When I say he hangs on the V towards the end, I say that because the actual pitch he's on is the III of the V (VII of the key), of course. Sorry, just wanted to clarify:)
Fascinating and good work! Try to balance a little more toward the original audio if possible next time, as the shamisen can easily swamp it. But at all times you could compare them it was accurate. Oddly enough he's in between F# and G Major, and you can analyze the spoken pitches as pretty diatonic, with chromatic decorations above/below the 5th scale degree. Incidentally I've also done this before, but in MIDI, to a segment of dialogue in the TV show "Seinfeld". lol :p
Thanks very much for the thoughtful comment. I agree, the audio balance isn't really good enough to effectively demonstrate the point. There's a strange correlation between the syntactic tension-resolution of the points he makes and the actual musical tension-resolution of his vocal pitches. Towards the end, he hangs around the V for a good while before finally resolving to the tonic just as he finishes making his point: "...is simply to say that music is finished." Anyway, thanks for watching!
