Neither are rushing into anything, but Rin isn't going to let him get very far away. Once he fell he didn't stand a chance cause he fell hard. Sesshomaru is by far my most favored character in the series.

I freaking adore Rin. She is the cutest thing ever to be written. Her laugh and loving spirit is just what Sesshoumaru need. This is such a cute scene. The question just caught him off guard and he was kind of shocked to hear it. He doesn't want to think about the day that Rin's no longer in his life. For me, I don't see Sesshomaru and Rin's relation as "father-daughter" thing. I see that Rin is a very valuable person that Sesshomaru deeply cares, protects and shows emotions. Just because of the age difference it doesn't mean it’s a "father-daughter" relationship. Sesshomaru is like Rin's guardian and she feels safe around him :)I bet when Rin is mature enough she will go again with Sesshomaru-sama and perhaps their love will blossom ;)
I think Sesshomaru and Rin have more of a brother-sister relationship. He was visibly upset when she died (for the second time, that is) and he won't let anything happen to her. You could tell that he was angry with Sango when she almost killed Rin with Hiraikotsu and, of course, he went to save Rin from Naraku, even though he said that he didn't care what happened to her. Sesshomaru really is a kind person at heart.

I really like to think that their relationship is close father/ daughter and stays that way. For it to become romantic later on would just ruin the entire significance and impact for me. It's like saying there's only romantic love in the world and no other kind of love is worth anything, which isn't true. In fact, the love between a parent and a child is much deeper than that between husband and wife, in my opinion. Them becoming romantic would ruin the beauty of their relationship for me.

Rin reminds me of a snippet from Iliad, the part where Hector's wife said to him: my family is dead, you are now my father, my brother, my mother (!) and my husband. There is no need to put a label on their relationship, and as Rin grows the relationship will change. But to say that it is one thing and one thing only, I'm not ready to do so.

@MoxeyFem But I think you have to take into consideration his culture and how cold his parents were. Do you think they fussed over him? Once he was able I have a feeling Sesshomaru was left to do things on his own and become independant. The Japanese (Esspecially in the older culture) don't show emotion and esspecially not out of their own species. I think he's as fatherly as he can be to Rin.

Well, if Rin was a demon, the relationship would lose its impact. I mean, it's not so much that Sesshoumaru loves someone, but the fact that it's a being from the species or creatures he claims to hate. I think it was an open ending of the author, because I leave everything ready to take any road: love or not love. (relationship)

When InuYasha was born, Sesshomaru looked exactly the same, so really he doesn't age, so I support their pairing :)
(In one of the movies, look at the scene when InuYasha was born, Sesshomaru looks the same)

Anyone who has paid close attention tot he entire series knows that Sesshoumaru treats Rin more like a pet than anything. He just kind lets her run around. She has to find her own food and everything.

I think father is a little too strong of a word for how he treats her. After all, there is no fatherly emotion or guidence that he gives her. I think we can agree that at most, Sesshoumaru is her protector. He doesn't feed or play with her, he just keeps her from harm, simple as that.

@MoxeyFem actually in episode nine of the final act she died and he went to the underworld to retrieve her. When he found out that he lost her he was upset he couldn't save her . He was extremly relieved and happy when his mother brought her back.

When he realized he couldnt save her he got extremly upset and drops his sword and clutches her to him almost crying he says " Tensuiga I let you die for this thing. Nothing could ever be worth the cost of rins life." When she was brought back he was happy that she was alright. Also on the very last episode when rin is with kaede it shows him bringing her gifts and visiting her. I

@MoxeyFem But I think you have to take into consideration his culture and how cold his parents were. Do you think they fussed over him? Once he was able I have a feeling Sesshomaru was left to do things on his own and become independant. The Japanese (Esspecially in the older culture) don't show emotion and esspecially not out of their own species. I think he's as fatherly as he can be to Rin.

For someone who as filled the role of a surrogate parent it must be jarring (as shown by Sessh's brief unguarded expression) to know that you would out live your child.

Well, if Rin was a demon, the relationship would lose its impact. I mean, it's not so much that Sesshoumaru loves someone, but the fact that it's a being from the species or creatures he claims to hate. I mean, he talks about how humans are beneathe him, and worthless, but the first person he ever genuinely loved was a little human girl. So, the relationship has a stronger impact

if he's to be the bishounen we all know and love, that deep voice just doesnt suit him. but i guess if their trying to portray that fact that he is, after all, a few hundred years old, then i SUPPOSE that they might want to do that...
