We are a band that are heavily influenced by Jack White! if you can spare 2 seconds to listen to a band that are still trying to play real music then check us out at our channel!
Huge U2 fan too.. This song has always been my favourite from them, especially the version live from Sydney. But i love this, in my opinion, he takes all the best elements from the song, and improves them!
I love U2...LOved U2 Since their "WAR" days.LOVED this song since i first heard it on Achtung Baby...But.......Im sorry Jack White,,,I know you are a talented guy...but i really can not stand this version...On Achtung...Its a slow passionate song...Jack just does not do it justice.
@Lucifersteapot thanx for your comment.Yeah songs do grow on you sometimes but I honestly think that this guy is overrated, still I'm 47 and an old geezer.but I still believe that some kids on youtube have more talent than the likes of him,its just luck at getting media exposure.
@rockcityaudio I think it's better every time I listen to it... The first time I just thought it was another side-project that didn't turn out too well, but I've come back a few times and liked it more.
@henribanks Bono sings this song, not Edge. And, in my opinion, Jack White is one of the only singers today who can match Bono's intensity of feeling and delivery. I love this cover for its raw intensity. It pays great tribute to the original, and, to be honest, isn't that great a departure from the original.
The covers are a great way of showing that U2 will never be touched by any other artist. Yes some of the covers are ok but nothing compared to the original. Don't buy the Q Magazine buy Achtung Baby
Great version of a classic song. A song that can be served-up from various stages of a Love. The Edge's version was the being spat out of the other side of it & sitting there in a mess. His non-solo- one of my favs of all time: a right here we go....wait...you know what? F*ck it...I'm a loved-out solo.
Jack's version kinda feels like its delivered not long after the jump into the vortex of desire, madness & beauty of a love.
I'm sure there could be 2 or 3 other story-point versions of it.
@wideheadofknowledge Hendrix was Hendrix. White is White. Comparisons are lame, to me.
He's one of the most powerful and talented rockers of our times. '00s rock and roll wouldn't have sense without his influence. Capable of bringing back the old r'n'r soul, forsaken throughout the decades from the '80s on. I'll be proud, one day, to say "I lived when JW was kicking asses" and "I started playing guitar because of him".
Hard touch, deep feeling
(I'm a huge fan of his music, guess you got it lol)
@DonBigalow He's prodigiously talented, he cares about his art, he can write a fucking TUNE and his live performances are simply electrifying. I can't think of anyone who even comes close.
@7da7n37 You can order off of U2.com right now, well it's a pre-order but they are making it available on their site. I have it and the entire thing is really, really, good....

Amazing amazing cover. Beyond words for me really. Does it top the original? Hell to the fucking yeah!
Jack White is a modern legend. That skrieky guitar solo: that is how you do it! So much raw emotion flowing through this music, it's incredible.

@78monka that's true, other songs aren't so passionate or they lack that personal touch, that will transform them to something new.. sadly..

Jack White once challenged the sun to a staring contest, the sun was blind after five seconds.

Jack White understands music. It's not what you hear, it's what you feel - standing in a shower with music beating through the wall of the next room.
