because mad man supports around the same time.. i think :)

  • @nancyyyy1 Acuttly thats what this Opening Scene is Inspired from.

  • @nancyyyy1 reminds me of the opening credits fo casino royale

  • @nancyyyy1 it could be a reference to the movie :)

  • I. LOVE. MAD MEN.

  • I can't belive HBO passed on this.Still now I get to watch something thats not CSI without paying extra.

  • @Dontmakemecomeover5

I completely agree with you! How HBO missed this hit show I will never understand.

  • @ManUntdForever Well HBOs made so many hit shows alerdy.I'll give them there right to make one mistake.

  • @ManUntdForever

    No sex enough xD

  • 99 francs while falling?

  • @BatBlackWolf Yeah I was misled by a friend of mine, my bad.

  • i hate pete campell with all my heart that guy is such a douche

  • @packdude182 The Junior exec? Same here.

  • @packdude182 I like him.Like anyone else woludn't do what hes done to get higher up.Business is about competion.

Mind you I haven't seen season 4 yet.

  • @Dontmakemecomeover5 im halfway through season 2 i just hate his character

  • alright. . . . who hit the physics inhibitor button

  • @BatBlackWolf The fact that they say it out loud during some episodes, as well as events happening in the decade(i.e. Kennedy being shot) clearly makes you right. It's not even a contest.

  • TIMMY!!! YOU DIVIDED ZERO BY ZERO!!! DIDN'T YOU????

  • Do I hear RJD2?

  • is it just me or does any1 else wish that the foot kicks don 0:18

  • @kal999 its you

  • @kal999 Yeah, because the drink ripples when he goes past it, why can't he be kicked by a foot?

  • @kal999 definitivamente!

  • Comment removed

  • the drumming gets me everytime

  • portal??? mmmmm no.

  • Coolest opening creds ever. period.

  • @BatBlackWolf It's not the 60's.

  • @BatBlackWolf haha ok cool, so the story actually picks up thats good to hear, i'll keep watching

  • i watched the first 2 ep of season 1 and they were boring, does it eventually pick up and get better?

  • @JSasRays Yes. Though if you don't understand or just plain don't like the concept of the show, then you most likely won't like the rest of it.

It really goes into detail into how everybody was trying to become the kings of the middle class, and how the person who pretty much had it all (Don draper I think, the main character), has it slowly crash down around him.

It's entirely dialogue driven, so it's really not or everyone.

  • mad men kicks ass

  • çok güzel bir açılışı var

  • love this show man

  • Casino royale anyone?

  • @ohxsnaps - rjd2. it looks like lionsgate bought the rights to that song. i was really shocked when i saw this song on spotify and had to look it up right away b/c he's one of my favorite producers/musicians/whathaveyou and never thought twice that that would have been his work. also i've actually never seen the opening credits to mad men until now heh

  • opening song? so seductive, anyone know the name?

  • 43 People fell out a building.

  • should i watch this series? like start from season 1, is it worth my time?

  • yes @JSasRays it's worth your time...i made the same question to myself but I download all 4 seasons. amazing series

  • @luissantos7 cool thanks man, what do you like better? this or breaking bad, i doubt any shows better than breaking bad but just wondering

  • @JSasRays

I love Breaking Bad:) but must say i like Dexter a little more.. Now im gonna watch Mad Men:P!

  • @discjockeyjole i love dexter too but idk something about br bad is just so good

  • @JSasRays

Breaking Bas IS awsome.. actually just made a fanmade trailer of it:) you can go to my channel and see it if you like:P

Thank god that season 4 has just begun:)

I have to wait till fall for more dexter:/

  • @discjockeyjole haha yeah i feel your pain, waiting a year for season 4 breaking bad was hard and waiting for season 6 dexter is just as hard

  • @JSasRays

I have been sick for 2 months now.. so have been home in bed, watched the entire series of Dexter, Breaking Bad, Misfits, Merlin, Game of thrones and Misfits:P lol..

    Liked them all:)

Saw the first episode of Mad Men yesterday, finded it a bit boring, but sometimes it takes a bit time for a show to catch me..

Should i give it a descent chance?

I know there's not much action, and it aint nescesary, but then there's gotta be a great plot, and some twist and stuff:P

  • @discjockeyjole

Being a big fan of Dexter, Breaking bad and Game of Thrones myself, Mad Men is my favourite series. I also found the first, maybe the first two epidodes, a bit boring, but after that it gets really good. Your expectations are right: there isn't much action, but the plot, acting and the characters' development are quite good.

To sum it up - try it, you won't regret it. Cheers!

  • is this show a show that mostly guys would like or girls? just wondering

  • Comment removed

  • Matthew Weiner... it'd suck to have that name.

  • Did you know that's actually John Slattery (Roger) playing the falling silhouette? I'm 17 and love this show! It'd be cool if you could tell me what you think of my Mad Men art, just look for 'Lloyd Whittle' under people on Flickr!

  • Wow, how amazing! I'm totally gonna watch Mad Men next year.

  • does anyone know what's the exact name of this song? I really want to download it to my cell phone :) I really enjoy listening to.. Please help thx :D

  • @princessinlullaby "A beautiful Mine" by RJD2 :)

  • @Delphiii thank you very much :D

  • This is the definition of swagger.

  • Come on. They couldn't even get rid of the Lucida text in the opening credits? They didn't have Lucida in the 60s. They hand-lettered most things and had stencils for others. /typefacenerding

  • I can't help but think of Spy from TF2 whenever I see this

  • Cole phelps

  • rjd2 is a genius

  • Does it get better after the Pilot? I mean, it was ok, I don't know if I have time for another T.v show lol, is it worth it to get invested?

