  • world war in couple of words: canada did the job and americunts got the honnor, nuff said

  • @R3dTigerM40A3

I'm no fan of American politics, or all the flag waving nonsense. But I have to say, they did their part, especially in the South Pacific. That was a brutal fight, and they took the bull by the balls.

  • Respond to this video... Oh, and it's HONOUR in Canada.

  • I would not be scared to follow that commander anywhere in battle. Cuidich n'righ. Maple Leaf Forever.

  • Does the heart good when the Canucks honour the bairn with an 'eyes right'! :O)

  • Dont even mind the dick saying Canadian soldiers arent great, I'm from Belgium and we know what they have done here ! Brave men , Honorable soldiers and we wont forget ! The Brits, Canadians , New zealand.. We know, we remember..

  • @10ssomeone Our brothers in the north are awesome. Small orbig Army, it don't matter. They are awesome, like the US.

  • Canadians are a quiet unoptrusive people in the world theater but with hearts of gold and with guts and great bravery

  • @markee91 /Salute

  • 3rd worst we took North Africa/ Italy and are still considered liberators by the dutch today. Did not find any videos of school children paying respect to the Americans marching by, why because they showed up late, only when it was about them.

  • you stupid jerk!!! how dare you say the Canadians were anything but among the best. Through out the liberation of Europe the Germans troops the Americans were fighting generally were not the best German troops. The Canadians and Brits fought the top German troops , the 12 SS Panzer Hitler youth, 21 SS Panzer reg, and the Panzer Lehr. Don't read the biased Yankee propoganda books, like the Longest Day, read Overlord by Max Hastings to get a true unbiased account of the fighting in France.

  • A Boy who have learned what Canadian Soldiers did for Belgium during WWII... And Soldiers who returns His Honour....

Absolute a very good video :-))

  • @88pie88

At least Canada fought the war(s) from beginning to end unlike the Americans.

Our troops are not "pussies" they actually fight when a war comes around.

  • Class Kid! I'd be very proud of him if he were my son.

  • Cis20081 @88pie88 Who cares! In my country they did a great job! We Dutchmen know that the Canadians are our liberators!

Forever grateful to the brave Canadian men who liberated my counrty!

    Love from The Netherland

  • @88pie88

3rd worst with regards to what?

Have you ever read a book?

Ask the Dutch about the Canadians in WW2.

  • @88pie88

    Market Garden:

How many countries are the annual recipient of MILLIONS of donated tulips from the Dutch Government?......... Only One. CANADA.

    Poland:

It was the attack that started the war in Europe. The Canadian's war involvement itself is the proof of support.

    Tanks:

We never had many tanks to begin with, NO WAY could we have had more knocked out than the US and UK combined. If we did, it's because the Americans were too timid to join until they were attacked ALMOST 3 YEARS LATER.

  • @88pie88 Canada was never the 'worst' in WWII. If anything we were one of the best. We were also one of the most respected by the Axis powers. How is it that Canada was one half of the first ever SSF? Or the fact that we penetrated the furthest on D-Day? Had the third largest Navy? And we could not have lost more tanks then the UK & US combined. Those numbers alone can not match. You're saying we had more tanks then all of the Allies combined! What?

  • @BlackBurgerShot2 canada when the war started had the 2nd most tanks in the allied powers (not including russia) america only had a handful of tanks and thouse tanks were m2 light tanks. when the war started the british gave huge quantities to the canadians. in 1943-1945 the canadian tanks were being wiped out. 7% of all canadian tanks were knocked ou. thats why by the end of the war they have less than the american and british. 88 crew knocked out 23 canadian tanks in 10 min in normandy.

  • @88pie88 So you base this off of tanks lost in a war? You do know that war is fought with lives and the equipment lost is nothing compared to the men and woman right? And in that battle, do you understand tactics and the fact that one army may have had the higher ground in regards to previous knowledge of the area? You base our Military off of one area rather then look at the facts. What else made Canada 'weak' as you say?

  • @88pie88 How exactly did the Canadian military "fail" to support the Americans during Market Garden?

  • @cf80to01 this is my final answer to you pathetic animals. amercans were sent behind enemy lines. the british/canadian job was to move from Belgium (i think) go threw hells highway and get to the americans. the canadians was the back bone of the armored infantry. look at pictures. there are dead armored viecleas EVERYWERE. and over 8,000 american paratroopers weren't able to see there childer, mothers, and wifes for Christmas that year. you Canadians are pussys, cant take any criticism. fuck you

  • @88pie88 Read a history book that was NOT WRITTEN IN THE USA! The Canadian Army was DENIED supplies needed to clear Antwerp, so the Market Garden operation could take place....... you pathetic animal, who does not read history. The Canadian military was dedicated almost entirely to the clearing of the Scheldt estuary. Read a history book you tool.

  • @88pie88 No response yet? Typical troll.... all mouth, no knowledge.

