I had an out of body experience practising Vipassana meditation back in 1990, having intensively practised for a year or so. Not that I was looking to have that experience, it just happened. I just observed the experience, I was alive with the awareness of sensations, then eventually I drifted back into my body. There was lightness and clarity of spirit in me at that time that would have allowed me to float outside myself. None of this is the goal of Vipassana, was just an experience.

It scares me to watch this because I had a out of body (NDE) Near death experience.(car crash) I was in a induced coma for a good amount of time. When I came to I went through some intense therapy and then a year of bio feed back and all that goes along with that entire Physiological and psychological trip. Going back reminds me that I will die one day. Simply put it frightens me to loose touch with all mental issues or family. Letting go in meditation is scarey.
