In the years leading up to WW1 the French built a long ass wall and fortified their border with Germany in preparation for the impending invasion. The Germans simply walked around this wall by marching straight through Belgium and surronding the french forces along the border. Again I say "watch your flanks Frenchy"

But they dropped the agreement out in 1935 to stay neutral in case of conflict. The French were fucked up. Yes we had bad leaders but even worse we had little to repell the German Panzerdivisions. Rather than training our troops, creating Tank divisions like the Germans or preparing ourselves, we made an unfinished wall to avoid the war. In 1939, we were not ready for it. Even if we had Patton as Commander in Chief, I don't know if it could have succeeded.

The US forced Germany to send hundreds of thousands of men who would have been fighting on the Russian front, into France to stop US from advancing. FRANCE is awesome. I left the Corps in 1994 and with two buddies we flew to Italy and drove to France. Our objective was London. We met 3 girls in Paris who took us to Nice and Marselle. But in the legal context Germany CANNOT as a country man up a real military force or assert itself as a sovereign power internationally.
All Intelligence and military operations are run from Washington, and not to mention the whole german constitution was written to be pacific. Even the UN still considers Germany an enemy country in its legal text.
In these contexts Germany cannot be considered internationally seriously

@derbigpr500 I was reffering to the schlieffen plan you dummy. I didnt say anything about the quality of their military only the tactics. In the years leading up to WW1 the French built a long ass wall and fortified their border with Germany in preparation for the impending invasion. The Germans simply walked around this wall by marching straight through Belgium and surronding the french forces along the border. Again I say "watch your flanks Frenchy"

But they dropped the agreement out in 1935 to stay neutral in case of conflict. The French were fucked up. We had to complete the wall along the French-Belgian border now, but we were too short on time. Do you think we were so stupid?

@Nettempereur so don't you think it would have been wise to man the Belgian border with troops? Those troops that manned the wall were surrounded; they didnt bother to move. Just bad leadership. Even French troops that were not caught behind enemy lines had poor tactics in the British-French counter attack. I will say that the French fought valantly so that the allied forces could escape through Dunkurk. Not bad soldiers just bad leaders.

@Spankydaham924 Well as the Belgians dropped out the agreement, I really don't know which strategy could have been good. The front was too large. Yes we had bad leaders but even worse we had little to repell the German Panzerdivisions. Rather than training our troops, creating Tank divisions like the Germans or preparing ourselves, we made an unfinished wall to avoid the war. In 1939, we were not ready for it. Even if we had Patton as Commander in Chief, I don't know if it could have succeeded.

@Nettempereur Just as Douglas MacArthur was a great leader he was still illprepared to repell the massive japanese invasion of the philippines. Germans just got the jump on you thats all. Do not forget though that there was a mass of frenchmen that fought for the 3rd reich. I do respect France as my last name is Jourdan, but they fell too easily in my opinion.

That's sure this campaign was a disaster. But everything was not completely ashaming. Search the Battle of Stonne, the village changed hands 17 times in three days. There were many other little fightings which were tough too. But the overall battle was a disaster, true.

In Boston there is a statue to commemorate the french help during american revolution. 10 000 french soldiers landed in boston to help fight UK and theirs navy blockaded england in europe, sucessfully. And in France there is many statue to commemorate the creation of USA and it's help during ww1 and ww2.
Both countries stand for the same values and have similar culture and thinking.
Both in France and USA, there is ignorant people thought...who will hate with no reason.

@gameplaya117 I seem to recall that it was the American pilots who bombed most of Germanys factories, it was the American and British pilots who destroyed most of the German air force. The US forced Germany to send hundreds of thousands of men who would have been fighting on the Russian front, into France to stop US from advancing. The US also gave Russia millions of pounds of army supplies so that their corrupt army could continue to fight. You can thank the US for all of this.

FRANCE is awesome. I left the Corps in 1994 and with two buddies we flew to Italy and drove to France. Our objective was London. We met 3 girls in Paris who took us to Nice and Marselle. We boozed, ate and fucked our brains out with these hotties for 12 days. We decided to FUCK the UK and stay in France the rest of our trip to Europe. Was worth every minute. Everybody was so cool to us. The French guys were a bit agro sometimes, but Americans are also. France was SWEET.
