Amazon and Pandora also say that its official release year was 2001

@mika30000 I'm gonna get a lot of thumbs down for saying this, but their new stuff really isn't that bad. Sure, it's not quite as intellectual, but you really can't expect a bands style to not evolve (although I know this is never fun if you fell in love with a band's original stuff)
I love Blame it on the Tetons, Dashboard, and Missed the Boat (as well as a few other) even if they're pretty different from this.
I'm not trying to argue, but I don't think these guys have sold out completely

I was and still am I huge nirvana, motion city, and killers fan. I wish I could say I found these guys from the radio or something but I found them on Pandora, and I'm pretty damn glad I did.

people have to remember this album was written when the guys were only about 17 or 18. I think its a great first effort!
Also, Every track on Long Drive, LCW, Building Nothing out of Something, and M&A is classic! :) can't beat those albums, you JUST CAN'T. What gets me is how much material they released from 1996 to 2000 alone. all those B sides on building nothing, the EP's etc. damn. These guys are genius!

@localdummiesguy i gotta ask why u people dont like the new music. the lyrics are just as good if u take the time to decode the meanings. the only real difference is the sound from the new editing and the new guitarist.

I cant even bring myself to listen to before the ship sank, it's good for people that like that stuff, just doesnt have the same feeling as the only stuff.

Lately I mainly listen to Interstate 8 sad sappy sucker and Long drive.
Im not disagreeing that A&M and LCW are their two best. But, those first album just have passion to them I havent heard anywhere else.

I don't mean to start shit, but you sound rather elitist...I wasn't aware you had cornered the market on Modest Mouse and everything affiliated with them, but apparently only YOU know what a true fan is....LOL...come on, dude. So if someone who has just picked up, say, Lonesome Crowded, and loves it, but just hasn't happened to hear this song, then they really don't LOVE modest mouse, huh? Your argument lacks clarity, and is rather persumptive...

I just think he kinda means that you haven't gotten the whole beauty that is this band without hearing this album. Which makes sense, I can't call myself a Beatles fan if i just listened to their stuff from Yellow Sub and newer.
