  • USA has no choice- in order to get the oil out of the "Stans" it has to have a secure Afghanstan .

  • aljazeera is propaganda. but that doesnt mean this interview is.

  • This hypocrite has the nerve to attack Fox, yet he's defending a television network funded by terrorists and the DNC.

  • Afghanistan is no damn Vietnam.

  • @baigandine the only difference is there is no south or north

  • @schapman235 Far fewer casualties, a cooperative government, not many enemy.

  • true.

al jazeera English is owen by zionist now. all the reporter r pro-zionist to there aganda.

all the former reporter r fired.

but u know ppl now days can´t think for them self.

aljazeera is stil putting some unbaised news out there.. but thats about all other stuff and not the importent stuff they used to in the start.

FUCK AL JAAZERA. and the dogs the arab dogs the sold arab dogs.

  • @Tobias8164

    can you explain

  • @Imthemaster22

Well said. Fox News is PROPOGANDA

I havent seen enough of Al Jazeera's pieces but Im sure there no different than most media outlets. BESIDES Fox News. Which is lunacy

  • Robert has recently caught my attention in a huge way. The man leaves something to be admired where ever he goes.

Rethink Afghanistan is one of the most powerful documentaries of our time. I try to show it to people whenever I can, online and offline. Many of my progressive friends have been totally floored by the film. Other people, like my father, can't grasp the serious implications and find a way to superficially criticize every aspect in order to avoid facing the truth.

  • The conflict in Afganistan is not a war. Congress has not passed a war resolution. The conflict in Afganistan is a occupation. This not a "we the people..." war. The conflict in Afganistan is a "I,the president,as the commander in chief of the armed forces" occupation. Unless someone shows different I haven't read that the Afganistan occupation is being paid for from the pentagon budget. I suspect it is being paid for with supplemental requests to Congress Change the enabler,Congress

    P&P

  • not real news, just muslim slaves paid by oil.

  • What is our goal there anyway? Not even Obama can define that (publicly, at least). How can bombs and guns solve the despondency of the Afghans? How does bombing their houses solve anything?

I'll tell you, I was happy when Obama was elected but now I feel like a fool. He's giving up the Public Option, he's slaughtering more people on the other side of the world, he's doing everything he can to lose my support. This is just terrible. I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOO disappointed.

WTF Obama?! Are you a liar?

  • good interview

  • What the heck ARE we doing over in the Middle East anyway? I know; we are spending money that we don't have (can you say 11 TRILLION dollar deficit and growing) and expending lives of U.S. troops in the process. Oh yes, what do we have to show for it all? We need protection right here at home and I'm not talking about Guardisil shots and flu shot vaccines either!

  • Hear, hear! Alas the ROI is based on a potential monopoly on the remains oil reserves on earth

  • The U.S. needs to lose afganistan simply because it may finally make them rethink imperialism and massive defense spending.

    Well maybe not,

they've gotten their ass handed to them by the vietcong in vietnam and the Chinese army in Korea

  • When all the people that enjoy our presents have only problems, than we should think of moving out. Instead of sending the army, they should be sending the retired professionals and workers to give them a much better vision of our level of awareness. Of our willingness to give them the tools to modernize their country and of our openness of understanding their cultures, right now, as you are reading this, another Afghan hates us, for life, for his brother, for his family probably for his land...

  • Rethink?? Rethink what?? let al quaeda and talibans regrupe huh? STUPID!

  • yea screw the NATO charter, that we wrote, and the Constitution. Let's kill people.

  • OR GET KILL!

  • Because of our actions in other nations the power of those groups have increased not decrease. The longer our troops are over there the more hate is redirected to this nation. By staying over there we are increasing the risk to this nation not keeping it safe. Even a fool can see that.

  • That all what you said goes for Irak and helping Israel, so even if you quit those 2 wars you'll never stop helping israel destroy Palestina, so you'll be hate and in Afghanistan Al-qaeda and Talibans will regrup and hate is redirected any way to USA. But you know what i guess Obama maybe ´worst than a fool because he sees it just like I do. He cant leave Afghanistan Right now, Period!

  • Obama isnt a fool hes a puppet. And the ones holding his strings are the same ones that pulled Bush's strings for 8 years.

  • Why do you say that? Do you have any indication? (I'm actually honest! If you have any, I'll be curious to learn them). From my perspective, he's just resisting to those that want him to pull out, leaving the European allies alone in a US started war! It's called diplomacy and an end to US' unilateralism that has characterized it in the last years

  • Just look at Obamas actions from the moment he took office. That alone will show his true intentions. What he said and what he does are different.

  • Ok. He said he would work on a recovery package, he pushed the stimulus plan. He said he would work on healthcare reform to include all americans into some form of fair coverage, he is trying to push it through. What are the things he changed on? Please, be precise!

  • This happened in germany. First the finacial system was handed over to companies instead of the goverment. Next energy was moved from small companies to the goverment. Next comunication then health care. And when every thing is owned by a select few who owns who in this country. Stimulus is nothing more than the bailout plan bush had done. And as for the health care plan its another way to get the power all localized to a select few.

