  • and to me??

(the intro) makes me remember "hold ya head" of bob marley ft. Notorious B.I.G.

  • Fans of MGMT need to check out Trust The Piper by Howard Hues. fucking WILD

  • @iamnothowardhues

    That's cool!

  • i love him................................<3

  • Gli MGMT sono una delle cose più belle del nostro secolo....dio che spettacolo!!! Grazie per il video <3

  • 2:33 :) I just want to cuddle him!!!!

  • i got no words for their awesomeness..

  • i god no words for their awesomeness..

  • "sounds like a college-dorm experiment gone horribly right" - so true

  • its the new beatles

  • <333

  • I've heard them better live though :( ehhh, they still rock! :P

  • MGMT are awesome.

  • it is like America with Floyd and Gong, like the 70s in the 2000s, with a structure built of stereotypical choices, nothing new, but very good

  • Comment removed

  • Muito bom!

Bebe da veia dos melhores.., se sairam fantásticos nos instrumentos e afiadíssimos na letra.

  • I couldn't get this song out of my head the day after coming down from the worst acid trip. It was so haunting and depressing.

  • i agree

  • i agree, i would rather watch the music video or a photo in place of visuals

  • Sounds pretty good for it being a live version, though I'm not sure about the cheapening of experience comment.

  • 3:29 has almost the same chord progression as the coda to Hey Jude, which is why it sounds so epic. :D

  • i like the remix of this too :D

  • They kinda remind me of a newer jeneration of pink floyd

  • @08djmc Nah, no way. Pink floyd are way over them. But Mgmt are great in this age, and who knows? Maybe they will become even better in the future. However their new album was really not what I was expecting.

  • @08djmc

Early Syd Barrett era Floyd...perhaps a tad, yeah...but nothing like what Floyd became...which was pure genius. However, this is a good band by today's standards.

  • @08djmc thats not how u spell generation, and wtf.

  • @08djmc And also Ween...

  • @08djmc how did this get 26 thumbs up? you can't even spell

  • eat shit

    john archer

    Saracee

quit comparing everything and just listen you fucking morons

    thanks

  • I like this better then their techno. Just sayin.

  • Beatles + Alice Cooper + David Bowie + Led Zeppelin + Pink Floyd + Kiss + Sex Pistol + Cindy Lauper + Coldplay + GreenDay + Britney Spears + ... = MGMT !!!!

    Simples!!!!

    HIPPIE + POP + ROCK + PUNK !!!

    ES-PE-TA-CU-LAR!!!! ADOREI!!! AMEI!!!

  • his voice.

  • sounds good for being live..would like to go see these guys in person

  • this song is fucking awsome!

  • thats actually my least favorite song by them

  • why? then what's your favorite?

  • I still like the song

but my favorite would probably be the youth or time to pretend

  • oh yeah those are great too but kids is my favorite

  • teamhowdy,

Appreciate music beyond just synths and electronica...this is less LIKE most MGMT than their others, but in terms of elegance and complexity, it's astounding...all the angles of melody and the huge array of chords and melodies, and the tons of shifts to rythm, the way the song has 3 separate suites of sound, lyrics that have astounding depth....no it's not a danceable bootyshaking track, but it's a bowie-esque zeppelin-esque flaminglips-esque masterpiece retro rock orgasm.

  • my comment was actually refering to the song kids I said that kids was my least favorite after someone said that kids Is by far their best song.

ya I totally agree with everything you said

this is really one of my favorite songs by them

  • Comment removed

  • wow theyre great live =]

  • hi !! discover all the videos of humor of thetreizebrothers

  • I have to go on their show!

    they are amazing!

  • they're so goood live :D

  • Wtf when did they Come to Houston??? Ahhhh I Cant Believe i mist That :[

  • You mist it? Did you spray it with water?

  • he played in the city i live in on my birthday and i didn't even know :(

  • snowsbeauty5 , exactly!

This is what I think of most songs , people say what are they about ?

And this could mean ... i dunno someone died and you coundn't stop it maybe

but for ME ( sometimes it gets annoying to other people how i always talk about the enviroment ..) the world is changing kids are on internet and kids used to go outside to have fun now its facebook and YES i'm on the internet so that seems stupid .. but the internet is like a vortex that sucks you in

  • IMPORTANT...I haven't been to a concert since I was a teenager, many moons ago(going to see MGMT)!LOVE BEN and ANDREW! Can anyone tell me what ur allowed to take in with you? and what u can't take, or do? Thank you for any help.

  • Completly depends on the the venue some dont give a shit what youve got others do find out about the venue rather than broad spectrum of gigs

  • You're the only one that helped me,thank You! xox

  • I was at this, up front, SICK show

  • I want to see them livee!

