This had to be one of the best "road" Beach Boys groups, considering the lineup. Ed Carter, Billy Hinsche, the late Mike Meros, Jeffrey Foskett, and Bobby Figuroa...what kind of band fields a lineup of musicians and singers like that one? The late great Carl Wilson deserves credit for putting this group on the road, since he truly was the band leader for all those "road years". Who was doing the auxiliary percussion on this show? Mike Kowalski or otherwise? anyone?
Thanks for posting this version of the great Beach Boys classic. The sheet music for the original piano part on "Sail On Sailor" can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.
Billy has been one of those rock solid musicians who has ALWAYS added fullness to any musical configuration he's been part of. Ihad the pleasure of knowing him back in the '70s when I used to hang with the BBoys. Though I bailed from the entertainment industry, I've watched him mature as a musician. The term "unsung hero" definitely applies... or maybe that should be "sung hero?" LOL At any rate, The Beach Boys owe a LOT to Billy, Ricky Fataar and Blondie Chaplain for their sound at that point!
