@sactown900 No rejet is needed for just a slip on. The bike comes stock with a four into one pipe. If you do any thing else ,such as a air box mod, you will need to rejet.
I have a 2001. I purchased new in 01 , now have 21000 miles on it . Just put so new 530 did o-ring chain and 41 tooth sprocket. My my what a difference, not so much the sprocket but the chain ! I'll have to post it soon , maybe this weekend. I had it dyno tuned and it's putting out 132.35 hp to the rear wheel . Muzzy 4 into1 and a factory aftermarket carburetor kit . That was definitely a night and day difference. Oh I have a 06 passion red zx1400, dyno at 172 + hp . That's a trip in itself !
@be4realyo The 2001 models came in green, black, and red. Not sure about the blue though. I tried to find a black one but they were all sold out within a 4 state radius.
how many miles do you have on this bike now? the riding position seems to be quite neutral-comfortable for long distance riding .... do you do out-of-state touring with this? it must be smooth on the highways.
@torontothegood It has around 17000 on it now and I am mainly a day trip pleasure rider so I don't tour on it. Almost all of my riding is on secondary country roads with as many curves as possible. The seating position is fairly upright and I added 1 inch bar risers to bring it up further. The suspension is smooth without being harsh...I've set mine up for aggressive back road scratching and it remains comfortable for me for an hour or so at a time.
Just had a question about the windshield. Where did you find it? Does it help with the aerodynamics? I get the helmet shoves at about 70 mph. Then I need to crouch.
@davbrok That windshield was made by Laminar Lip and it attaches onto the factory screen with screws they provide. It does create a larger bubble and directs airflow higher, but I noticed more air noise. I'm 6 ft tall and it was a noticeable improvement. It's a little odd looking but I like the looks better than the tall screens for this bike. The cost was 70.00 dollars U.S.
Nice, I have a green 2001 zrx1200r myself, I went with the Two Brothers pipe, K&N pod filters, and the Holeshot stage two jet kit, I bought it two years ago with 3,000 miles on it for $3,500, money very well spent.
@sinisterzombie I'm still very happy with mine after 8 years of ownership. No failures or breakdowns of any kind and it still has the origional battery. Just put a fresh set of Bridgestone BT-016's and I really dig these tires.
I would look for clearance issues with the wiring harness that lies ontop of the headlight bucket and also check that someone didn't over tighten the bolts holding the bucket in place. The fairing opening should not be in contact with the headlight either.
Hey is it a slip on Yoshi or full exhaust? Also. if it is just a slip on , did they have to rejet? Nice!!! I just bought a used one and going to get pipe, probably just a slip on for now.
nice bike. how comfortable is it to ride for for an hour or two straight? and how does it handle with a passenger? does it have a comfortable riding position or is it cramped like a rocket?
This bike is very comfortable . I'm 6 ft tall so I guess I'm average sized. I have added 1 inch bar risers to take some weight of of my wrists which was very effective. My main complaint is the pegs are a little too high. My wife has been out with me for full days of riding and didn't complain any. It is a good two up day ride bike. This machine can do just about anything you want with a few modifications.
Yeah buddy!! I have a '02 ZRX and I agree it's one of the sickest rides out there. I have the Laminar wind screen too. I don't have the Yoshi pipe but man does it look and sound good.
Sweet Bike... I honestly didnt know this model existed until I visted the kawasaki shop here in Dubai last week. I originally thought it was an old 70's kawi, restored to original, until I looked closer. Really Awesome Bike. Congrats.
man, this is my fave bike. I like lots, but this is absolutely amazing. I donno why I like it so much probably it's the best design. classic but true beast
Thanks for posting. I am looking at a 2005 Green ZRX1200. Did you have to rejet the carbs for the new Yosh cannister and pipe?

Do you mean for the high and low beams?
yellowbusguy 2 years ago
No the bolts are tite on the pot n adjust screws are useless. It feels like the problem is at the pot bolts.
Could it be rubber grommits?
Other than not being able to ride @ nite, it's the Best Human Being I've ever known.

Thanks. I had a few questions about that.
Do you know anything about the headlite losing the ability to adjust ?
Thanks again
probot65 2 years ago
The pipe is a slip on. No jetting is needed so long as you leave the airbow alone. Don't open it up or install a K&N and it should run fine.
yellowbusguy 2 years ago
@yellowbusguy Thanks. I may replace my 4/1 pipe when I by the 05 I am looking at.
