Hi, Yes the diver gives a false impression of it being huge. It is about 12" or 30cm. Unfortunatley the video does not show much of the amazing colours that refract from it. They are just great to watch.
The "Comb Jelly" is infact not a Jellyfish at all. They belong to the phylum Ctenophora, unlike jellyfish which belong to Cnidaria. Only one species of Ctenophora have stinging cells. They move by beating plates of cilia on their side. The movement of these cilia reflects light at differnet wave lenths causing the rainbow effect along their sides.
But the cells differ considerably from your typical Cnidocyte.
In the ctenophores there includes one Sessile species which also has specialized prey capture cells, however they operate more like a noose then a barb.
i think....i want to capture one....and eat it :D
