  • The other problem is that Sean is a 21st century teenager who probably doesn't know what a "surrey" actually is, in fact I think he thinks its some sort of helicopter or hot air balloon, because at 3:36 its on the ground when he puts Laurie in it, WATCH CAREFULLY, now follow his eyes, you'll see at 3:45 it takes off and hovers ....

  • Great voice, but once you've seen Sean in a few clips and his constant habit of staring out at the audience, it gets *really* irritating. Who cares if he is gay or not? I would be very happy with a gay Curly who notices occasionally that Laurie and others actually exist. With this voice, he should be able to excel in this role, not come across as self-indulgent.

  • man laurie can sing they are amazing!!!

  • I love this production. the sets are amazing, and the cast is awesome. very well done

  • haha this is really really good! i just watched the movie! All of them have great voices...and the guy who plays curly doesn't look gay...haha he's cute. How old was he when he did this?

  • im not sure who this culey is singing to... Laurie or the audience... great voice though

  • yay i got a lead part as laurey in school :D

  • this is a wonderful production ! The lead parts sing beautifuly ! well done, my schools doing this soon :D

  • Were doing this for our play seems fun

  • I like the person playing ... But he seems to be paying too much attention to the audience or looking at them way to much instead of focusing on the stage. Yes, theater is about your audience. But you also need to connect with the characters on the stage, eye contact etc.

  • my teacher was curly in 1994 and we saw a color video of it it was beautiful!

  • The youngest Curley I have ever seen other than a High School production.

  • Who plays Laurie, Curly and Aunt Eller?

  • You know, at first, I thought the guy playing Curly wasn't suited for it but now I'm convinced! c: His banter between Aunt Eller and Laurey is hilarious, he's got a good voice and not to mention he's got good looks too! c: I hope he continues his musical and acting career!

  • Excellent job by everyone involved; the actors, singers, orchestra, sets, props, choreography, video and audio. Hard to believe this was done by a high school. How lucky they are to have such a fine music program at their school. My only criticism is that the chorus could not be heard as loud as I'd want from the microphone setup, but I assume the audience there were not disappointed.

  • HE IS NOT GAY. END OF DISCUSSION.

  • to me his seem a lil too performed, like a lil acted but i have to say he has a great voice, the set looks great and from what ive seen so far looks great.

to the comments about him being gay, i dont know the chap i can tell he aint! maybe just some people are afriad to take the risk and actually perform in a musical, for them fearing its gay!!!

  • I am playing Ike Skidmore in our version of the show

  • WOW excellent singer!!! But I think he could use some more energy.

  • Awesome singer playing Curly! I hope he plans to go on with music!

  • just to clear up some of the confusion sean (Curly) is NOT gay i repeat is NOT gay i hope this clears up some of the confusion that everyone has made up

  • GOOD. Get me his number. He's HOT.

  • and what if he is gay! he is really cute and he is a very good singer!!

  • I'm thinking ... 'wow, this young man is great' ! Gret voice, stage presence, bright, .... '; then I read a bunch of comments about gay ... I'm a homophobe as good as any but .... I say, " so the hell what'! He is VERY good with a career ahead and she is every bit as good .. VERY good!

    Bravo !!!!

  • Uhmmm... Wow. Steriotype much??

I'm gay, and a performer. Just cause your gay doesn't mean you have some built in gaydar. Thats so stupid. It's not a hunch it's steriotyping and it's bad. You wouldn't like it if someone did it to you.

  • *Stereotyping

And you're right! If he's a great actor and singer, why would it matter at all?

I say some peeps are just jealous of talent.

    . _.

  • the guy has a good voice but does sound a bit camp for a curly. he needs to be more of a man. o and he does not sound american for shit

  • very good singing. This boy has a nice voice.musical and full of filings...simply beautiful...nice obertons.

  • LOVE the costumes!

    ~lAUra

  • the guys has a great boys but sounds kinda gayy

  • We used those same sets for our musical 2 years ago :]

  • when i take you in the surry with the fringe on top

  • Hey! that's my brother Toby!

  • haha love it! he sounds so american

  • Oklahoma! started out on the stage, the movie is an adaption from the stage, so of course its not going to be like the movie, it's not the original. =)

  • i think the guy who plays curly has an awesome voice.

  • jmacdrummer, you're not into yourself or anything, are ya?

  • this was really good. but curly needs to look at laurie, not the audience all the timee..

  • n also ur ment 2 talking 2 laurey?

look at her not d audience...

shes d one goin on d surrey not d audience?

  • seriously THE ACCENT!!!!!!

its anoyin! ur ment 2 b a cow boy?

  • I love this. Curly is real good. :)

  • hi i was wondering what curlys name is cuz hes so cute. x

  • this is even worse than the other one...

  • wow this guy who plays curly looks like jesse mccartney

  • I'm Laurey in our high school but my costume isn't as beatiful. Also, your Laurey is really pretty.

  • It's a pity that the play jumps between the two segments.

  • i would have sugeted looking at the girl a little more

but i guess ur drama teacher prob said to look out

    oh well

    great performance

  • curly is cute. VERY cute!!!

  • It looks to me like Curly is MUCH more of a singer than an actor. He sings it beautifully in that little boyish way of his, but the acting is questionable. Choir boy.

Yeah, he's looking out at the horizon...but is whatever's out there as amazing as the woman he's in love with? He likes this surrey more than his woman. That's not good, is it?

  • I agree with you

  • this is the musical i think im gonna be in for my theatre

  • I agree that he should be looking out and imagining the surrey, but he needs to look at Laurey and Aunt Eller since he's primarily singing to them.

