@amme2112 You mean and instrumental version? Perhaps, some day. I'd have to work up an arrangement for solo guitar with some variations, otherwise it would sound rather redundant after the first or second time through!
I know how you feel. The first few times I tried to sing it, I got a little choked up myself. Kind of puts you there at the cross, but knowing what we know now. "Ashamed I hear my mocking voice call out among the scoffers..."
I've been humming this all day. Tonight I've listened to a few versions, but this is the one I've enjoyed most; it was worth the effort of doing it a few times and polishing it. Although I usually prefer the older hymns, this is one of the more recent hymns that have a flavour of the times when some of the classic hymns were written. I think it will become a future classic, and I hope the choir which which I sing will be performing it for many years to come.
Yeah, and the thing is, since I uploaded this rendition, I have learned a slightly different arrangement that I would have liked better. But that's okay, I at least got the melody right on this one!
You did a Great Job with this piece, you should look up the Steve Pettit Evangelistic Team cd ''Jesus, My Lord,My God My All.'' This is my favorite song on that cd.
I have been wanting to learn this song on guitar so badly. Is there any way you can get me your version of it? That would be amazing. I am not great on the guitar but I love to teach myself songs that I can sing to, and this is one of the best.
The picking pattern is basically p m i p m i a m, where p=thumb, m=middle finger, i=index finger, and a=third or ring finger. Your thumb would obviously play any bass string that goes with the whatever chord you're playing, while your index finger generally plays the 3rd or G string (or what ever note that happens to be in a given chord), your middle finger plays the 2nd or B string, and your 3rd finger plays the 1st or high E string. Hope that helps!
My wife and I have been talking lately about how new worship music seems to miss the mark at getting the TRUTH out. This is one of our favorite songs. You did a fantastic job and I know it makes the Lord happy to hear His children using their God-given talents to praise His name. Check out a song by the Newsboys called In Christ Alone. Its another great one!
Yes, I don't know that I have anything really against much of the modern worship music, but it does seem to lack depth and conviction in many cases. I believe the songs we sing should be sung in the Spirit AND Truth.
C, F & G for the first two verses and then D, G and A for the break and the last verse. If you want I can send you a chord chart if you'll PM me your e-mail address.
Ashamed i hear my mocking voice call out among the scoffers. The first time i heard this line i was close to tears. As i just know if i was there then that's probably what i would have done. Before i was reborn.
I hear you. God indeed is good! He loved you and me when we were still His enemies. How can we (knowing what He has done foe us) not now love Him in return?
Very nice. Not many songs are this scriptural. It is very peaceful. Thanks I love songs that are right on scripturally. He was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquity
There are a lot of songs that are scriptural. They are the old hymns of the faith, not the contemporary Christian rock. A lot of the times, a hymn will be based on a verse, and we don't even realize it, because we are more familiar with the song, than with the verse. You should get a Majesty's Hymns. It is an excellent hymn book, but a good variation on hymns. It has a verse for every song in it. =)
God was glorified. Thanks for the lyrics you posted with awesome rendition. I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ for it is the Power of God to Salvation.
hey MARTIN its not how good we sing GOD sees with how much love we praise HIM thats important I think but you know one thing God has bkessed you with an amazing voice and a good guitar. We need more improvised version of many songs from you Martin>GOD BLESS YOU......AND THE BLESSING CONTINUES.....
Very nice Jack, and yes His wounds have paid the ransom. I really think that it would sound nice with your wife singing a little harmony. But beautiful nonetheless. God Bless.
She's been in South Dakota for the past month and a half taking a course at Black Hills Health and Education Center. But she'll be back on Nov. 4th. Perhaps we can start making videos together again soon, though it is difficult to get her in front of the camera. I really love singing harmony.
You had me going for half a second, I thought your were going to say it was somewhat less than awesome! lol Thanks Scott. I always appreciate it when you stop by. You're a loyal friend.
I'm not sure that you need to sing the melody exactly the same as the original. It can be your interpretation. After all Dylan, for example, sang his own songs in many different ways on different occasions. Anyway it sounds great.
In many cases I would agree with you, but in this case, the original melody was much better than I was coming up with. I did, however, modify the lyrics slightly to reflect my understanding better.
It could only be better if Laurie were back home. She's been in South Dakota taking a personal training course for the past month and a half. She'll be back home on November 4th. I can hardly wait!
I love that song! And you did a lovely rendition of it. Thanks for letting people know about my Mental Health Moments video. It's a new world for me. . .keep singing and playing.
You're entirely welcome. I'm glad to be of service to you in that way. And as far as singing and playing is concerned, it's not likely I'll ever quit unless I lose my voice and/or hands. It's kind of an obsession really.
