I absolutely love this movie. Gets emotional and the hair stands up on your neck. Redford's performance is awesome. The music choreography is perfect.
Hay veces que te encuentras peliculas que ni sabias que existian...y hay veces..solo pocas veces que traen finales o escenas que nunca olvidaras....Esta es una de ellas!!!!!
I had someone ask me why I(WE) liked films where we know the "underdog" is going to win(The Natural,Dodgeball,Major League). My answer was that we don't just like them,we NEED them. there is so much bad in the world. So many times the "good guys"(if you can even identify the good guys) lose, that we need something like The Natural to remind us that that evil doesn't win EVERY time. We need hope. Average Joes Gym,the New York Knights? They give us hope.
The year the Tigers won their first 35 of 40 games. The Year the Tigers won their last World Series. The year when I think baseball's integrity was just on its last legs perhaps with only a couple years to go before basbeall would encounter Steroids and related uses that were known to baseball in the late 80's. This movie personifies the mysticism of baseball in its most pristine form of what baseball really means. I remember the older days of baseball - for the modern are all deceitful.
I don't mean to be pedantic or anything, but on the long foul you can see the bat is still intact on the follow through. Maybe it cracked on impact and broke when he dropped it.
hey man thanks so much for posting. I dont mean to critize, but you could of also included the game of catch with his son ;-). Take care and God bless this film.
My heart broke with his bat. Then it got better when he shattered the scoreboard.

I meant, the lights. Badassness. It's the only game where the defense has (sans for homeruns) the ball.

I love the movie, but wouldn't have been a foul ball if it hit the lights? From what I remember the lights were only on the foul side of the field?
