not to take anything away from the g8, but 20k worth of mods and labor to pull a bolt on cobra isn't that impressive. Race a cobra with an aftermarket blower and try this again, that would be interesting.
Yeah I figured that looked weak for the Termi.....A BAP and 60 lb Injectors should be more than sufficient, unless you're going to be aiming for the 560-700 hp range! But you'd need to ditch the Eaton.
Hey guys the car was nowhere near where it was suppose to be when I ran the G8. Had to replace fuel pumps and get the car retuned as well I found out a valve was closed off causing the car to not hit instant max boost. Before the tune the car only made 419hp/404tq. The car now makes 490hp/530tq running out of fuel at 5500rpms. Even as it sits now the car is not to it's full potential. Will be upgrading the fuel system here shortly and going after that extra 30-40hp I'm leaving on the table ;)
He just got the car retuned. A bypass valve or something was hooked up wrong. He was not making nearly the same amount of power. After retune he was 490rwhp 520tq, I am so far beyond where I was when we raced that it would be pointless for us to line up again. However his car is pretty sick for a stock ported blower.
If everything was true with the specs on the cobra than i gotta tip my hat off to the G8 nice car man. I havn't seen a 03 Cobra ever get beat this bad before. I'm more or less speechless

@FordGTmustang2000 You need to learn to read. A converter can make a big difference with a good driver, plus it's tuned. Not to mention gearing. More hp doesn't always mean it's going to win.
@FordGTmustang2000 This is a typical outcome because the Ford is less efficeient at getting power to the ground. Its alwaybe been fact that GM cars gets more power to the ground then fords do. Just one of the MANY reasons so many modded fords end up with GM drive train swaps.
@Topfueltrooper not that people dont swap gm stuff into mustangs, but most of them are drag only cars and older. I havent seen many street cars with that swap. And just so you know the factory cobra was rated 390hp 390 tq and most bone stock cobras put 360 to 370 hp to the ground. look it up if you need to.
Also, since this video was made there have been a couple minor tweaks made that was causing the car to lose major power and she is now making good power throughout the power curve.
@OhEightGT because you just got owned..why not save the abuse on your car do some upgrades and then try again. Racing isn't easy on any part of a car lol.
@V6stangxX probably because its got 105 more horsepower then the cobra. Not so sure what the pontiac weighs, but i own an 03 cobra and they weigh a lot (600 lbs. more then a vette)..so im not sure if your right about it being lighter then the cobra

We have since made changes since this video was made. I put on a tvs 2300 and added an ETMC Stage II Blower cam and am putting down 12psi on 19 degrees of timing making 636rwhp/566tq

Ive been to Australia and seen them in person they use the G8 and the GTO as police cars.
Lots of mods on the Lengenfelter to run that quick. With all due respect, love em or hate em, for about $4500, an STS kit would cream this. A guy last summer at our track ran 11.8 @ 122 with the turbo and only an intake. His dyno sheets showed 530rwhp and 570rwhp. He says it gets 24 mpg as a daily summer driver as well.
11.8?? I ran a 10.87 on my old setup. The 418 and tvs 2300 will easily make a 10.5x pass. Will do so in the fall. I had a rear mount turbo setup on my GTO and had to do changes to make it spool fast enough. STS has horrible ground clearance. I actually custom fabbed my GTO rear turbo kit and removed the spare tire well to get the turbo a little higher up....I also upgraded my turbo to one that had a twin scroll so I could run a quick spool valve.
Im not saying that the cobra wouldn't get beat. But fuck no that was not legit. There not many cars that are gonna leave a cobra like that. Especially a G8.
company video?? they dont even own the car anymore it is mine down in Texas. I have modded well beyond what they ever touched on this car. The only reason it is Called the Lingenfelter G8 is I dont feel like taking off all their badging. I bought their cam, and had them port some heads for me. BUt the 418 is from Texas Speed and the 2300 I bought from Hendrix Engineering and Installed it myself!
Oh there is no "may" about it, she will. New transmission, 8rib, TVS2300 and GT9 cam will be put in next week. I had to put a stock ls2 cam in when the lifters killed the GT9 so we didnt get to see what the real numbers on the 2300 would be. She put down 560rwhp with tiny cam and belt slip at 5100 where it peaked. With the 8rib we should cure the slip. Car should be putting out around 700rwhp
@2001tranzam A buddy of mine is putting the new cam in this week along with the 8rib. If all goes well I will have it dynoed on Friday June 3rd. As far as future runs I am always down.....and of course win or lose there will be a video.
Both of those cars would stomp a stock GT500 my friend... I ran a 2010 GT500 in my 06 GTO.. my car had bolt ons, a cam and a tune and made 415/396......... we wear dead nuts.
@joesnoom1 This is my G8...after this run we found out I broke a lifter. SO bad that it tore up the cam too. We didnt have another GT9 cam laying around so I put in a tiny stock ls2cam way to small for the 418. I removed the 1900 and installed the 2300. On the dyno she put down 80 more tq and hp up to 5100rpm where the belt started to slip and it peaked there. I just ordered another GT9 cam and an 8rib tensioner kit to stop the slip. Car should put around 650/700 in next week or two.
Yeah all you guys saying I was sandbagging are right. I hit it wot in second gear and went half throttle in third to allow him to start walking and then got back in it. Come on guys gee wiz. His car made a lot more than 540hp due to being extremely heat soaked on the dyno and only made 5psi on the dyno but made 7.1psi on the street. And again I've said it several times already. The driver mod is not needed because this cobra does have the driver mod