  • CAN'T WAIT! I am soooo EXCITED!!! MGMT coming to BOSTON!!! Fenway Park with Paul McCartney!!!!

  • thats my old green stratocaster glad its gone to good use it was best bday gift i gave

  • can someone explain what this song is about. I really like the way it sounds but can't quite comprehend the lyrics

  • I think they are talking about going into other land a fighting for it.

  • Ben and Andrew really think people should just have fun with the music and not try to analyze what any of their songs mean. But I think they are GREAT writers and I do think there are meanings to there song.I guess what ever it means to you is what's important. xox

  • Evil S I yes to find a shore, A beach that doesn't quiver anymore, Where we can crush some plants to paint my walls, And I won't try to fight in the weekend wars Was I? I was to lazy to bathe Or paint or write or try to make a change. Now I can shoot a gun to kill my lunch And I don't have to love or think too much Instant battle plans written on the sidewalk Mental mystics in a twisted metal car Tried to amplify the sound of light and love
  • All these people who do these spam copy paste things i want to slit your throats with a sharp spoon STOP IT NOW

  • shit he's got a spoon, he's serious guys

i totally agree though, even with the spoon bit

  • wat

  • Live music ,is the best music♥

  • I wish i can understand what the lyrics meant cause this is one of my fav songs.

  • the lyrics are about a gamer and all he does is play video games

  • U sure?

  • Andrew and Ben have said that they want each person to interpret their songs in their own way and don't want people to think that their is a certain meaning to each song. They just want people to have fun and be happy:)

  • Who cares if they sound like another band?

Like all RnB songs doesnt sound the same?

  • the first time i heard this i was like woah that sounds like led zeppelin

  • sau schlecht des andere ist besser asi die schlechte qualit

  • Great song! I love this band. But does anyone else think of Radiohead when they hear this song? Either way it's an awesome song.

  • Radiohead? Hmm..maybe, but his shaky voice in some other songs sounds like Conor from Bright Eyes to me sometimes.

  • good band but ripoffs of the flaming lips

who were ripoffs of the butthole surfers

  • are you fucking retarded, if anything flaming lips is a rip off of this

  • considering flaming lips were much older than mgmt your argument made lots of sense

  • and he is a jackasscock so that also proves the point,

  • good god they r awesome and andrew is so fuckin' HOT

  • "Now I can shoot a gun to kill my lunch, and I won't have to love or think too much"

  • im naming a bag of dirty diapers after you

  • love this stuff<3<3

  • good on you! :)

  • they're lyrics are just so amazing. i love them and this is one of my favorite songs from them.

  • they're just the greatest thing that happened since...i don't know when.. but they're just awesome!!

  • great band nice song

  • haa, he sings perfectly live

    :) love MGMT

  • Of Moons, Birds & Monsters, the ending is like something taken straight off of Sgt. Pepper

  • awesome stufffff <33 mgmt!!

  • just fantastic

  • big Beatles influence. acid will do that to u

  • Ive just tabbed this song out. Check out the guitar pro version on ultimate guitar.

    Awesome song btw!

  • best music to blaze to ever!

  • similar Beatles sound

    good for them, dope song

  • christ has cursed our fathers and mother

might even take a knife to split a hill

or even scare the children of my lawn

giving us time to make the makeshift bombs

every mess invested was a score

    we coudnt use computers anymore

and its difficult to win unless you're bored

then we might have to plan for the Weekend Wars...

  • these are the right lyric. (:

Christ is cursed of faders and maders

Might even take a knife to split a hair

Or even scare the children off my lawn

Giving us time to make the makeshift bombs

Every mess invested was a scar

    We couldn't use computers anymore

It's difficult to win unless you're bored

And you might have to plan for the weekend wars

  • mgmt makes the best mellow music.

    the best in my generation.

im gonna be like 65 and listening to mgmt.

  • dope song.

  • sounds like john lennon kinda, and bowie

  • I think I like the fact that underneath their shiny, shin record they are just a band who sing their songs. Its quite down-to-earth in this age.

  • I cant tell if these guys are hacks or geniuses... They have 5 killer songs on their album. The rest is absolute crap.

  • i think he means killer, like awsome lol

  • i agree.. nothing like the killers.. but, i love both bands! :D

  • I wouldn't say that the rest is crap, but the fact they killed 5 songs out of 10 on the album is pretty sweet. Most albums have a number of weaker songs.

  • the only song on that album that i would consider weak is future reflections the rest are fantastic

  • future reflections is one of the best on the album

  • eh id say it ties with kids for worst on album for me anyway but none of the songs are bad songs on the album

  • yea man the first 5 on thw album are sick. then after kids plays usuallly i just put it back to 1

  • I am the same as you, except i just got into the handshake like CRAZY! Track 9 is fucking solid! I'm sure you've heard it but i think you should give it a listen, paying special attention to the lyrics. They are so deep and open to interpretation.

