  • What's that a picture of in the upper right?

  • Is this song about getting directions from MapQuest?

  • I'm disappointed that Sad Sappy Sucker was the last Modest Mouse album I got... How could I have ignored it for so long!!!!!

  • Beautiful song. Thanks for the upload

  • Just got dumped. This song is wonderful.

  • It just doesnt get any better!

  • from what I've heard of the new stuff they have been playing, this next album is going to be bad ass! But to me the boys can do no wrong! I love all of their Albums and have a new fav song each day today it's Dark Center of the Universe:)

  • Finally I hear MM fans speaking the truth about this band. @ years ago I expressed disappointment in their latest efforts, especially @the ship had already sunk....And I got railed. I want them to stop with the 7 member crap and get back to basics. This is what they are good at. Im not one to say this about every band but this one ......should

  • @WhoIz1 I think they're only subpar release is We Were Dead honestly, and they do need to slim the band back down. Jeremiah Green is one of the greatest drummers out there, there's no reason for a 2nd drummer at all.

  • @cKunke2 i guess its to take the load off him. he was having a mental breakdown and almost left the band.

  • @Oriente7 Nah he actually did leave the band. He wasn't present for Good News at all

  • Such a awesome album Sad Sappy Suckers is <3 it

  • I was just curious what some modest mouse fans would think of my song Gravel Flowers. It's on my page.

    Sounds alot like early MM.

  • @urmacdonahue Pretty good.

  • without a doubt the best song in sappy sad sucker

  • does anyone know the instrument that plays at the end?

  • @indatrashkan pretty sure that's an accordion, or a harmonica. sounds like one of those just to me, maybe a track of each :/?

  • i first got into modest when i heard dramamine and shit luck they are by far the best in my head but they have soo many now and there good news album was weak and this new missd the boatis ok but i like nasty parler and about every album before good news

  • this album is from before Long Drive, right?

  • @alex93metallica before long drive and after uncle bunny faces and tube fruit

  • Modest Mouse Is the Greatest!

  • every day i look for more modest mouse music, and they have so many songs and

every day there music just gets better and better. Point A to point B

  • every day i look for more modest mouse music, and they have so many songs and every day there music just gets better and better. Just point A to point B

  • Mason Proper's song is better

  • life described in 2 minutes and 57 seconds

  • Point A To Point B oh I Know lots of points with no points in between, for me So lonely but never alone I know I'm at my house but I wish that I were at home Point A To Point B oh I know but no back passage scheduled for me Dig Hard don't try at all Dig hard Dig Hard Will get down on all fours and dig hard only you know you know how that broke only you know how only you know how that broke only time uh oh I've been working on the railroad time uh oh
  • sorry, forgot to split lines

  • This song gives me chills because of how bitterly true the lyrics are for me

  • just wondering...what album is this on?

  • @v00dochild22 its called "sad sappy sucker" songs written in 94,95 and the album i think released in 96 im looking at the cd booklet i cant really tell everything's hand written

  • @joydivisionthecure The album was written and recorded in 1994, but it wasn't released until 2001.

This Is A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About was released in 1996.

  • @joydivisionthecure It was released in 2001 after The Moon and Antarctica...

but the songs were recorded in 94-95 like you said. They put it on the shelf basically...

  • @evilvon Are you sure all of the songs were recorded in the 94-95 time frame? Some of them sound like they could have been recorded much earlier.

  • @joydivisionthecure well not to correct u on the spot but the way i've read it on Wikipedia (of all places) yea these songs were recorded in '94 & '95 and the album was going to be their debut album in the mid 90s, but it actually didn't get its official release until 2001. Amazon and Pandora also say that its official release year was 2001

do u own the album? i dont lol, but i really should buy it some time. it deserves my cash for it

  • @joydivisionthecure Because of delays, it got shelved and released in 2001 according to wikipedia!

  • @joydivisionthecure It was released in 2001 i think wasnt it? but made in 94-96

  • @joydivisionthecure ....so you have this album and your listening to it on youtube??????