  • @Sheeraudacity this is the reaction most people have. the pilot is just a taste, it gets much better. i was faced with a similar position as you and i'm glad i watched on

  • PHELPS. Badge Twelve Forty Seven. Operator, give me R&I.

  • did anyone else wonder if this is hinting that Don Draper is eventually gonna off himself or is that way too obvious?

  • @MrRebeccaSlumber yeah to obvious..i see it more as him drowning in a world hes trying to stay at the top of.... like SPOILERSPOILER him trying to forget his past! but he never seems to be able to!

  • I started watching Mad Men 2 weeks ago, and I finished it yesterday. I'm obsessed. This show is goddamn brilliant! SHAKING N CRYING 4 SEASON FIVE

  • @sixsixseveneight Sure, but you ought to pay more attention to the point or the purpose of what I wrote. Ask yourself: "Is what I'm reading about real history or about the show and it's opening credits?"

  • Casino Royale? awesome intro, very abstract.

  • Everything is falling a apart, the men are falling, the men feel like they're falling, sex still sells like crazy, but women are slowly gaining some control, gaining a voice, maybe some feeling like they can finally kick their men, while ads reassure us that everything is going to be ok, you are ok, the happy 50's family is relevant, stop worrying about it and sit back and smoke your Luckies. That and booze are the only real ways to deal with the madness on Madison Ave & the rest of the U.S.A.

  • You can't wait until 2012, so what Fall show are you more excited for: Pan Am or Play Boy Club?

  • Comment removed

  • I'm waiting for Don's new thing to disintegrate so he can jump and reference the titles, or for Roger's failures and ultimate unhappiness and inability to be with the his one true piece of ass to push HIM to jump and reference them. Yeeah... I don't think anyone jumps... it's a metaphor for drinking, smoking, and ulcers.

  • its so weird watching Cole Phelps from L.A. Noire act in real time.

  • Pure class.

  • Part of the sound on this reminds me of George Jetson's car. Appropriate really.

  • wow i cant believe they used RJD2 for the intro song. i might just fucking watch this show

  • I felt like coming here after playing LA Noire.

  • @EchoBoomer1987 doesnt that game take place 20 years before this show?

  • this intro gives me life!

  • best opening show, sober, classic and beautiful, perfect

  • i dont get it

  • Great opening. Sleek efficient and fresh.

  • OMG this show is full of propaganda

  • @mtWHITE100

    What do you mean?

It shows very well how higher middle class jobs/business makes your life miserable and poisons your soul.

It depicts what it's like to be a part of corporatocracy.

  • @ManSmokingACigarette dude that was a terrible analysis

  • @mtWHITE100

    Really smart ass?

Then what is the right analysis?

  • @mtWHITE100

Well, I have watched a couple of episodes in the mean time and it does have some propaganda, but it really is a deep and good story.

I like it a lot so far.

  • @ManSmokingACigarette Then you haven't watched enough episodes yet. I thought the analogy was spot on.

  • @DamianColucci

    Might be.

  • This would've worked great with Lost as well. :P

  • Nice reverence to Hitchcock's Vertigo.

  • @gamatos22 is it any good?

  • no me gusta, ¡¡¡me encanta!!!

  • 11:11

    Classy Women Lags

  • I don't see the Portal 2 reference, can someone point it out?

  • @Guy705 some guy made a portal vid referncing mad men. look it up. its called man made

  • @Guy705 valve made a portal version if this thats it.

  • Dexter

  • Is it me, or do the credits to this resemble the Hustle credits pretty damn well? Just with different backdrops to the silhouette guy?

  • what is this show about?

  • Portal and Mirrors edge anyone?

  • Portal 2 anyone?

  • @TheToolwardio

    In what way?

  • @Catmangamer i don't remember why i posted what comment

  • i love the part starting from 0:27 onwards ;)

  • @RetroKimmie Everyone does being that it's the most badass part of the song.

  • @maxjordan90 Wow, I thought I was the only one! The first time I heard that part I literally got goosebumps. <3

  • I find it so ironic that there's an advertisement for this video.

  • To me no other opening out there sets the tone and mood for the show quite like Mad Men's does. Incredible.

  • i just saw an L.A. band that is totally Mad Men! Their style and vibe. ck them out.

    search cinnamon doll jazz

    yow!!!!!!!!!

  • nice

  • I wanna drink at work and call the lady in the next cubicle sweetheart.

  • sounds very much like the max payne 2 theme

  • Hey does anybody have that zippo lighter with the mad men emblem on it? ill buy it off you high priced

  • If it wasn't for Season 4 of The Wire, Mad Men would be the greatest show of all time. But let's see what season 5 has in store because it might just tip The Wire!

  • RJD2

  • Can't wait for Season 5!

  • There are two reasons to watch Mad Men. One is to see how great writing, spot-on acting and sublime music combines to make one of the best televison series in decades, one that is intelligent, entertaining and manages to appeal to many demographics without any problem. The other, of course, is Christina Hendricks.

  • Reminds me of James Bond

  • My resolution to quit smoking could be very hard to accomplish while I'm watching Mad Men. I like that show pretty much but everybody smokes too much.

  • if i like Dexter, House, Boardwalk Empire, The Walking Dead, and Six Feet under, will i like Mad Men?

  • @789123456789 Yes, you´ll love it!!!!!!!!! especially if you like Boardwalk Empire

  • @789123456789 yes))

  • It's the snare on 28s that makes it.
