0:24 Oh no, not this scene - I can't stand it, it hurts too bad to watch. You know this movie has some fantastic visuals and was very ground breaking for its time (artistically) but it also has a lot of ugliness, despair and down right terrifying scenes that isn't by any definition a movie suitable for ''children'' - very weird how it was marketed as a ''family film'', oh well I guess it was just the 80's.

Morla is so useless in this movie! In the book, she is the one who tells Atreyu that the empress needs a new name to survive and that a human child must do it. The southern oracle tells him where to find the human child! Here Morla is so much dead weight!

@mobbus265 I always wondered that too! Maybe it was because although he was sad, he knew he still had to keep going? Or maybe it was because his sadness had nothing to do with the sadness eminating from the swamp itself, but from something else entirely. I don't know, just my take on it. =)

@FangnclawXD I was worried it would be an over-the-top horse drama with intense yet seemingly ridiculous horse-jumping scenes. Is it pretty good? Maybe I should check it out. I often argue the subtle scenes like this are more effective then long lasting dramas, kind of like the "flower scene" in the Brave Little Toaster. While it may have been nice to see an entire movie of that flower and its story, nothing would top the message of the original, but I digress.

So naturally he would be scared if a giant head popped out of a large hill in the middle of a swamp. And notice Bastian's surprise at 5:05 when he looks back at the book.

When Atreyu is sliding down Morla, you can quite clearly see that its not Noah Hathaway. He was replaced with stunt and it is officialy only time in whole movie stunt was used for Noah who did all of his other stunts

@NikosSmir You only sink into the swamp if you LET the sadness take over you. Atreyu was sad but wasn't giving up on his quest. Artax got so depressed it was like, "Nothing I do will make a difference anyway...might as well give up." It's a very interesting metaphor for being suicidal when depressed, actually.
