I love the way this is an Oasis demo from before anyone even knew who they were... and yet, it's got more views than most bands songs will ever get. I love this song, one of their most under-appreciated songs, along with She's Electric, which is far and away the best song Noel had ever written...

@Sgtpepper212 Have you checked out the duet between those two on"Across The Universe" for example? John Lennon has been Liam's biggest idol (it was Ian Brown before that). Nowdays he's gotten so close to sounding like John Lennon as is possible for someone who isn't John Lennon. In this video Liam is clearly just Liam. But as the years passed, he became more like him. Especially in the last years. It's not just the age, Anyway now his pitch is limited, but he can still sing great at occations.

just fyi, the song's pitch is off. It's a little too high, happens alot. Live Forever, Shakermaker, this one, Married With Children, Slide Away all have this on the record. So he probably sounds a little higher than he actually did back then

The story is Digsy was drunk/drugged and while playing drums one night while hanging with Noel he started going into a rage screaming Lasagne repeatedly. Afterward Noel said he had a tune in his head and it had lasagne in it, he then said can I write a tune from that and call it Digsy's Dinner?

Digsy, thinking Noel was taking the piss, went and actually wrote this fucking classic!

i think its less cigarettes and more technique,

unless ur professionally trained to sing and know what ur doing, u can straing ur vocal chords, the way liam stands with his neck stretched up to the mic is very had especially doing large concerts like stadiums,,

i think that wrong technique, cigarettes and alcohole plus just age contributed to his voice,

but to me, its like wine, liams voice now is just mature, and something people appreciate if u know the early stuff

Thanks for posting this! Liam's performance on this version is great and reminds me of John Lennon's vocal on Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. The album version of Shakermaker has a similarly psychedelic vocal effect--a thin, high pitched sound with lots of echo on on sibilant T's and S's (listen to his delivery of Sifter). They did a great job recording that track.
