I really wanted to like it, but that just made the frustrations stand out more, I couldn't struggle through to the end. And overall it left a sour taste in my mouth. I wouldn't reccommend this game.
Cons: Combat system. Poor optimization (doesn't support quad core processors).
Pros: Excellent atmosphere and sound fx. Unpredictable and intelligent storyline that will keep you on edge. Original moments that have never been seen before in any game.
It's the first game in awhile that as soon as I played it I couldn't put it down. It's like a good book. Finished it in under 24 hours. Not many games have been able to do that as of late.
man it was boring and there was no main story man it sux dont get me wrong the game gameplay sucks the story sucks i whent in with high hopes after seeing this review and by the time it was over i felt ripped off, it wasnt scary or tense aim sucks, the puzzle parts are cool but there are too few and only last like 1 min each no lie, the game is buggy i felt this game should have run smoother and well let me tell you this i like games for their story like silent hill but this sucks all around
Please do NOT make a review if your PC cannot handle the game well. You simply cannot give 100% real review this way. Anyway this game worth it when you have a great PC for it.
really nice graphics im a fan of point n click adventre games and fps games i think ill pick this up i hope theres more to it than flicking switches tho
What i did not understand was the role of the "prisoners". What were they used for? Did captain knew about them, and if so was he trying to "save" them or the crew from them?
I think it was just an uprising against the captain within the ship's crew/passangers, which led to the drastic decision of putting them in the prison cells. Even still, how many ships have prison cells.
Not sure if that is what you are referring to but that's my thoughts on it.
Sorry but I have forgotten. All the songs are off that one album, Systems/Layers. I also use another song from it on my Empyrean student film on my account (in my "other" playlist).
after listening to the song by it self a couple of time i have came to a realization of something. its not the song that gives it its mood but your amazing editing skills and the sceens you choose. great job.
I have an ATI Radeon 4770 on all overclocked do you think I could even run this game. On a quad core.(which i heard does not matter)and a great review I love the explanation of the games mechanics
Sorry but I'm not too knowledgeable about that sort of thing. I was running this on a 2007 era Mac Book Pro. I forgot what graphics card they have in those, but that's all I can really offer to help. Thanks for the comment.
Really good review, I'm definately getting this game now. Also, can you tell me the name of the piece of music used at the beginning and end of the video?
Thanks. I'll be including tracklists in the future, but all the songs in this video are taken from Rachel's (the 's is in the band's actual name) album called Systems/Layers. There are like 3 or 4 tracks I play, not sure which one is which but they are all off that album.
Great review. Love the use of Piano, it goes really well with the game. I said pretty much the same thing in my review of Cryostasis, so I can't really leave any more feedback...
Cryostasis is one of (if not #1) my favorite games ever. It sounds beautiful (that last song was SO great), it looked fantastic for me, the gameaply was a big meh, but never so bad to make me give up.
The story was just so amazing. Remember when Roger Ebert said games could not be art? He should play Crostasis.
I ran it on 8800 GTS 512 overclocked, intel quad core 9550, 4 gigs of ram on Windows 7 x64, but the game still lagged. Damn, I can play crysis warhead on enthusiast, but PC struggles with this Cryostasis. Anyway, it's a pretty cool game. And it's a nice rewiev.
Like I say in the review, the game doesn't take advantage of multicore CPUs which is the problem you are running into. They are supposed to be working on a patch, but too little too late I think. Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks. I ran it on a GeForce 8600M GT. It ran to the point where its playable. Keep in mind that I recorded the footage with fraps the entire time which cut my fps in half, so what you see above isn't exactly what you'll get. My knowledge of graphics cards is minimal at best but I hope that helps.
I have a card that is equal to the GTX 280 in performance benchmarks (overclocked 260 216) and I can not even max the game. I'd be careful with your system.
Note that this game is extremely effected my CPU overclocking.
I really wanted to like it, but that just made the frustrations stand out more, I couldn't struggle through to the end. And overall it left a sour taste in my mouth. I wouldn't reccommend this game.

The game is basically unplayable on my PC, even with all the settings at low.
The new patches, they don't improve this in any way, does it?

@Chronolyse Does that bit about quad core processors mean there is no way to play it on one?

@TheCheesy4
It works on quad cores but it isn't optimized for them. You can still play it.
