Where did you find a mortgage payment for only 1900 on a 500K home? My house was only a 300K home and my mortgage was nearly 4K a month? That is the difference between renting and owning. Did a short sale and have rented in a neighborhood that is closer to my job. Pay 2K less a month. Yes, the townhouse is a little bit smaller, but my community is walkable and friendlier to live in. I can now take that money and invest elsewhere.

I own a home in MI...worst investment ever. If I do try home ownership again, it will be a duplex where the pay-off will begin immediately.
