  • An Afghan convert to Christianity said that Christians were called to serve, at times at a very high cost.

"Thank you for coming to Afghanistan to serve my people," the Afghan said, addressing the hostages and other Korean Christians who had served in Afghanistan. "Thank you for letting the world know, 'Don't forget Afghanistan.' Your Afghan brothers in faith are praying for you daily."

  • even though its kinda late, im glad they're okay. it pisses me off how some people are bashing these christians for coming to their country and trying to spread the word of god.

we're SUPPOSED to be models of christ.. what's wrong with that? i don't like how people today are bashing on christians and how we supposedly try to "FORCE" people into christianity.

i believe these christians had the guts to do what no other follower of god would do, and i admire them for that.

  • blessed those who tries to evangelize even knowing that death lies in front of them. the korean hostage had no fault nor should deserve death. NO ONE deserves to be forcefully murdered upon their own will. We all have our own beliefs and religious viewpoint, and we got to respect that ...and to the point where you kill a person for what they believe..its not right

  • I'm glad they're back.

  • I thank God for all this. This war between true believers in Christ and the Taliban. basically life vs. death. Thanks to every peacelovers out there, these Koreans come home safely. Thank You Lord.

  • Prayers answered!! I am so joyful in my heart and soul that our precious brothers and sisters from south korea have been freed! I am from united states. know this: we are all ONE family under our Awesome God in heaven. We prayed, fasted and grieved alongside you here in the US. And when freed, tears of joy continue running down our faces. Praise God!!

Thank you! I am so glad you made it back. The two who were killed will long be remembered. God wastes nothing. God bless you always!

  • 2 were killed...though..The pastor..

  • the first such happiness striked in my life time when i heard all remaining 19 korean hostages are freed.thanks to all of the involved participants who helped through this disaster...seeking compensation from families member and their organization (church) from government is truely upto to the justics..i am contended what korean government intend to do so.cause it will really teach the moral lesson for all civilians not to do such kind of stupidity next time despite of government alerts..

  • Calling this stupidity is unrespectful to the hostages for helping the others without religious intention. I believe in the official statement about what they were doing in Afghanistan.

  • I feel happy too. But, the end consequences are still unknown. If their conditions of fleeing Taliban prisoners were met, more people could be harmed. For every single Taliban released, many innocents were threatened.

Their ignorant might indirectly costs ppl lives. Their missionary mission is for good, but those children that they taught might not survive in Muslim world if they practice Christianity. There is no freedom there.

  • Have no fear, for the Lord and the Father will not turn a deaf ear, to those of us who cry and pray out, in the names of these poor souls taken. I have faith in Jesus and God, that he will return his disciples to safety. In Jesus name, i pray. AMEN

  • The Lord is watching over them and will bring them hoome safely. I have faith in Jesus and the Father, for they both will NEVER turn a deaf ear,to the cries and prayers, will all so desperately speak. In Jesus name i pray. AMEN

  • They are all free today. WHOOHOOO. but the south korean government has to withdraw all its troops in afghanistan and suspend any missionary work by the end of the year

  • and we know that whatever happens we have to accept it, however we ask of you that you give these wonderful people more time to spread love around this decaying world. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

  • Our prayers are with those who are taken hostage. It took brave men and women to travel to a distant country just to aid their fellow brother or sister. We unite in prayers and ask that the Most High give us hope that these inspirational people make it to their families safely and unharmed. We do not know your divine plan,

  • Lord please help these people to safety. Lord I beg you. I am also a Korean Christian and please help them return home safely. PLEASE GOD! Help us o dear God. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

  • I could only wish I was as brave as this Missionaries, may God bless you, you are in our prayers.

  • [*]

  • God Bless these S. Koreans for their safe return,...i pray everyday for them, Amen.

  • This is a really sweet tribute to the Koreans.. I'll definitely continue to pray for their safe release and return back home.

