  • As it turned out, the game WAS a blowout. However, it was in Stanford's favor. Bill Walsh worked a lot of magic, and outcoached Lou Holtz, an all-time great college coach, so badly. The Stanford offense went to work, the defense was nasty, and Stanford scored 33 unanswered points! In addition, Stanford held Notre Dame to like less than 20 yards of total offense from there on. The final score was Stanford-33, Notre Dame-16.

  • I am talking about when Stanford and Bill Walsh went into South Bend in 1992, and Bill performed the best coaching job in the history of football. Notre Dame was awesome! Their team included Rick Mirer, Jerome Bettis, Reggie Brooks, Irv Smith, Aaron Taylor, Tim Ruddy, Demitrius Duboise, and Jim Flanagan. That Stanford team was good, but not great. Notre Dame got up 16-0, and this game had blowout written all over it.

  • After the game, Bill said, "1990 was probably a fluke, but today, we beat them fair and square."(1990 was referring to when Stanford beat Notre Dame 2 seasons before.) Do any of you remember this game? Stanford went on to have a great season and killed Penn State in the Blockbuster Bowl. Bill, you had a fabulous career, and you will be missed by all!
