Exactly how do you derive a 'police state' from this? How do you jump from point A to point V? This administration is hell bent on treating this threat as a 'criminal act'. That is not what it is. They were picked up on the battlefield, not a coffee shop. And Brennan's numbers are not accurate. More than that return to attacking and fighting. Gitmo is far from the 'shady prison' you people continually paint it to be.

your argument is that we shouldn't let people free because there is a chance that they might turn around and try and harm us. That's absurd. Criminals released from prison may still commit crimes? Does that mean that all criminals should be locked away for life because a certain number of them will commit crimes after they are released?

Again, you jump from point A to point V. Terrorists/enemy combatants = apples, civilian criminals = oranges. And yes, some civilian criminals are kept in prison for life because they are presumed a future threat to society. second off, this is not nor has it ever been "a war"

1. we are not fighting any organized country,

2. we aren't going to sign any treaties.

3. most importantly , what exactly is the objected of the enemy? Destroy America in a quixotic mission? drive US's influence out of their country? seek vengeance for personal injustices, get money, go on an adventure? These people have no single army or objective. I like Brennan's statistics. He says we got 20% recidivism from Gitmo, and we got 50% recidivism in the criminal justice system. He would prefer the criminal justice system to try terrorists. Really great thinker. Se, we would get 50% instead of 20% blowing things up again.