  • @borocasanovo yes sure...are there rules.....listening rules....didnt know .....peace

  • @borocasanovo I'm pretty sure he put it on Youtube so others that don't have the album can listen to it. Be reasonable.

  • @dalleydawg thank u .....gez some people have nothing better to do than feel they should question the modivation of others actions that do not even effect them...and yes it was for others......thanks again

  • @joydivisionthecure "the opinions i dont give are the opionions i dont got"

  • @borocasanovo Who the hell cares how you listen, as long you hear it...

  • @joydivisionthecure the album was released in '01 according to wikipedia. if i remember right.

  • what hapend to this band seriously they were the choosen one !

  • @mika30000 THE TRUTHS GOOD OR BAD...HE STOPPED DRINKING AS MUCH NO MORE ALCOHOL TO FUEL THE PAINFUL FIRE WITHIN ISACC THAT GAVE US THESE MASTER PIECES

  • @joydivisionthecure What i heard they have problem with sony label so they cant really choose what they want to do as artist

  • @joydivisionthecure Why caps? Shit's just annoying man.

  • @joydivisionthecure he's still drinking... just go to a show...

  • @mika30000 they still have the occasional good song, but the good ones are a different kind of good.

  • @mika30000 I'm gonna get a lot of thumbs down for saying this, but their new stuff really isn't that bad. Sure, it's not quite as intellectual, but you really can't expect a bands style to not evolve (although I know this is never fun if you fell in love with a band's original stuff)

I love Blame it on the Tetons, Dashboard, and Missed the Boat (as well as a few other) even if they're pretty different from this.

I'm not trying to argue, but I don't think these guys have sold out completely

  • @GreyAlaska I'll throw myself out there with you. Modest Mouse is just as brilliant as they've ever been. Sure there sound has evolved, the lyrics aren't quite as droll and they've become mainstream (hipsters are the only party that find fault in this); but none of these truths qualify as inherent negatives.

There's a strong group of people that believe MM hasn't done anything good sine The Moon & Antarctica. Myself, and many others, don't agree. To each his own.

  • @Sugadaddy774 This band has done so much good since Moon... I don't see how anybody could ever think that.

  • Excellent

  • 0ldsc00lm0dest m0use f0 lifeee <3

  • a lot of good feelings and brilliance flarin in these comments (: <3

what's the pic in the vid? looks super old...

  • @Mycological its the cover their cd called sad sappy sucker .....the cd this song is from ...thanks for listening

  • is this from sad sappy sucker or another album? i have lots just missing a couple.

  • @DIGFOOL yes......from sad sappy sucker.... extremely worth tracking down

  • @joydivisionthecure cool, thanks. in case i gave the impression that i was a MM nube im not. i have all there albums but this one, interstate 8, and the fruit that ate itself.

one song im not sure u know about (unrealeased) that i like a lot is "nothing new". look it up if u haven't heard of it yet. itll probably lead u to other unknown songs from them.

  • @DIGFOOL dude interstate 8 isnt an album, its a song

  • @fuzzywalrus82 its an album 2... i just got it.... song list 1. interstate 8 2. all night diner 3. sleepwalking 4. tundra/ desert 5.edit the sad parts 6. beachside property 7. buttons to push the buttons 8. novocain stain 9. broke 10. positive/negative 11. edit the sad parts (yes again) it has a lot of songs from other albums but is the only one to have "edit the sad parts" and "buttons to push the buttons". it is also very expensive (4 a cd) but i just got it.
  • Comment removed

  • @fuzzywalrus82 yes it is, it's an EP.

  • so much beauty in this song, it reminds me of my life to much, god i wish i could get out, get away

  • I wish I could see them in concert and have their set list already decided.

Because if I could, I would have them play this song. Otherwise I'll probably never see them play it... The lyrics are so great in this.

  • the thing i love most about modest mouse is their lyrics, sometimes they make no sense but they still keep me thinking

  • I was and still am I huge nirvana, motion city, and killers fan. I wish I could say I found these guys from the radio or something but I found them on Pandora, and I'm pretty damn glad I did.

  • @CoinCrazy37 this album is worth tracking down or getting the mp3s if u cant find it message me ill get it for u......its as nesssary as the moon ans Antarctica

  • I have this album on vinyl in mint condition.