  • father lord just please help these korean people. These people had come on a mission for you. I know jesus they to afghaistan for a reason they went to expand the christan's in the world, but it seemed that they have been hostaged. Jesus just please help these 23 people to get out safely back to korea, jesus i can trust you! you are the way truth and the life. These people need your help they are counting on your jesus. Jesus i know they will be free soon i belive in jesus name AMEN.

  • this is a yester day august 13th

i saw this i ni korea

  • Dear Whisper, Int'l Herald Tribute is also reputable as a news agency. There are some background info on the issue, for reference - w3 iht com/articles/2007/07/20/news/afghan.php

  • Dear spiderman833, I appreciate your concern, and I checked out the link from Herald Tribune. However, with respect, I didn't read anything that said this particular group was on an evangelical mission although some groups can be. In the article, it stated, "Oh Soo In, a church official, said that a group of Saemmul Presbyterian members in their 20s and 30s were in Afghanistan on a summer vacation, hoping to do volunteer work in hospitals in the southern city of Kandahar."

  • I agree that some groups in all faiths can become obnoxious and sometimes very hurtful in what they say but they shouldn't be killed. We must rise above violence. For example, you and I are having a respectful conversation even though we may disagree. I truly appreciate your concern and have approved the links so that others can read them. But, I hope that you can appreciate my view, too. Please pray for the hostages and all who want peace. Take care, Whisper!

  • Yes, Whisper, we may well differ somewhat in our stances and yet we both don't want to see non-militants be harmed. Let's just wish that the remnants of this group can return safely and that people who enter such troubled lands, be they aid workers, journalists, evangelists or otherwise, think thrice before implementing their plans of action in the future.

  • Dear "Whisper", please correct the video - the Koreans went into Afghanistan on an evangelical mission, contrary to your statement that they were "with no missionary intentions". Please refer to w3 hosanna-tod com/front/bin/ptdetail.phtml?Part=072507a&Rcg=5941 Thank you.

  • Dear hkspiderman833, except for my calls for prayers at the end of the video, all statements are from the official news release from Reuters, Yonhap News Agency, and the Associated Press that state: "Most of them are in their 20s and 30s and include nurses and English teachers. Yonhap News Agency said they were providing only free medical or educational services with no missionary intentions, echoing what President Roh Moo-hyun said in a nationally televised speech on Saturday."

  • Afghanistan, Aug 12 (AFP) Taliban said late Saturday they had freed two female South Korean hostages.

Taliban spokesman said they might not yet have arrived at the point where they would be handed over to authorities "due to some transportation difficulty.

  • GOD NEVER SLEEP.ALL HAPPEN IN HIS PLAN

  • nothing is more important than life. i just hope for their safe return

  • we are near to the great tribulation as the words of God said in the bible.tribulation is much more worse than this.Even Jesus Christ our God did not use his power during the time of his death he accepted the pain and death in the hands of none believers in exchange for love and forgiveness.

  • if they free the 23 prisoners in exchange of 20 hostages... more people are going to die soon. more bombings, killings, etc. anyway, if the taliban kill these korean hostages.. same thing could happen.., more bombings/killings/terrorism. May god/allah/jesus/buddah/who else? bless these hostages... damn.. war is the answer. we're living in hell anyway..

  • Thanks for being so strong guys. Let's continue to keep them in our thoughts and send positive and strong messages to them. Innocent people should not be punished for doing something out of the goodness of their hearts. I know the Talibans may not see how much they are destroying their own country by going against their own people, but they shall soon. "When we truly recognize the oneness of all humankind, our motivation to find peace will grow stronger." - Dalai Lama

  • So sad. Hope there was anything else I can do.

All I can do is to pray.

Hope things turn out well but the possibility of those people returning to Korea is very small.

The negotiation they are demanding is absurd.

  • *sniff sniff* a lot of those people go to my church.I am really worried because they might all die if something happens

  • which church do u go to, can u reply which church,,

  • These Koreans wanted to help the poor but been taken hostage by the taliban. What god had done to help them? These Koreans are christians who believe in the same highest god as muslims and jews. It is a shame that terrorist claim to fight in the name of god but it is nt true afterall. They fight for themselves but using the name of god.

