@servantsthree There is nothing wrong with speeding songs up live. many professional sessionists do the same on purpose. even myself as a drummer gigging regularly. it creates a feeling of excitement and raw energy. its not as if he misses a beat or rushes the band. they are all still on the same place. nothing wrong with it. great band, great song, great performance \m/

as a percussionist myself, I think the drummer is fantastic! And I don't hear or see a mess, at all, coming from a professional standpoint. The group is amazing overall, and Jonas' vocals are simply mesmerizing. The guitars can be blazing and the drums slamming, and yet Jonas' voice remains calm and melodic. True art!

Yea the drummer is kinda messy here but still fucking great. He played pretty dead on at the recent show i saw them at, all while the sound techs were trying to make him laugh during a couple songs haha

At 2:21 the drummer is highly regretting playing the song faster than the album version. :( Love Katatonia though, and in the studio their drummer kicks ass, sad to see he's not as good live.

I honestly think they should do more songs like this.

After TGCD they drifted further away from their Doom Metal style, and this song is closer; I think they should try to focus more on faster and more stand alone lead guitar and drums, I know Anders can play much better as seen in Bloodbath.

Jonas vocals are already fucking god, wouldn't hurt to see a scream now and then though if he can still pull it off. XD

The Great Cold Distance (2006) just shows how Katatonia have become only better with time. Their style keeps evolving, expressing sorrow more successfully with every album. Leaders was the first single, I think, but the album included some unforgettable pieces as In The White, Consternation and Rusted. I haven't watched this DVD yet, but I'm sure it must be brutal.

My Twin was the first single and Leaders never was one. I think it was My Twin, Deliberation, and July. Speaking of In The White i would give my left nut to see that played live. Check out the remixes of that song and the b-sides from Great Cold Distance if you havn't yet. Unfurl defines Katatonia's sound. One of the best bands of the late 90's 2000's

Well this is the most heavy album but they used growls on the two first albums. Dance of December Soul and Brave Murder Day.

He only recorded the growls for Brave Murder Day, Jonas sang on DODS. He lost his growling voice in 95.

He actually lost it around 97. He recorded growling vocals for the first album of his short-lived side project October Tide, entitled 'Rain without end'. And, well... he sort of still has some growls left: they ended their gig here in Mexico City playing 'Without God' two years ago, Jonas KICKED ASS in that song!!

I must of caught them on an off night in Montreal opening for Moonspell. They had 0 stage presence...guitars weren't working. The bassist looks liek he wants to shoot himself and doesn't belong in the band. Singer is so bad live i couldn't believe it. The only band that is worse is Type 0 Negative live. But i seriously love them though. Must have been an off night. been listening to them forever!
