thta's the problem with aircraft carriers the suvalibatiy (i know it's wrong) is no armor a battleship would survive that attack and the navy relise on missles to much

But that carrier could have had an older system todays CWIS is the best there is. one missile would never reach the ship but if they fired a ton of them then yes. That is if the missiles got past all of the cruisers that protect it.

@razgriz545 but it lacks in manuverability, not no mention the insane maninence it requires. but i love useing the 14' in these games, you can go as fast as possable, and still slow down enough that it forces the boss planes to fly right infront of you.

@dean84921 true, it does lack maneuverability. but that can be easily fixed with an overhaul and upgrade package to improve it maneuverability. and to lower Maintenance build new aircraft. so you got new planes with all the best stuff and lower Maintenance requirements. cuz the new planes don't have thousands to tens of thousands of flight hours on them. the old 14s A, B, and D were built 30, 40 years ago.

u upgrad the f-14 with more modern stuff and it is so much better the the F/A-18

Only problem is that you can't really upgrade a plane that's basically shredded into bits now, and the ones in museums aren't even flyable... not to mention Tomcats just require so much maintenance and time

It's still a badass, fast naval interceptor though. You don't hear see or hear people marveling how fast Hornets and Superhornets can go.

then build new ones we have the plans so all it will take is a new engine and other items in them and vuala the f/a 18 sucks and the reason that the take so much maintenance time is they're old so build new ones

It's not a matter of the plane being old or new, the Tomcat simply requires more maintenance thanks to its swing wing configuration.

Also, a new engine or 'other items' like a better radar isn't exactly gonna make the Tomcat on par to 5th generation fighters. If it did, I shudder to imagine just how much money the military would end up using to upgrade a plane.

Besides, Iran has Tomcats too, though they're poorly maintained. The U.S Navy doesn't want to be a source to get spare parts from.