  • The god of Islam and the God of Christians and Jews are not the same.

You can see that by this situation. When's the last time a bunch of Christians or Jews kidnapped a bunch of Muslims and killed/threatened to kill them?

That fact alone should tell you all you need to know.

  • One must bear in mind that there is a good chance they knew the risks and yet they went. That speaks well of them and indicates their faith was well founded. No matter what the outcome may be, God is with them and if we dont see them liberated, rest assured that their soulds are and will be free. Let all the Christians pray so that their faith is stronger and that their faith ministers to their Captors. May God bless the Hostages and their Captors.

  • I guess 'Asian Lives' are 'Cheaper' than 'Caucasian Lives'such as 1 Italian journalist, released. Not to mention 'Middle East Lives'such as Palestine,Iraq and now Afghanistan! Is it so so cheap that everyday and night that we woke-up and heard from latest news these 'poor ministers and presidents' heave with heavy heart and dumbfond; losing all those precious citizens!?Muslims or Non-Muslims

  • I am convinced that all hostages will come back safely now that Koreans are organizing such impressive candlelight vigils and respectable politicians are visiting the US to beg for help. A little bit of prayer will just do the trick. Amen.

  • Hope That The Koreans Can Come Back Safe And Sound

  • the most responsible for the evolving of terrorism is US ITSELF...the mother of inventor...so what is happening now to those innocence korean citizens being taken hostage by so called taliban, for this deeds US is the only to responsible....

i pray for the hostages for their safe release to their families back hoome.....

  • Taliban,God is seeing what u guys have done!!!The punishment ll come soon!!!

  • My prayers go out to those hostages.

    <3

  • hope they can come back safely, and do not go there anymore!!!!!

  • I agree. In theory.

  • Praise to the Lord. They are only slightly injured!

  • God has a reason for this. Perhaps, through this incident, these militants would come to know Jesus through these Christians. Let's pray that God would soften their hearts and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Let's just pray that they will be able to preach th Gospel of Christ. What matters is they (Hostages) received eternal life already.

  • Are those koreans mad or something.

The korea government has warned them not to go

    .But they did not listen.

missionizing in such an unsteady area,

  • my prayers go out to them.

  • let's pray for them and their parents...

  • Praying here in Singapore for the deliverance of my brothers and sisters in captivity and for their Taleban captors too, that their victims, even in their distress, will point them to the Way, the Truth and the Life that is Jesus Christ our Lord.

  • honestly ...I work for a human rights group in seoul & I hate koreans the way they treat migrant workers in korea but in these times I am praying for the safety of these korean hostages esp. the women. ISLAMIC world should condemn this barbaric acts by the talibans. If these women are hurt or killed...US & the rest of the world should wipe out this taliban race of this world...Meanwhile may God protect these korean hostages from harm...

  • let's pray for them...and their parents...

  • PRAYER CHANGES THINGS.

  • omg my mom's friend's younger brother is one of the hostages T_T please lets all pray that a miracle will happen through Jesus Christ.

  • damn dude that sucks!! well i hope they'll get out of that shit soon

  • No one has not seen what their good news is , but now the world are reciveing the bad news everyday . Ironically Jesus Christ !!

  • At first, including myself, a lot of people were saying why these Korean missionaries went to Afghanistan of all places. I was wrong, they knew the risks, and still went there to share Christ love. That's what it is, to spread the good news to all nation and languages. They're all in my daily prayers.

  • Praying doesn't change the world, but praying changes people, and people change the world. - Albert Einstein.

  • Praying doesn't change the world, but praying changes people, and people change the world. - Albert Einstein

  • I am not simpantisant of Taliban but why helpen koreans now the Afghanpeople? Want the Bush-administration that wil. Mozambique is poor than afghanistan.i am very unhappy for the koreans hostage. But they were in Afgh not alone for help, but also for preaching christinity in a islamic country as Afgh. and that isn't intellegence now aday. i pray for a nice solution for the Koreans.