  • @Luigiman555 LUCKY!

  • @den220 It's so damn good

  • @Luigiman555 I'm Navy and dying to get stationed in Whidbey Island, WA. It'll def allow me to live the full MM experience. Maine was 2nd

  • @den220 Wait so you've never been to Washington? Wow you should definitely try to come here, I live in Olympia and I definitely think it kinda helped me to understand how Isaac Brock felt writing some of his songs. You know they actually recorded this album here in Olympia at the Dub Narcotic studios under the K records label (also located here), cool fact.

  • best song

  • Best Band Ever

  • 1 of my new fave bands,..

  • omg at the end i thought it was about to go to the song think long i was about to say :DDDD

  • This isn't even the same genre as nirvana so quit whining. MM and Nirvana both fucking rock, so just be happy you have good music to listen to

  • i seriously don't want to listen to anything else since I've started listening to them. they are coming to Knoxville July 18 I'm super stoked. I've always wanted to see them live. I've heard that they are sloppy but i mean come on. its modest mouse. defiantly the best band of all time.

  • wow ........ yes modest mouse>nirvana nirvana is good but highly overrated....modest mouse severly underrated and quite possibly the best band of this generation.

  • OOONNNNNLLLLYYYY YOOOUU KNOW HOW.

  • Lonesome is awesome but my favorite is This is a long drive...... my favorite song however is probably Karma's Payment Plan on The Fruit that Ate Itself.

  • Modest Mouse rocks, but their older songs are definately the best.

  • yes man lonesome rocks, if you havent already i suggest watching the untitled documentary on youtube. makes me feel like i know a lillte more about these mysterious guys!!!

  • Would you agree that Lonesome Crowded West is their best album?

  • Very much agreed....that one goes directly to the soul

  • i hate saying " oh this one is the best!" because they all fucking rock, but its up there.

  • "the best" Modest Mouse song is whichever song i am listening to at the moment.

I hate it when people argue about the best and worst m.m. songs, or how they do not like newer m.m...........all modest Mouse is the best all the time.

  • Exactly, none are superior over the other, and non are worse then the other, they are all equal, and the best.

  • which album?????

  • sad sappy sucker

  • seems old i'll try 2 find it on cd :)

  • it is from 2001 i think, but the songs are recorded in '93 or something

  • @Pewpewharhar

one of the weirdest and most unique albums i've ever owned.

    so great.

  • @rakuencallisto greatest modest mouse album. Really, beats LCW

  • good.

  • so lonely but never alone....i know im at my house but i wish that i was home.

    brilliant.

  • brilliant yes....yes

  • Much much love for posting my friend.

  • thank you for seeing things exactly the same...its rare....far... and few between...thank you

  • So lonely but never alone (I know)

I'm at my house but i wish that i were* at home.

    lol

  • hahahahaha

    my mistake.

  • lyrics are so real...

  • i like point a but not point b sometimes i have liked b but i often end up in point a completely satisified

why ask for point b thinking the grass there will be better than the grass of point a?

there are some things in life which you can't explain

i also like to remain in the "from", between or zwischen as the germans say

  • You're cool.

  • i completely agree seansean, such amazing lyrics put the mind and soul to ease in our hardest times in life, and out best...

  • great song and album, I likey!

  • we all likey

  • I think modest mouse both condemns, and saves. They condemn you to life, and save you from a false reality created by humans.

  • that description hits the nail right on the head

  • @SharpieTwoToner i personally like the dream.

  • @SharpieTwoToner

    What.

  • @Meowcow42 dont worry about it. O_O

  • @SharpieTwoToner fucking profound and i am totally sober at the moment ...thank you

  • @SharpieTwoToner such a false reality is this life is we are condemned to

  • dude talk about a band that has touched people on a personal level, people always say nirvana was like the most important band to youth, but they got nothing on MM

  • Comment removed

  • @SeanSeanSeanCanada

    completely agree.

  • @SeanSeanSeanCanada AMEN!!!