Based on the race, one of them is lying about the power they make. My guess is the Cobra. The G8 is heaver which would negate the 40hp if Cobra numbers were true. Also the Cobra supposedly makes more torque, which means it should have done better down low for similar hp numbers.

Wow people just don't read anymore and post something that has been covered several times. For one the blower is loud as hell. It's kind of hard to hear a blower whine when the main video is the gopro. Secondly the driver mod is in the cobra so STFU and gtfo.

To my supercharged 03. Sorry to say that a whipple is not going to help anymore. I have upgraded to a tvs2300 and severely upped the boost.

The cobra has the factory eaton blower and even though its ported they loose power at high rpm, put on a whipple blower on that cobra an bye bye G8..

Im not saying that the cobra wouldn't get beat. But fuck no that was not legit. There not many cars that are gonna leave a cobra like that. Especially a G8.

company video?? they dont even own the car anymore it is mine down in Texas. I have modded well beyond what they ever touched on this car. The only reason it is Called the Lingenfelter G8 is I dont feel like taking off all their badging. I bought their cam, and had them port some heads for me. BUt the 418 is from Texas Speed and the 2300 I bought from Hendrix Engineering and Installed it myself!

Oh there is no "may" about it, she will. New transmission, 8rib, TVS2300 and GT9 cam will be put in next week. I had to put a stock ls2 cam in when the lifters killed the GT9 so we didnt get to see what the real numbers on the 2300 would be. She put down 560rwhp with tiny cam and belt slip at 5100 where it peaked. With the 8rib we should cure the slip. Car should be putting out around 700rwhp

@2001tranzam A buddy of mine is putting the new cam in this week along with the 8rib. If all goes well I will have it dynoed on Friday June 3rd. As far as future runs I am always down.....and of course win or lose there will be a video.

Both of those cars would stomp a stock GT500 my friend... I ran a 2010 GT500 in my 06 GTO.. my car had bolt ons, a cam and a tune and made 415/396......... we wear dead nuts.

@joesnoom1 This is my G8...after this run we found out I broke a lifter. SO bad that it tore up the cam too. We didnt have another GT9 cam laying around so I put in a tiny stock ls2cam way to small for the 418. I removed the 1900 and installed the 2300. On the dyno she put down 80 more tq and hp up to 5100rpm where the belt started to slip and it peaked there. I just ordered another GT9 cam and an 8rib tensioner kit to stop the slip. Car should put around 650/700 in next week or two.

Yeah all you guys saying I was sandbagging are right. I hit it wot in second gear and went half throttle in third to allow him to start walking and then got back in it. Come on guys gee wiz. His car made a lot more than 540hp due to being extremely heat soaked on the dyno and only made 5psi on the dyno but made 7.1psi on the street. And again I've said it several times already. The driver mod is not needed because this cobra does have the driver mod

Based on the race, one of them is lying about the power they make. My guess is the Cobra. The G8 is heaver which would negate the 40hp if Cobra numbers were true. Also the Cobra supposedly makes more torque, which means it should have done better down low for similar hp numbers.

i saw a YT vid with a lingenfelter super charger in a vet. That thing had such a kick ass whine from the super charger!

@chevelle454ss1 It was planned to go in the shop this week to start the build, however we found out my wife would be unemployed the end of this month, so we're in conserve mode at the moment. Hopefully things will turn out positive.....and if so, I'll put a mega build on it and start poudin those screets again ;)

Wow people just don't read anymore and post something that has been covered several times. For one the blower is loud as hell. It's kind of hard to hear a blower whine when the main video is the gopro. Secondly the driver mod is in the cobra so STFU and gtfo.

@rekjavicxxx I think you're a GM fanboy, both cars are indeed sick, and I know there were no missed shifts and they left at the same time, but in the video it looks like the Cobra sandbags or lets off, then gets back in it as the G8 is already ahead...something doesn't add up in this video..

@rekjavicxxx I suppose so. G8's are really nice cars. I owned an 08 g8 gt for a while. It was stock. I now own a Whippled mustang GT and love it. You can check out the dyno video in my channel.
I suppose the owner of that cobra has been saving up for a Whipple/KB kit now huh? :P. Those thing's engines will handle 650+rwhp with the right fuel system.
