I'm a librarian, so let me just comment: The public library, more than any other public institution, does more to protect your free speech and the free flow of information and ideas than ANY OTHER government organization. Not many government organizations actively promote controversial intellectual works to the extent that libraries do. Furthermore, libraries provide you with the means to fuel public debate and discourse: unfettered access to information.