  • I can't stop crying. In a good way, "Modest Mouse Saves". I've never agreed with anything more in my life

  • 1:40 onwards sounds a bit like daniel johnston

  • My favorite song from them.

  • yes

  • modest mouse saves.

  • one of the more underrated mouse songs?

  • true dat.

  • Comment removed

  • this is there best album i think but its indie lo-fi sebadohish where there new stuff is good but lonsome crowded west is ther best" new "sounding album

  • "so lonely but never alone" so damn good.

  • Can you still get this album anywhere? I've heard that they don't sell this album anymore

  • I have seen Sad Sappy Sucker in record stores before. you just have to look around a little bit.

  • So damn beautiful

  • Modest Mouse certainly doesn't disappoint. Every song is amazing. The lyrics, the voice, the music. They're so great.

  • Accordion breakdown

    yes, yes yes yes yes

  • my favorite song! a fell in love with this song the first time i layed my ears on it. the lyrics are so.... i dont know contradictory perhaps? i dont know it amazing

    '

  • "In the past, talking present tense. Like a rickshaw getting pulled around by another rickshaw. "

Isaac loves irony. I've noticed tons of songs with it.

  • Yeah, that's what I love about their lyrics, the sort of sarcasm that goes along with it.

  • easily my fave modest mouse song of all time

  • are these new songs cus i cant tell the difference

  • no this is a very old song actually...

  • You can't tell the difference between the musical bliss that is old MM and the so-so modest mouse of new?

  • i wish itunes had this album...

    :(

  • Not much lol.

  • THIS SONG IS SO DAMN AWESOME!

  • this album is called sad sappy sucker and it's fucking amazing.

I purchased it when I was like 17 and it was way beyond anything else I had heard at the time and these guys were just bout the same age!

  • I know!

I bought this album about this time last year when I was 17.

It was crazy this was my favorite song on the album just everything on it seemed perfectly made.

There Drummer went to my High school actually.

  • Beaverton High? truly a great band, makes me want to hunt down their original EP

  • people have to remember this album was written when the guys were only about 17 or 18. I think its a great first effort!

Also, Every track on Long Drive, LCW, Building Nothing out of Something, and M&A is classic! :) can't beat those albums, you JUST CAN'T. What gets me is how much material they released from 1996 to 2000 alone. all those B sides on building nothing, the EP's etc. damn. These guys are genius!

  • @localdummiesguy i gotta ask why u people dont like the new music. the lyrics are just as good if u take the time to decode the meanings. the only real difference is the sound from the new editing and the new guitarist.

  • I'm at my house but I wish that I were at home.

  • is it even isaac brock singing it doesnt really sound like him

  • it is. it's just very young brock and very experimental.

  • it's a younger isaac. when he was 18

  • I cant even bring myself to listen to before the ship sank, it's good for people that like that stuff, just doesnt have the same feeling as the only stuff.

  • Lately I mainly listen to Interstate 8 sad sappy sucker and Long drive.

Im not disagreeing that A&M and LCW are their two best. But, those first album just have passion to them I havent heard anywhere else.

  • their new stuff is the sellout modest mouse

  • yep

  • I don't mean to start shit, but if you have not listened to this song or anything off of this album you are not really a real mouse fan.

  • i respect your free will to say that...but i do agree that if you have not heard this whole album you have never really heard "modest mouse"....peace

  • I don't mean to start shit, but you sound rather elitist...I wasn't aware you had cornered the market on Modest Mouse and everything affiliated with them, but apparently only YOU know what a true fan is....LOL...come on, dude. So if someone who has just picked up, say, Lonesome Crowded, and loves it, but just hasn't happened to hear this song, then they really don't LOVE modest mouse, huh? Your argument lacks clarity, and is rather persumptive...

  • I just think he kinda means that you haven't gotten the whole beauty that is this band without hearing this album. Which makes sense, I can't call myself a Beatles fan if i just listened to their stuff from Yellow Sub and newer.

  • That is what I meant.

  • This song rules.

  • que chida cancion, se escucha como algo triste pero es muy genial,,,

  • como se dice 'genial' in ingles?

  • C'est "brilliant" en Ingles