  • @88pie88 This is probably one of the most ignorant things I have ever read on YouTube. Canadians were there at Normandy, were there in Italy, were there in the Netherlands, had the third largest navy in the world at the end of the Second World War and had 10 percent of their population in active service.

You need to read a book - learn something - or keep your ignorant remarks to yourself as you're an embarrassment to your parents, family and friends.

  • @88pie88

Austria I think, birthplace of Hitler, Colombia I think Cocaine.

  • @kamikazeehighlander i lived in colombia for 5 years and i havent seen a grain of cocaine. Why do you give a fuck were hitler was born, go there you dont see any nazis. plus in a way i am glad he was born there. One man who almost took control of all of europe with only 20,000,000 soldiers. you have to admire that, even tho the monstrosities he is responsible for.

  • @88pie88

you have absolutely no idea what your talking about !!!

anyways it doesnt matter cause you lost.

    Hitler and Cocaine.....

  • @88pie88 It is VERY difficult to quantify military capability at any time, particularly during a war. The Canadians did not perform as well in WW2 as they had in WW1, for a number of reasons, HOWEVER they were hardly the third worst. They performed well again in Korea for the same reasons the had performed well in WW1. As for A'stan, they aren't #1, but they are certainly tied with the Brits, Americans and Aussies for that spot.

  • im not hating on canadians, im just saying they did poorly in ww2. they are great soldiers in just about any war. but in ww2, they lacked, just about every thing, lacked firepower, lacked air support, lacked decent commanders. every battle the canadians were on during ww2, was usually the same results, failed to take out enemy defensives, heavy casualties. 2 weeks behind schedule , and failed to support the polish/brits/americans/french.

  • @88pie88 The Canadians in WW2 were outfitted the same as the Brits and had better armour (initially) than the Americans. Firepower is one area that the Allies (canada included) excelled. Germans caught throughout the Normandy campaign commented on the fast, accurate and devastating fire brought to bear. Some Germans even thought the 25pounder was automatic. The Canadians lacked where the rest of the Allies lacked..... experience.

  • @88pie88 canadians soldiers "did poorly in ww2"? Are u fuckin retarded? Canada has always kicked ass. Canadians defended the american attack and burnt the white house in 1812. In WW1 nobody could take vimy ridge, then the canadianscame along and fuckin dominated the shit out of it, and in the 2nd battle of Ypres canada held the line during the first german gas attack while the british and french retreated. In WW2 canada fought on the 2nd toughest beachhead (juno) and penetrated the furthest into

  • @SharpSho0ter99 the axis lines, and the paratroopers kicked ass too. And the Canadians beat the shit out of italy and were going to liberate rome but then the americans said not too, and then they just came and did it and took the credit. In Korea canada kickd ass in the Battle of Kapyong. In the vietnam war, 30 000 canadians hopped the border to go kick some commy ass. Canada also fought and did peacekeeping/making in Kashmir, Cyprus, Sinai, Golan Heights, Bosnia, Somalia, and the canadian air

  • force beat the crap out of iraq in the gulf war. And canada has been kickin the shit out of the taliban since 2001 in afghanistan, and a canadian sniper (rob furlong) who fought in afghanistan had the record for the longest sniper kill ever recorded (2430 metres) until 2009 when a british sniper (craig harrison) broke his record by 45 metres. canadians have never "did poorly". And if u think differently, go tell that to a canadian vet and see if he doesnt put a .306 through your dome

  • @88pie88 Canada did bad but not as bad as you say. The British were short on numbers and absorbed like 400 senior Canadian officers into their ranks at the start of WW2. Also for a lot of major battles like dday, Canada had sent the 3rd unit which was made of untrained people who just wanted to go over and help because of a shortage number. Plus we had no Generals with experience in WW2...No matter how good your army is it means nothing without leadership and experience.

  • @88pie88 Read history. Start with the Italian campaign. Think more and speak less.

  • Everytime I see this, it makes me proud to be Canadian.

  • her i meant her as in ellen

  • he should on the ellen degeneres show..somebody should contact him

  • SOOOO CUTE!!!!

  • Ha ha very cute

  • This rules.

  • kudos for the NCO giving the eyes right command.... also i was laughing a bit cause he cant even salute properly XD... well he did when the honour gaurd came at least.

  • That thumbs up is worth a million bucks! One of the best things I have seen on youtube. It is like he is saying..."yeah Dad! I've got this....."

  • That's a great vid. Good on the little guy for saluting the honour gaurd. Also good on the marching NCO for giving the "eyes right " order as they passed the little fellow.

  • Nice to know Canada are very proud of their Scottish roots.

  • A great video.... especially where he gives the thumbs up to whoever is telling him what to do. This little guy knows what to do but has to put up with some guy giving him direction from the background. 8 years old and he knows what it is like to be a soldier.

  • this video is good, but too bad my great grand father died in 1994, but he was in the queens own rifles of canada, as a sniper, but thats canadian highlander not his regiment or platoon, and i never met him, and he was a teen in ww2, even on d-day, but he was a sargeant.

