  • It looks so damn easy but when I try it to play as easy as sarah, it sounds terrible. :D

  • If I were the other violinist I would have just put my violin down in shame***

  • Fail: haberna

    Correct: Habanera

  • @paton1993 actually, this is also not the habanera...more than just a wrong spelling, the title is also wrong

  • Wow..... that's what I can only say

  • Waouw :D Tellement génial :D

  • in asiane madar qahbeh koja, Sarasate europi koja!

  • I am in awe... She was under so much pressure because of this performance in North Korea and was still able to pull off an amazing performance. Kudos to you Ms. Sarah Chang. ^_^

  • She's amazing..! Seriously.

  • I can't believe the power she gets on those low notes on the G string so amazing. She's so talented and incredibly hottt!

  • it is called habanera, right?

  • sarah chang makes this look easy, she is incredible and i luv her musicality

  • is this the one with north and south korean orchestras combined?

  • is this the one with north and south korean orchestras combined?

  • my favorite violinst playing one of my favoirte pieces!

  • jealousy is not so good for your health.

  • Superb playing, one of many great recordings of this familiar piece; hair raising stuff.

  • see make it look like it is so easy

  • Sarah Chang is a world superstar, currently the best violinist on the planet ,Best Looking as well !!

  • @underheifetz

I have had debates on another video as to who is the best current violinist at present ( living I may add !! )

Its a pointless exercise really ,as in life everyone has their own likes and dislikes By the way I saw Sarah 2 weeks ago live at the barbican, she played like an angel ,looked great and afterwards met all her fans and signed autographs .She looks a lot more slimmer and glamorous nowadays than in this video ,also such a nice person when you meet her , !!

  • @Underheifetz Subjective is subjective.

  • I absolutely adore Sarah Chang !!

Her playing is sensational ,she looks great and also has such a nice, warm and intelligent personality

  • she plays it so perfectly!

  • bravo!

  • It feels like her violin is singing

  • Wow.... The ease with which she plays that! Incredible!

  • it seems to me like she already invented the violin! ;) superb interpretation!

  • yep, she learnt this as a little child, she looked so cute playing it :)

  • I really enjoy looking at her while playing :)

    her emotions are amazing!

  • fantastic!

  • magnífico

  • The title should be "habanera".

  • VV VIOLINCELLISTA THATS NOT TRUE AT ALL! are you jokinggg me? you HAVE to be born with talent. sure she practiced a lot & a person with NO musical talent can practice all they want they wont make it anywhere.

  • lol, of course her perfection comes from practice, but she was also born musically talented.

  • I love this and i'm ordering and learning how to play it. I love tango style

  • Ordering? Ordering which? The Music Score? you may know already, but just to be sure, the title in this Video is wrong, it's not the name of the piece, nor does this video shows the entire piece. This is only the 2nd part of Pablo de Sarasate's "Carmen Fantasy (that's the correct name for the piece)

  • OMG.......

  • they say that an amateur will practice a piece, until they get it right,

a professional will practice a piece, until they can't get it wrong,

and then, there is SARAH CHANG,

how does one get to be that outstanding ??

  • Practice, passion, and patience. That's all it takes, for anything in life, really.

  • Know what? She first played this in a concert when she was only 9 years old... that's tells something... time... keep practicing... don't give up

  • she makes it look soooooo easy

  • PYUNG YANG NORTH KOREA

  • video is s very very good

  • Well... she was able to play this piece at the age of ten. I'm not surprised this sounds so good.

  • Nothing special for such good technical player....

  • "LA FALTA ES EL TOQUE LATINO"

in english- what is missing is the latin touch.

  • yea i agree, but i hav to admit, she has some talent to be able to play this piece

  • guess that's what you call putting feeling into the music.

  • wow, shes great .

  • hehe i like how she raises her eyebrows :) either way wonderful performance!!!

  • Bravo Sarah.

  • Please,change the name.

    This is habanera,not haberna.

  • This is carmen fantasy not habanera

  • habenera is part of carmen fantasy, dumb ass

  • I dont think so, habanera is not part of carmen fantasy at all, habanera is inspired in the habana (CUBA), carmen fantasy in carmen of bizet (Carmen was from SPAIN)

  • In some way, both of you is right. Habanera is a cuban musicial style, which reached the European continent in the 19th century. Nevertheless, this special habanera is part of Bizet's opera "Carmen", also known as the aria "L'amour est un oiseau rebelle".

  • Habanera is a part of carmen of Bizet, BUT habanera is another pieze of sarasate that dont belongs to carmen fantasy AT ALL

  • yeah, you're right, federasta22. I forgot to mention that Bizet's Habanera was just the basis of this piece of music. Nevertheless, he used the work published by Bizet as an inspiration for his work. Listen to both compositions and you will notice they have a lot in common. To say it does not belong to Carmen (Carmen was written by Bizet and Carmen Fantasy by Sarasate) is just half of the truth. It's not part of the same opera/composition, but it's still related.

  • Carmen is a French Opera buddy...Bizet himself was a French Composer and the movements are even French

  • Half right (the action of Carmen is in Spain), half wrong (Habanera is, indeed, one of the most popular arias in Bizet's opera...)

  • is this a part of carmen fantasy?

  • haberna değil oliiim habanera

  • haberna değil oliiim habanera

  • not her best performance. but she's good though.

  • she is great player

  • Y'est she is.

  • Uh no, the movements don't have names I believe. They probably just have the tempo eg. Allegro, Allegretto etc for each movement. =) Perhaps someone in the know could clarify this.

  • The piece is not Habanera. It's the 2nd movement in Sarasate's Carmen Fantasy.

  • Called...Habanera ?? :________D

  • Habanera is the name of another piece Sarasate wrote. It's not part of the Carmen Fantasy at all.

  • Are you all dreaming? (ok, you wrote those comments one year ago). Sarasate wrote this Fantasy based on Georges Bizet's music... And, of course, this extract is based on the Habanera aria... (L'amour est un oiseau rebelle etc.)

  • i just love this song when she plays it. i also love the part when it is 1:18. better sound then the first part

  • whoa she's so good.i play the violin myself but i ain't that good and io am asian. i am so not chinese

  • i love her playing, it's the smug look i'm seeing on her face i'm not so keen on :P but then maybe that's just the green glasses of envy :L

  • anybody think that she is more overly confident than when she was little??

  • why are you even comparing?? they are totally different in age!! so of course Perlman would have more experience!!

    =.=

  • i don't think she is overly confident, but when you play music you have to be confident in everything that you play or will never sound how you want it to sound. so, there is a reason she may seem like that. she's doing what she loves to do.

  • im sure your any better .

  • i didnt say i was...

  • she is not overly confident ! She said (on Korean talkshow) she never thought herself as a genius...(as many people call) She said if she was overly confident she would never come this far! Also, she commented her family members treat her as normal person.

  • amo como toca esta mujer el violin!!!!!1

  • When did this concert take place?

  • I'm pretty sure it was in Pyungyang, North Korea

  • en realidad no se que pasa, pero su sonido,a mi gusto, es feo,muy raspado y en realidad le falta el toque latino como dice el otro comentario

  • LE FALTA EL TOQUE LATINO

  • her playing is so classy. not cheap at all.

  • i didn't mean "cheap" at all! she is my favourite violint ever!

  • I like Gil Shaham's version a lot better... it's like she is not herself here when she is playing this Carmen Fantasy, I am surprised that she hasn't put enough charactor into this piece.

  • thanks for sharing.

  • this isn't habenera....

  • The piece is Carmen Fantasy, but this section is a Habanera section.

  • Ummm...yes it is.
