I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!! as for you question his charater dies in a gun battle with the germans(suprise suprise). he gets shot in the stomach and the spine and bleeds out in the middle of a field. they kill all but 1 of the germans in the gun battle, they all want to kill the remaning guy but in the end they dont.