  • I'm British and I'd never say anything bad for the Canadian Forces. I was serving in Kanadahar last year with them and they were spot on! Brits in Helmand and Canadians in Kanadahar, the two toughest provinces in Afghanistan, considering both countries limited Defence budgets and troop supply (by comparison to the US) we are kicking ass!

  • nice too hear, im Canadian, and i would say nothing bad about ur Armed Foreced or country, if you kno alot about the army or are in it u have to admit that it looks like the RSM, CSM, or DSM put them into easy march, im onliy 12 but i am in cadets.

  • Thank you... eight year old MAN .

for being proud to display your gonads.

  • Makes Me A Proud Person he does

  • God bless Canada and God bless our soldiers in Afghanistan

  • Makes me proud to be Canadian

  • Outstanding. Esse Quam Videri!

    Thank you for sharing/posting this.

  • I'm in the Canadian Army, and I can say that this was before the budget cuts. Our army is half the size now.

  • so its like the swedish army?

  • what are you talking about ?

  • thats kind of sad...they have been great partners in Afghanistan, and have paid with their blood. Not to mention were a part of the Normandy Invasion during World War Two

  • Good to hear, Canadians have never forgotten the American contributions either.

  • pl1ght: don't be such a smart ass. With that attitude you'd never make it in the military. Canadians should be proud of their military and their National Anthem. As an American I enjoy viewing signs of patriotism such as this video shows. Whatever the country.

  • way to be 2 months late. Seriously, i fully and amazed by this show of patriotism as i stated. But, there cant be anything said about canadian military without having to respond with some sarcasm about them having a military. Take a chill pill pal.

  • This boy is Belgian, so he was showing his respect for the Canadian sacrifice, not patriotism.

"Jokes" regarding Canada's military strength only show a lack knowledge and a lack of respect for Canada's contributions past and present.

    But thats ok.

  • Hit the nail on the head there lad, well said.

  • yeah, my great grand fater isnt famous but he was in normandy, queens own rifles of canada my friend, sgt, i can learn all that from his son

  • Well, all i can say to that is your a fool who has no education on how the world works outside your borders. yes canadians prefer to use guns as a last resort to solving our problems, but if you look up any war that canada has taken part in (including fighting currently beside USA in Afghanistan). You would see that they fought well and in many cases such as D-Day,Vimmy ridge, and the fallaise gap just to name a few, were feared by the enemies, ever hear of the "Devil's Brigade"? course not....

  • @pl1ght Yeah, typical US ignorance. I bet you think Canada is a US state... or you think we have snow all year long...

  • @QAFtuvok101 way to reply to a 2 year old comment. Who is the retard now?

  • @pl1ght Yes, I read old comments. Sometimes I find something interesting. Not this time, though.

  • respect deserves respect

  • Oh my...I was taken with emotion, and I'm a 40 year old man..ex black watch ex RMR reservist

amazing video...very proud to be Canadian

  • This is indeed a poignant and very touching clip, made during the Hoofdplaat-Knokke Memorial March in 2007.

The boy's name is Randal and he's not Belgian but Dutch: he's the youngest son of one of the members of the "Dutch Memorial Pipes and Drums-The Canadian Scottish" from Hulst (NL)...

  • In Holland the graves of Canadian Troops are taken care of by school kids in honor of being liberated.

A lone young Belgian boy waits to salute Canadian Troops who were attending a memorial service... The "Eyes right" command is the highest complement Troops on parade can pay and is reserved for dignitaries at reviewing stands. How's this for class? Watch what they do for this little boy. Every now and then something just makes you smile.

  • if it wasn't for canada they would have never been liberated. that child understands that. i wish i could do that march through Holland!

  • That kid was probably bursting with pride after that! This is exactly why I am proud to be Canadian!

  • its nice to know the dutch still remember and thank us for libarating most of there country in ww2 ty dutch people

  • I got to say that makes me proud as im a Seaforth Highlander of Canada

  • I love that. good on the parade commander for doing that.

  • ahahahahahaha! a real patriot

  • Thats cute actually. Its nice to see the CO adknowledged the guy. Looks like hes about 4 or 5 probably killed him to stand still that long.

  • by the way im canadian.

  • what this vidieo shows, cant be said in words. who cares about the uniform, its a hole lot of respect, for the people in front of him and the flag. best show or repect ive ever seen.

  • where do he get the uineforem

  • The story I got out of it was that his Grandmother was liberated by the Canadian back in the final months of the war, and she was a fan of the Seaforths. Don't know how much truth there is to all of it, but I bet there's some.

  • how do he get the uinforme

  • look up for the website of

    The Seaforth Highlanders of Holland

    memorial pipes and drums

    ( google search engine )

  • Did u make this Clip?

  • No, somebody emailed it to me, and I thought it was worth putting it up for the boys.

  • Many thanks. Priceless!! There is indeed hope for our young people today.
