wait why was chiba sensei doing a kirikaeshi with more than 9 strikes and finishing it with a migi men?don't get me wrong,i'm not in position to question him, just have 1 dan,am just 15 and am only doing kendo for about 2 years and a half but as far as i know it's 9 strikes,4 forward,5 backwards ending on hidari men and beginning on hidari men.And i'm sure what i said is correct,i am under training by Sensei Ishikubo(6 dan). Please someone clear me up on this,I'm confused
@TygryZZ No,you start with hidari sayu men, because it's not taken by where you hit(start with right) but where the opponent is hit(you start with hidari/on his left side).I doubt my 6 dan sensei would know wrong :).
@RaiceaAndrei111 if u not doubt dont ask xD yes ure right, i said is where i start attack my bad. But when u say it this way - yes u hit in his hidari.
the problem with doing kirikaeshi fast and ive have found out this to be a problem to a lot of people, the sayu men strikes starts to look like a helicopter, im not sure if that is correct seeing a lot of high grade ppl doing kirikaeshi fast but my sempai and a few sensei's tell me not to do it like that
@MrRwlrwlrwlrwl There are things that one is supposed to do according to his level and grade. For beginners alike, doing fast can make one's shoulders tense up and also affects the posture. It is also difficult to make sharp cuts this way. However, for advanced players, they should be able to achieve all the above even while doing it fast. As a rule of thumb, listen to your sensei who knows your kendo the best.