  • who said praying don help?who said keeping candlelight vigils won't help?You...coldbloodedly think thru your own selfish understandings....trust me if you were one of them your very words will find you a contradictory if not you are really just plain ignorant to know what it feels like to be out there

  • trying to forgive trying to forget trying to understand trying will never work in my heart from this day and beyond the pain i feel is here to stay i will cry for everyone who is in pain please help us GOD!!!!!

  • I'm a korean and I am not a christian.

At the first time, I thought "They have guilty because they have gone to there where aren't allowed to go by SK government."

But, now... I think and pray that they have to go back to South Korea. A second Killed person brings many koreans to be shocked.

Actually, I'm very shocked about killing people easily, and I'm so scared about it.

  • pleading to taliban. i am crying when i see the video clip. although the hostages are of no relation to me... my heart is crying out for them. i guess my contribution is extremely insignificant. if you happen to see this. can u release them!!! from the bottom of my heart. i will be praying for the south koreans return. although i m not a christian. i will pray to buddha. may god give peace to the hearts of the parents and families of the hostages.

  • The SK government has no power in this kidnapping crisis because they have no power over the Afghan government (especially when it's not them who are holding the prisoners) - it is mainly up to the superpowers (mainly US) to intervene which it's not doing enough, apparently. This is very sad because innocent people are made victims of a war they took no part in - as is the case for any civilians across the world.

  • Those Taliban are already destined for an ETERNITY in hell, and their families will suffer for their discretions and murders.

  • Praying won't help, nor will candlelight vigils and the usual anti-US parades. President Roh is relectant to send Korean troops, but he is wrong, ill-informed and lame as usual. Either you watch the remaining hostages get murdered one by one by those bandits or take action to at least punish those bandits for killing innocent people who were there to help the Afghans. Send the Korean marines now!

  • This is horrible! Deadline is tomorrow! God bless them all! As an arab I think this is horrible & I`m ashamed! No wonder my family converted to a different religion other than islam!!! They are giving people a bad name to muslims, they obviously dont care.

  • i will pray for them....The Lord has eyes....He alwax has a plan....

God bless Korea & their people...

    Keep the faith & believe....

  • god bless you all friends and allow you to return home safely....i am so sad that two of you had to go...but don't dispair...you will be freed soon...God will not abandon you...we are all praying.

  • what are these things? the taliban? they are surely not humans...what are they? i can't believe that we human beings are living among these kind of creatures...they certainly look like us...but they are not like us...i am so sad that this poor guy had to die volunteering....God bless him and his family.

  • Dear GOD...please have mercy on their soul...please send them home safe to their family...

  • Koreans, please quit acting as victims for a change! For sure these things won't help: candlelight vigils, prayers, and anti-US blame games ignited by some netizens and parts of the Korean media.

Send your well-trained marines over there and try to release the hostages with force. Kill all of those taliban bandits and show for one time that no one can fuck with Korea.

Or will you choose to sit back with candles? And pray and blame the rest of the world?

  • Yes, whatever they are misionaris, not the same religion, it is really rude to kill them. They are nothing to do between Taliban and the Afghan Government. Oh My God... Yes, the government should see the hostiges as their children too. Suuucck!

  • You felt our pain at VT. Now we share yours.

Defective people ruin the world for the rest of us.

    You are in our prayers!

  • This is nothing but loss of innocent life in the game of capturing a country. May God bless them all

  • The Govt of Korea and Afganistan have to do something to release those hostages from Toaliben. Afgan Government need to do more cause those Koreans came for the sake of Afgan people. And in future korean govn dont allow any people to serve there till the peace has achieved.

  • i am moslem and i m very sad with this. may those korean be safe. taliban... taliban... what a suck they are. God will do His judgement.

  • Browsing through comments posted on Korean news media that are mostly negative and condemning toward hostages and their faith are truly baffling and saddening. I'm concerned of what these missionaries will have to put up with back home should they survive through this ordeal...

