We really need to focus on what is wrong with this country and the Republicans are refusing to corroporate with the Democrats and this country needs to learn that the Republicans will always try to screw things up for the american people and by that I mean the poor
My goodness, is this a dumb discussion. The US is left leaning? The US media is left leaning? If that is the case then Australian, New Zealand, Canada and much of Europe is so much further to the left as to be on another planet. This guy Ratigan seems to shock his interviewers, particularly the conservatives, by forcing them to drop their scripts and answer questions.
America is very left leaning not center right. If every single adult citizen had to vote there would probably be no more far right Republican presidents ever again.
America is NOT left leaning. Only the media is left leaning. Wait and see how the elections turn out later this year. We'll see how your "left leaners" fare. It won't be well.
Dylan is right. ALl the Democrats and Republicans play is gotcha politics. The party not in power dogs it and tries to sabotage everything so they have something to bitch about when the election comes around. How is that representing the American People? They only care about promoting their interests and careers.
What IS the point of having a former Bush lackey on the air? The Bush administration was a complete and utter failure. The Bush administration was corrupt, sleazy and incompetent. They lied this country into a war, added HUGE deficits to the economy and engaged in torture. So many in the Bush administration , like Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld are war criminals.
The Bush administration was a goldmine for Political Comedians, Gun Manufacturers, Liars and Fox TV. Although there was a great overlap over the last two.
@Paolo7219 The anti-war/MoveOn.Org types have an incredible amount of blood on their hands, if the world had listened to them, Saddam Hussein would've taken Kuwait, the genocide in Rwanda would've been greater and the massacre at Srebrenica would've much more than 3,000. Those anti-war loons that babble inanely and idlely about war crimes need to wake-up to the fact that their surrender and withdrawal tactics are masochistic, and the tactics are being offered by sadists.
@MattSingh1 -- Blah-Blah-Blah. Your strawman nonsense only impresses other history-deficient faux-patriotic loons who lack curiousity, interest or motivation to have more than a paper-thin superficial grasp of current world events. This allows you to indulge in fantasy-projection apologies for US's venal treachery waging war to suit the agenda of a minority elite who have conspired to subvert democracy. The backdrop of Yugoslavia was US-led economic sabotage over YEARS, provoking civil strife...
@starmanskye If you're accusing me of stating that Fascist theocrats are the enemy, and an inferior civilianisation, then yes, I'm guilty as charged. This struggle should've been a cause for the secular left, but they've failed, and willingly failed at that. This isn't a struggle that one can simply sit-out, I DO support the rights of homosexual not to be stoned to death, I DON'T support the throwing of acid in unveiled women etc. Your lot has failed this test sir, and it's disgraceful.
@Paolo7219 There are four conditions in which a sate concedes its sovereignty; (1). If a state is harbouring or sponsoring terrorists/terrorism; (2) If a state is trying to acquire WMDs, or violating the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty; (3) If a state is planning or has carried-out genocide; (4) If a state has invaded a sovereign nation. Iraq was guilty of ALL FOUR, and on the genocide point, the Genocide Convention ACTUALLY MANDATES a state guilty of the crime to be either stopped or punished.
@MattSingh1 -- Are you even remotely aware of your hypocrisy in lambasting Iraq while completely ignoring the US's OWN complicity in these 'conditions' that are several THOUSAND times more severe than ANYTHING that Iraq might have done? Americans like you who are so willfully ignorant & uninformed, relying on an oversimplified distortion of exceptionalism to justify the outrageous warcrimes & treachery of US foreign policy are a symptom of why America has lost its honour & dignity. Shame on You!