  • my sis choir doing this at glen allen elemantay look out for a video around next wednesday and u might see my sis raven

  • my sis choir doing this at glen allen elemantay look out for a video around next wednesday and u might see my sis raven

  • Okay, I guess. He needs to look at the other actors more, though. I mean, the actors in movies don't stare at you through the TV screens because... it's kinda creepy. Shouldn't be aby dfferent here.

  • yup!

  • lol i hate curleys singing and looks.

  • curley is so cute. and he has a nice voice.

  • Look at the actors kid, You've demolished the fourth wall into a pulp

  • Do you have any thearical experience??? Well if you did you would know that just because they are looking our like that does not mean that they are breaking the 4th wall. They are looking out onto the prairie/horizon. I was not even in this show and I know that!

  • But you still have to look at one another! You have to begin building a connection almost instantly in theater, especially with a relationship like Laurie and Curly's. There's nothing wrong with looking out sometimes, but there's definetly something wrong with looking out constantly!

  • I have a degree in performing arts and acting :) playing curly in oklahoma this week, will see if I can post a video and see what ya think

  • There's an obvious gap between part 1 and part 2

  • Sing to Laurie!!!!!! Not to the audience!!!!!

  • They are looking onto the prairie and horizon imagining the surrey!! DUH!

  • Yeah, but it shouldn't be like that the WHOLE time. I mean, even during the dialogue and songs of every scene in this series, he is talking to the audience. It's kinda weird, for example, that Curly says things to the audience and the other actors respond.

In short, I'm just saying that he needs to focus on what would actually have happened, and pretend that the audience isn't there (not that you can't look out now an d then, though).

  • Never seen the musical performed myself but the way that he lookes out past the 4th wall gives him that dreamy boy type of character... always looking at the clouds or the cattle and day-dreaming... sterotypical cowboy. I like it personally.

And he does look at the other actors when something important is said... he just lookes out (as if he were looking at the sky or horizon) when hes imagining or thinking about something.

  • bit of a camp curlie!

  • my age isnt 21 im only 16 and i love how curly's eyes get big when he looks at the audience at the begin of the play but hes still cute u all did a great job and have some talented singers, actors and danceers hope to see more shows like this from u guys break a leg in the future plays

  • i was a cowboy (dancer) or "Sam" the banjo player

  • Can I ask you what part you were in this production?

  • thanks

  • I wish Our School had this much money, your set, costumes, lights, sound, video, etc. are amazing.

  • Amazing voices, well done! What is the student pop. of this school? It sounds like the auditorium is enormous with the echo.

  • the school is like 900 students in each grade lvl (9-12)

  • the only problem with this is that they sing to the audience instead of to each other.

  • Bartlesville did this the same year. Jenk's Laury does a good job. Our Curly was 100% better though.

  • This is excellent. You guys are so lucky - remote mic headsets, videos, all this hi-tech stuff... I'd give anything to have videos of the old musicals we did in school. (I played in the pit orchestra of this one.)

  • This is done to a very high standard, such talented students well done .

  • I am doing the play "Oklahoma!" in my school for the Jr. High And guess wat I'm in Jr. High Try outs are next week

  • EXCELLENT JOB JENKS!! Looks like you all did a wonderful job!

  • in my opinion the stage is wayyy to big for the staging in this production. so either they needed another venue or the staging needed to be much better. its not a film its a musical and i thinkt hey've tried to make it too much like the movie. the audience needs to be entertained. the girl's voice is fantastic!! brilliant.

  • yeah....laurey is a tomboy...she wouldnt be all dressed up at this point...and curly! look at laurey! gees....haha great voice tho

  • wowo amazin 4 a school production...but curly shud look at laurey more..i tink his girlfriend was in d audience haha...oh and laurey shoud b in work clothes and this part of the musical.

  • Curly, Laurey & Aunt Eller are good. Looks like a good production. But what's up with Curly looking permanently at the audience? He's suppost to be in love with Laurey but he harly looks at her. Shame.

  • Shame? It makes sense in the context. At the beginning of the show, yes they still really like each other, but they are too arrogant to act upon it. It's Curly's cockiness in this scene that sets the whole show up. Otherwise Laurey would have gone with Curly instead of Jud and you have no show.

  • which we are still waiting on king of the mountain to show haha but im still waiting

  • one of my fav musicals, we never get stuff like this in England

  • What do you mean by,"stuff like this"? Musicals? School plays?

I grew up Oklahoma (went to Jenks Public Schools, too) and kids in the state start learning the song "Oklahoma" at a young age.

I was in London in 1983, and a boy I met asked me where I was from. I told him and he immediately broke out into song singing...you guessed it..."OKLAHOMA"!

  • well, what i mean is that schools don't put on these kind of plays, you get the odd shoddy christmas performance - but nothing like this. I guess its coz American schools are a hell of a lot bigger, and they probably have better funding too.

  • Well, Jenks is very large with more than one campus. In 1985, my graduating class had over 800 students.

It also has more funding than average, so this video probably doesn't represent the average school play in the US. Jenks is a small town just across the Arkansas river and south of Tulsa. It is an affluent area. The school's arch rival is Union, which is also well funded. Check out "King of the Mountain video trailer"

  • Oklahoma is an American musical. American musicals are different. Oklahoma was one of the first american musicals. My high school did Oklahoma, but my school only has 400 students. We had to build a fund on our own, our school gives us very little funding.

  • Yes, it does make you think why do we not have shows like this within schools in England? UK Manchester