  • Kidnapping is not the only solution, you beloved Taliban. God surely be with those great hostages and their families. We will be praying for you in the name of Jesus, amen.

  • your comment is not helping...dont use the name of "JESUS" to soften the heart of these evil talibans, this is what's driving them evil against christians...

  • God bless all of them..

  • vtdoteduremember Let the God bless all of us.

  • just reported that another male was killed....

  • Listen in anyone that thinks the Taliban dont execute women,,ya didnt see the women headshot on the soccer fields?? or them women they have stoned to death over the years, keep praying for these hostages all you can,,but they alas are doomed i fear,,God protect them....Pete

  • R.I.P. Pastor Bae Hyung-kyu.

Taliban spokesman, Qari Mohammad Yousuf said his body had been dumped by the side of a road. He was returned to korea 5 days later with 10 bullet holes. Family says the funeral service will not take place until all captives are returned.

    Dear God, Please help them.

  • I am pretty confident that all females will be save. It seems that Taliban has notion that killing women or children are forbidden. Hopefully, its true. However, i'm not sure about those males, though. Lets pray for them to be save.

  • we musnt accept that is a good news.. Because mans have a soul also.. If your father was in this hostages what do you think??

  • true, so far the hostages killed were male

  • Heavenly Father:

I only ask for this: that our brothers and sisters may shine as true lights of the TRUTH of the saving power of Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection.

Like Paul and Silas, please give them a song of praise in this dark hour. Please comfort their families and give them a peace which passes all understanding.

Father, you are able to release them- without human assistance. It is the Taliban are hostages of islam. Let them experience the light of Christ. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

  • I am from Turkey and we all belive islam. But We think this koreans our sisters and our brothers.. Not our hostiges..

  • Continual Prayers going up to the throne of God from TheNarniaLampPost network. God Bless Afghanistan and it's peope.

  • OMG!Im Korean too and my parnts are so upset about it...I hate the terriosts!Evill crisis

  • plz..y the hell did one of the koreans have to get killed! fuck! plz save the rrest.

  • God...Please save the other 22 people of korean hostage...

  • Sobs* Please return safely...

  • Where is Jesus to save them?

  • You sounded like a Pharisee...beware...

  • He already has saved them.

  • Didn't Jesus himself die too?

  • Yes, but he's also risen.

  • Many Japanese sympathize for the citizens of South Korea in this crisis. The composure of south koreans we are witnessing is being admired by many of us. Our hopes and prayers for their safe return. Good luck.

  • my prayers are with the my fellow brothers and sisters...also their family. Lord please deliver them from evil and bring peace.

  • I pray for the hostages, and thier families. These are good innocent people.

  • guys i dont think america is doing anything about this !!well i may be wrong but plz pray for these brave ppl and y are ppl saying they should die??? wat did we do but help innocent lives in many countries???

  • All of Turkish with you.. We are waiting with anxious about Koreans and we waiting that Taliban release them safely..

  • save all of them... pray for all of them

  • They should be released, this is soo not right, how can ppl be so cold-hearted??

  • Mevlana is most biggest islamic scientist in Ottoman Empire and now I want to wrote words of Mevlana.

"Come, come again, whoever you are, come! Heathen, fire worshipper,Christian,Jews or idolatrous, come! Come even if you broke your penitence a hundred times, Ours is the portal of hope, come as you are"

This is real islamic idea. Islam advice friendship..

  • I sincerely pray that the other hostages are gonna be safe. One life has been lost, No idea where they got the idea that it's ok to kill innocent ppl as a muslim. Don't they realise that they're gonna be held accountable for everything they do in this life and that human life are suppose to be regarded as precious? (only expressing my opinion as a muslim.)

    - world peace please... -

  • We are all praying for the hostages'safe release. Please God, bring them back home safely to their families.

  • Why korean government can not respond to the requirements of taleban to save them? Most important thing is human life. God pls.