@starmanskye Typical Chomski-ite; blame American first. In fact, sir, I could label and expand on the US crimes in Iraq, Iran and Vietnam but you make the same mistake all anti-war masochists make- because we've committed crimes in the region before, that means we can't correct those mistakes now. Typical whimpering, no-good slogans from the surrender and withdrawal types. Oh, and I'm not American, I was born in Canada to an English mother and an Indian father, thanks (cont)
@starmanskye I could, in fact sir, relay to you the Al-Anfal campaign in which genocide was waged against the Kurds of Northern Iraq using American weaponry, much to our shame. The difference between myself and the likes of you, is that I think it’s a positive step to dispose dictators and support democracy, obviously some others preferred it the other way around because then simple-minded anti-war popularism was easy to justify.
@Paolo7219 I think we can blame more than "Bush" administration for all of this. It's been happening for decades not just a couple presidential terms. :)
@MrVTECKiller yeah, but he was the epitome of Ronald Reagan to the 10th degree. What he did in deficit spending added up to more than all presidents before him combined.
In this video he certainly played the role of journalist very well. He didn't cease to ask questions, and he presented a fair interpretation of the situation.
The simple fact is, Republicans can't justify the fact that they're holding up legislation. When Dylan exposes this, you probably see him as liberal. There is nothing liberal about seeing where this debate has gone. There is no liberal bias behind seeing that liberals have put forth the ideas, and conservatives have obstructed them.
@xdir- I guess that's why people from other nations come HERE for medical care, including a high ranking Canadian politician who recently went to Miami for heart surgery. The most innovation and best healthcare is right here. Until the Dems don't start considering logical alternatives like tort reform and selling across state lines.
@diosnake tort reform is a b.s. issue made up by conservatives. there are no "frivolous lawsuits" for the most part. frivolous lawsuits are thown out pretty quickly, with the plaintff paying the defendant's atty's fees and costs. stop making up b.s. issues, and maybe the dems will have a chance to fix things. thnx
isaachaze-the only people opposed to tort reform are the ambulance chasers. Its moronic to not consider it.......and the progressives still won't listen to selling across state lines. None of them know anything about business or economics. Just a bunch of lawyers.
uh, no, other people opposed to tort reform are just regular people, who want to have some remedy available if a doctor amputes the wrong leg of one of their family members or negligently causes the death of someone in their family. i guess people that don't give a shit about their family members want tort reform, so you have me there. good luck to you
@diosnake screw tort reform most Americans dont want no tort reform after hearing about the horror stories about doctors leaving their instruments in people and sometimes they even amputate a wrong limb. The only people that want tort reform are the 10% Rush Limbaugh crowd.
That's ridiculous. So one time in how many million operations there's gross negligance and you are going to build your point on that? Most Americans want lowered HC costs and when we put limits on lawsuits, we get the malpractice premiums down which will ultimately result in lower costs. Why should we let some moron who spills McDonalds coffee on herself hit the lottery? Insane.
That comment is rubbish. xdir said it best. Nobody can afford the best health care right now, which is what you're flounting about so rabidly.
What you fail to see is that tort reform is a universally liked idea. It is not just Republicans behind it. Obama himself said he would rather see tort reform in a bill if it would bring Republicans to an agreement.
Selling across state lines only empowers the biggest HMO's to get even bigger. Part of the problem we want to fix, not create.
Im a fan of Dylan Ratigan and i don't know why anyone (the guy who posted this) wouldnt be. He is the best on news right now and is has done a great job on revealing many of the economic theft and misinformation out there...
Dylan Ratigan is the best on cable news right now, there is no competition out there... nobody comes close to being on point like he is. He leaves everyone behind in the dust...
@daveho77 Are you kidding me? I love them both! However, Rich Santelli is on CNBC and I don't tune in there very often though when I do it tends to be to listen to Fast Money because it fits into my day best. But you are right, Santelli is a force to contend with! a sharp guy.
Im going to start watching this guy more, seeing him right now in this morning and caught my attention when he put a politician in its place and called him out on how he defends big companies and not the taxpayer, just like you said hehe
omfg! Dylan Ratigan raises the bar for journalism in America! I love how he doesn't let politicians and commentators get away with their normal bs answers!
