I love this song but...My dear friend Peter, you'll need much more than 3 football-sized chorists to reach the perfect sound you made with Artie...I think 300 won't be enough.
Simon and Garfunkel together are still the best....
Bring back the 60's FOREVER! Beatles, 69 Z 28 Camaro's Apollo Space Missions and God's Gift to Folk Music.. Simon and Garfunkle. This vid and music takes me back to a MUCH BETTER day and time than 2011.
Live Rhymin' is my favourite live album of all time, but I don't understand, is there footage of the whole show, or just this song? Any feedback appreciated.
I bought this album in 1974 and still think his it's one of the best. Paul Simon was underated as a singer and guitar player, which he is fantastic at both. But when you are simply the best American songwriter in history, you get more captivated by his songwriting than anything else.
What a tremendous version of this song! Absolutely brilliant. And btw who is that black organist/singer that joins in on 1.45? I'd say he fits into the song perfectly with his fantastic voice!
Una maravilla. Este LP (¿?) es uno de los que más me sorprendieron en su momento. Escuchar canciones sin Garfunkel y cantadas tal y como el que las compuso quiso. Tengo todos sus discos, pero los de Garfunkel también. ;-)
Anyone have any idea what the exact date of this show is or why this was professionally filmed? Clearly many people worked on making this concert film but only this little clip seems to have surfaced over the years. The Live Rhymin' album came out in 1974 but it was likely recorded in late 1973 as was this clip, although the EXACT details of that album and this clip have long remained elusive....someone has these answers but I can't seem to find that someone....HELP ME!!
@Filmcode here is a posting from Paul Simon forum re this video
"Live Rhymin´ Tour was footaged. In fact the video of "The Sound Of Silence" song from that recording was used on US TV to promote some Simon compilations long time ago and also it was aired by VH1 many years ago too. In fact I (and many other Old fans) have got that video in an excellent quality (nowadays also on mpg file " | Hope this is helpful
This is not the same version from the CD, because the CD was made with a selection of the best performance of each song (Live Rhymin' was a tour, so Paul gave many concerts that year, all of them with Jessy Dixon and Urubamba).
@sc1590 hey thanks for your answer I didn't notice it (you didn't reply my comment). I was sure something was wrong. Anyway the CD album looks like a full concert not a selection but you must be right, it looks very short for a concert, doesn't it?
there is something wrong that I can not explain, this is different from the CD Live Rhymin. You can noticewhen he sings "...take my arms that I might reach you..." both versions are completely different, anyone knows why???
Why don't you post anything else? I visited VH1 page and I am not allowed to watch (outside US), I wolud like tosse America's version from this concert. Thanks a lot for providing us this jewel.
Where can you find full footage of whole show?

@casper1918 Just about *every* song on this album is the best version ever! And I agree, this is one of the best live albums ever.

@casper1918 This is one of the best Live Albums ever. It also contains the best version of the Boxer, I've ever heard.

@ddraguti It must be Jessy Dixon, the leader of the backup group.

Honestly I'm not crazy about this version. I prefer the song with Art, or solo.
