well thk god u done this part of Detriot so whats going to happen with the rest of Detriot Buildings and Homes Ha. my heart goes out to people of Detriot GOD BLESS U ALL. Hope they can fixs what has happen and make detriot strong again
@coldbluerain it isnt a ghetto - its empty! On the nright side Downtow and Midtown and adjacent neighboorhoods (brush - woodbridge - layfayette ) have seen an increase in population of 30% college educated people in the past 2 years. This si the biggest jump almost anywhere in the country. if people move there it will happen.
If you build they will come - or if you buy a peice of crap for nothing and put a small amount of money it they will come
Now if you look to your right Bob you should see a fascinating drive-by, a beautiful burned out home, an unfortunate crackhead lying in the street, and the quaint little tent where Frank the homeless guy lives.
All kidding aside, it's nice to see some of the last few remaining jems left in Detroit.
@coldbluerain- not really, it's just mostly abandoned with a few scattered mansions, new condos and a new senior citizen home. the area is actually being renovated and the area is actually pretty safe.
@Brettski94 If you look at Europe, the beauty lies in history. Over 100's of years they kept and renovated the best architecture, collecting the heritage, so today, every city is a cultural museum. That's why significant buildings like that need to be restored. You won't do anyone any favors by bulldozing them or tearing down the Grand Central Train Station. That sort of mentality results in cities looking like an American suburb - boring as fuck.
It is interesting. Looks like the economy, the way the US do it, is desperate for a frontier to the point that it generates disaster areas (through economic/administrative neglect and mismanagement) such as Detroit or New Orleans and then recolonises them, just to keep things moving.

It did NOT "fall into disrepair". It was neglected and abandoned by it's owners. Do not blame anyone or anything else!

Holy cow! Look at all the space between buildings! You could plunk an entire town in between them.

Much of Brush Park was actually abandoned in the early 1900's. Way before white flight or urban blight

There are some great old homes in this city - there should be a major push to bring this city back

Why are they renovating Detroit. It will never be the same as it was. They have to bulldoze it, and start over.

It's really intersting about how half of it is run-down, then the other half is beautifully renovated home.