We need to get more involved. In the commet section of my profile you will find several ways in which you can do just that including phone numbers, petitions and so much more. We can NOT let the lunatics run the asylum.
I'm sick of the "center-right" bullshit -- no, we're a CENTER-LEFT country... duh! The voters put Democrats in control of the White House, Congress, majority of governships, & state legislatures. Democrats outnumber Repiglickens in voter registration, also
lol i was gonna post the same, America is a lot more left then right, you only have to see the margins with which Obama & Clinton won compared to GW Bush, Bush did not win the popular vote in 2000 and the 2004 victory was very close, if America initiated true democracy ie counting every vote instead of electoral college the republicans will never get into power.
America is realistically right-wing compared to most industrialized nations. It's why it also has a worse health care system than every other industrialized nation.
No America is more Left Wing then most European nations, its Democracy is flawed.
California has a population of 36million but only has 2 Senators, which means it has the same power in the Senate as Wyoming a State with 500k people.
You could call it a lie, but why not explain your point of view with data instead.
My point about flawed democracy is right, the Senate was created so that states would have a voice in Central Govt, it was anticipated the Senators would be independent and vote for the good of their states not along party lines, the have delegated their argument to political parties or lobbyists and are more concerned about their own future then the tasks at hand, ie Evan Bayh
democrats will have to realize that they are doing politics letting the belif that two party system works in the benefits for them.

uh, no, other people opposed to tort reform are just regular people, who want to have some remedy available if a doctor amputes the wrong leg of one of their family members or negligently causes the death of someone in their family. i guess people that don't give a shit about their family members want tort reform, so you have me there. good luck to you
isaachaze1 1 year ago
@diosnake screw tort reform most Americans dont want no tort reform after hearing about the horror stories about doctors leaving their instruments in people and sometimes they even amputate a wrong limb. The only people that want tort reform are the 10% Rush Limbaugh crowd.

@aptex
Insane.
diosnake 1 year ago
That comment is rubbish. xdir said it best. Nobody can afford the best health care right now, which is what you're flounting about so rabidly.
What you fail to see is that tort reform is a universally liked idea. It is not just Republicans behind it. Obama himself said he would rather see tort reform in a bill if it would bring Republicans to an agreement.
Selling across state lines only empowers the biggest HMO's to get even bigger. Part of the problem we want to fix, not create.

@daveho77 Are you kidding me? I love them both! However, Rich Santelli is on CNBC and I don't tune in there very often though when I do it tends to be to listen to Fast Money because it fits into my day best. But you are right, Santelli is a force to contend with! a sharp guy.

I'm sick of the "center-right" bullshit -- no, we're a CENTER-LEFT country... duh! The voters put Democrats in control of the White House, Congress, majority of governships, & state legislatures. Democrats outnumber Repiglickens in voter registration, also
marcostar57 2 years ago 4
lol i was gonna post the same, America is a lot more left then right, you only have to see the margins with which Obama & Clinton won compared to GW Bush, Bush did not win the popular vote in 2000 and the 2004 victory was very close, if America initiated true democracy ie counting every vote instead of electoral college the republicans will never get into power.
xdir 2 years ago 2
@xdir
America is realistically right-wing compared to most industrialized nations. It's why it also has a worse health care system than every other industrialized nation.
nafaidni 1 year ago 3
No America is more Left Wing then most European nations, its Democracy is flawed.
California has a population of 36million but only has 2 Senators, which means it has the same power in the Senate as Wyoming a State with 500k people.
xdir 1 year ago
@xdir That's the most damn lie I've heard among a sea of damn lies.
jotunobsidianeyes 1 year ago
You could call it a lie, but why not explain your point of view with data instead.
My point about flawed democracy is right, the Senate was created so that states would have a voice in Central Govt, it was anticipated the Senators would be independent and vote for the good of their states not along party lines, the have delegated their argument to political parties or lobbyists and are more concerned about their own future then the tasks at hand, ie Evan Bayh