    Love it.

  • I think their lyrics are genius! I especially love the lyrics to Weekend Wars and have them on MySpace. I also LOVE the video to "Boogie Down!" I just went to see them in Boston and they sang The Handshake!"

  • mhmm, I'd say 7/10 are good, just those 2 songs that i added take a while to appreciate.

not to make a comparison, but take an early beatle record and you'll see even they had a handful of "throwaways" for the first few albums.

  • Andrew is very intelligent,he got practically all A's in school/college.Andrew has a great singing voice, Ben doesn't,but when they sing together their voices melt into a beautifully wrapped package, tied up with a Satin ribbon! They are genius, but maybe they have their down days like everybody else, or maybe they don't even want some of those song on the album but it's not up to them?-I don't know how that works actually.

  • favourite song on the album

  • same here dude! soo good

  • awesome tune +good quality vid-nice

  • i can finally listen to a band thats not from 40 yrs ago

  • Your all wrong, sounds like neil young

  • ooh yeah! it does sound like bowie, mixing with the beatles (psychedelic era) of the modern times, new hippies. i love mgmt.

  • there was a mgmt gig yesterday, here in brazil. i was there, it was loud like hell, we couldnt hear the voices quite well, but it was extremely beautiful! best gig of the year,to me

  • modest mouse mgmt dr dog and the beatles are the greatest bands everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • what the hell does "Evil S I yes to find a shore"?

  • love them all

  • the beatles live again!!!

this is the best thing ive heard in years!!!

  • I soooooooooooo agreeeeeee!!!

  • hes so fine!

  • yeah i think this sounds just like bowie

  • David Bowie?

  • yeah man thats bowie alright

  • I can't wait for them to being in france!

    Woooooohhhhhhhhh

    =D

  • how awesome is this band!!!

  • If you listen to Oracular Spectacular, you can hear little references to all different classic bands. Stones, Bowie, Dead, Rush, Zep, and lots of others. I just hope it's their own music and not made for them. because that would be GAY.

  • We can assume these are their own-written songs. No dumb-ass record label could think of something cool as this...or something.

  • I heard they write the music first and then write the lyrics. Most write the words to the song first and then the music to go along with it.They write all their songs.

  • When I first heard this song on the bonds commercial, I thought it was a Rolling Stones song I never heard. Really good song

  • what T-shirt commercial? Must be an american thing?

  • Australian commerical. search "bonds weekend wars" etc...

  • this whole vid is great quality

  • imo weekend wars is the best off ther album

    infact, every song is amazing!

  • I love that T shirt commercial! I always make my brother keep it on the same channel during commercials to i can hear this song! :P

    *downloads* & *adds on myspace*

  • actually commercial for Bonds t shirts

  • no way this guy sounds like bowie!

  • he sounds a bit like robert plant

a BIT not a lot but a bit.

  • Thank you, I was thinking the same thing today!

  • indeed! he has the robert plant tinge to his voice. i dont know how to explain it but a tinge.

  • lol thats tight.

  • my names andrew too lol

  • I love

  • this band rocks!

  • Even though I am somewhat cynical about another cynical hipster band from Brooklyn, this is one of the most beautiful songs I've listened to during these past few years. Shame it will remain a hidden gem... It deserves greater recognition... The lyrics are incredible poetry, even though the music is a Stones/Beatles ripoff.

  • a stones AND beatles rip off? wow...

  • I agree. Can't stop listening to it...

  • the song features in a commercial for bonds underwear here in Australia. That's a start (i guess)

  • i love u andrew!!!!!!!

  • magique!

  • mine toooooo :D love it

  • i love the ManaGeMenT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love the whole album!!......... mgmt rocks!!

  • They were unreal at oxegen!!! one of the best!!!! untill sum stupid bitch climbed up a big pole thing and they had to leave the stage for about 10 mins!! then they came back in and finishd with kids!

  • "there's a reason i don't win. i don't know how to begin."

that speaks to my fucking soul, i tell ya. i like how they end it here, instead of just letting it fading out after two repetitions.

  • Why cant all the music be like that? It will make the world smile and be happy!

MGMT, you are my fucking life!

    <3

  • remind me Bowie

  • favorite song from MGMT :D

  • MINE, TOO:)!

  • my favorite song on the album

  • I love this song!

  • oxegen this weekend!!!! cant wait to see mgmt theyl be cool!

  • your sooo luckey

  • i asked the same question, i'd think this song would be much more famous xD its great

right along with "Despite what you've been told - Two Gallants"

  • how comes this song isn't like more famous?

  • BOWIE!!