  • Forgive me, but your point makes no sense. The power to select few that you condemn has been pushed by company-ran economies and free markets. Yet again, you have failed to give me a precise failure of Obama. I cannot judge your point as credible until you answer my question which you have ignored twice in a row.

  • Damn straight. Next time I vote Socialist. These Dems and Repubs are just 2 different faces of the same sick animal.

  • Thank you Robert Greenwald for once again speaking sense. I think Obama will withdraw. It may take a while. I hope so at least.

  • It's always good to see people discuss very very messy issues in way that help us understand them a bit more clearly.

  • Canada will be out of Afghanistan by the end of 2011.

  • care to elaborate?

  • Canadian Prime Minister Harper extended the countries military mission in Afghanistan til 2011 with very little support from the Canadian people. The next election will tell the tale, though.

Afghanistan is very unpopular with the Canadian people. Poles show that Canadians, by in large, feel they have been lied to by the Bush admin and created more enemies then it's worth.

I personally feel that it's a mess that should have been cleaned-up after the Rusians left in 87.

  • I live in Canada too, I don't think Canada will leave before NATO as a whole leaves and that will be when Obama decides. What do you mean by "mess being cleaned-up"? Do you support the war and nation building or the country should have been left alone and ignored?

  • I wish the television media would stop covering celebrities and start covering Afghanistan in a sophisticated way now that we have rational people in the White House.

  • Those who voted for Obama got what you deserved. Lies. No health-care, No improvement to the economy, more troops, not less in Iraq and Afghanistan, and certainly no pull out of troops in those places. What has he done? Things are worse than ever in the U.S. A wolf in sheeps clothing. Don't get sick, don't lose your job, don't send your kid to those hell holes, Obama will not help you.

  • Mcain/palin would've been worse..

but yea, US system is broken and filled with crooks

  • I stopped paying attention to my country months ago, it's a lost-fucking-cause

  • ROFL...

  • truth / humanity / world is not important in America

    but

    INTEREST / BENEFIT and PROFIT...

the rest of the world will keep beating the bush. USA didn't change for last centuries and not changing it anytime soon. Obama is just a face lift, botox and little bit of makeup.

  • I want our soldiers out, but what the fuck. Sometimes you have to fight. An economic solution? A cultural solution?

If a tree is falling on your house and you can maybe keep it off or redirect it, half way through the defense is no time to blame the weather, or yourself for cutting it down, or the ground for being too permeated... And if you've cut your neighbors tree down and decide to walk away ass it crushes his house?

That ain't America.... We're in it now...

  • isn't al jazeera owned by a royal family?

Not so sure this is very progressive.

  • nah the royal family just helped in establishing their first HQ in his country. they make money by ads and selling subscriptions

  • I thought they were given money/subsidized by the Emir on a annual basis?

I know at least 40% of their $ comes from advertising and I'm sure its improved some over the years if only minimally but forgive me I don't condsider it progressive nor accurate on many issues in the ME.

  • He speaks truth

  • I keep wondering where they get these almost even surveys on the war opinions in iraq, do an even half REALLY support the war? From what I hear around me sounds like very little, probably less than 20% even support some part of the war.

  • I still think it is a riot that al jazeera english is not allowed on american cable/satellite channels

  • @spits32 What you don't understand is, first off..Aljazeera is based in Qatar, where the US biggest base in ME located, secondly "Angalosaxon" worships money regardless who owns the company..Even Bin Laden Himself...

  • I would totally agree with pulling out of Afghanistan if an unstable Pakistan with what 50-60 nukes wasn't in the mix.

I think they almost lost it a few months ago and are still in doubt now. That f'ing Bush and Neocon team put us in very bad spot worldwide.

And I still have to see Cheney on TV even now spouting his BS. Greedy traitors.

  • hmmm lets see- obama and bush work for the same guys so nothing will change as long as money is to be made from killing muslims...

  • The American public makes money from killing muslims? Or are you saying that Obama and Bush work(ed) for someone else?

  • NO hell no if anything the american public LOSES money and a LOT of money in these wars- what i'm saying is that obama and bush work for the same people that are using your taxes to make a hell of a profit killing people...bush=obama we haven't seen REAL change is change of action only seen change of tone and change of skin colour...

  • Obama should be a big enough man to say, oops, my bad, actually we don't need to fight this war.

That would be a courageous move--and a popular one.

  • What do mean? A puppet like Obama would never do that? Plus, how would the U.S. make any money? Keep in mind that the U.S. is in Afphanistan to profit from drugs. They are there to sell heroin, and also to set up bases in the Middle East for the war with Iran in the near future. Did you know that the sale of heroin went up 98% since the soldiers have been down there?

  • Your statement is sad.....but true.

  • Obama is disappointing but he can still do something. We are we Afghanistan because of Pakistan. Ha ha

  • "we are in"

  • Whoever is giving you a negative on your post are just blind to the facts or US government operatives.

Opium distribution is up 12 fold and now the US media is saying they need to sell the drugs to keep the locals alive and not to let the opium fall under the taliban warlords even though there where destroying the fields.