  • Why are people saying that the Koreans deserve to die?? They didnt do anything except trying to help the sick and the poor in afghanistan...

  • Hi.. I am fatih from Turkey and i am muslim..

I am very sad about korean people which Taliban captured them... :((( I hope Taliban dont kill anyone of them and release everybody to go Korea... I am very sad because korean and Turkish sisters and brothers... :(( I love Korea and i am very anxious now..

  • Hi, I am Korean... I am happy to hear this from Turkish that Korean and Turkish are brothers... Many Koreans think in that way too ^^

  • We die for you again Korea.....

  • I saw your mission in Afganistan through YouTube, article, newspaper,,,but i have some question about

your mode of mission,,,: learn the mode of mission from Mother Teresa! Any religion must incarnate in

word, culture, custom where you go in mission rispecting any mode of country, religion. It is very dangerous if you use a religion for your merit, yourself. Religione exist for human, happiness of human, peace on the earth,,,

  • God pls save them all.

Why korean government can not respond to the requirements of taleban to save them?

  • what is going on today in this world?

    this is madness

  • Islam, in the hands of very few people, have lost all is past glory and respect as a religion. Islam now protrays image of violence and sin. Extreme radicals have taken over Islam and the masses are too scared speak up. It is an ultimate shame as it may take many centuries for Islam to recover from such perception.

  • This is like a bunch of barbarians who slaughtering the living angels who still exist in this world. Taleban is trying to build an Utopia, however, sorry to say that no one in this world has the enough qualification to build that with our wicked minds. Sinners build sinful world. If there is no right judgement from above,we are just doing in vain and towards devastation. I'm Malaysian who are praying for the hostages' life.

  • I am wondering what is the US Military doing =_=... doing nothing or doing little...

  • "Violent means will give violent freedom...A good person will resist an evil system with his or her whole soul." - Mahatma Ghandi

  • In a civilized society, deportation would be the way to go.

  • The gift of human life is most precious of all things in this world. Who has this right to extinguish this gift from another, imposing himself as god over another? Why is it that people who express radical opinions on everything else besides their religious beliefs are tolerated? Is it because they hit an underlying nerve that doesn't want to be awakened?

NO ONE should be put to death by another opposing person because of his/her beliefs. It is an ignorant, wasteful, monstrous and unjust act.

  • Christians, Moslems, Jews, Hindus or Buddhists! They're human beings! Nobody has the right to play with human lives!

  • Powerful stuff...and great music too!

this just proves that the first casualty of war is innocence.

  • Very good video.

  • oh...i'm sorry...please don't apoligize me....that is just i have no idea using about u-tube and i can't understand simple english word....

  • I'm sorry that it took a little while to post your comments. I just checked my email and saw I had new comments to approve. Please accept my apologies.

  • how can i comment on this video?

  • Touched my heart.. I will keep them in my prayers.

  • but sadely.......many korean internet users say let them to die why did you go to afghanistan for only christian's mission and we has to tried stop you!! they know....no...they -wanted- the hostages are go to afghanistan only christian's mission and make them.

not only this one. if you against this, you can get to just like this respond "shut up christian!!"

that is not fair and unreason.

    whitch hunt is in korea.

(sorry. my english is so bad....)

  • i hope u rn't going against koreans or chirstians. peace to everyone. god bless u all.

  • I just said my prayers for the Korean hostages. I will keep on praying for them.

  • From The Beginning tot the End, it Touch my heart. We Will Do Pray for Them. The Music also very Good. Thanks Whisper. Amen

  • I loved the video. Surely the Taliban realize that they are holding peaceful non-militants. We can't sit by and let these innocent people be killed just for trying to help. I'll pass this video on and spread the word about this injustice. Thanks Whisper.

  • That was a Beautiful and touching plea whisper. I pray that the hostages are released swiftly and the problem is resolved peacefully. Amen.

  • I will keep all of the hostages and their families in my prayers. Very touching video, whisper!

  • Very good video, the music fits perfectly.
