hogan at tna is awesome! tna has all the old wwe people and wwe has all these new freaks with no personalitys and speech imparements like jack swagger and shamous, i think tna has better stars and should have a higher rating then .8!
Bret Hart gets cheated out of the title by Yokozuna. Hogan comes down and gets a title match. Salt to the eyes and a legdrop later, Hogan is the champ.
Hogan made Bret and Yoko look like fucking idiots. Refusing to give Bret a title shot after he got cheated, then made Yoko look like a jobber.
And people thought the ending of Wrestlemania 25 was bad.
I remember watching WM 9 live on tv!! the ending was BS!!! Hogan just stole the spotlight out of nowhere and made Bret and Yokozuna look pointless!!! WM9 wasn't the best one! other things sucked bad that night
I noted this in one of my Vlogs, but I am so far removed from the casual audience at this point. Because of this, I have no idea what the name Hulk Hogan means to the casual fan, let alone the non-fan. I worry that a lot of us inject our own bias as hardcore wrestling fans and fail to interpret what this means to the casual fanbase.
Hogan wasnt brought in to get guys over. He was brought in to get TNA out there. Not many ppl know about TNA. Only the diehard wrestling fan. I think TNA is pretty good right now but they need ppl to know they are there. Bringing in Hogan is one way to get them noticed. Once your casual wrestling fan tunes in and sees TNA is good they will continue to watch and the company will grow.
TNA needed a big push to get noticed. This is one way to get a lot of publicity and I believe its a smart move.
Dude, I disagree with something that you said, Sting DID put AJ Styles over in this year's Bound For Glory, altho probably not under the best circumstances and he might stick around in TNA for a little longer than planned, but AJ did beat him in that PPV's main event, and Sting basically passed to torch to him.
i agree hogan will help the company on the short term (ratings, brief mainstream exposure) but not the long term (young talent development, product quality, etc).
I was fooling myself when I thought TNA+Hogan= good. But I do know that TNA isn't going to fail like WCW. Just because it's the same people doesn't mean they will kill a promotion the same way. TNA never had a chance against WWE, and it's sad.
Just the fact of hogan wanting to come to tna after football season to have i guess you can say "bragging rights" for the ratings increase just gives that "oh no here we go again" feeling....i hope im wrong
Hogan is already showing his desire to ruin TNA. He's been telling everyone who will listen that he's running everything now. the ratings might go up but, quality will go down. everything goes to hell when you "let the inmates run the asylum". it sucks because I've been enjoying TNA lately and now it seems they've decided to become wcw part deux. man what has happened to wrestling? well mainstream wrestling at least.
Mono, I agree with you 200%. I've been a TNA fan for as long as I can remeber, and it kills me to see how bad TNA is at right now. The only thing that keeps me going with TNA is Styles, Joe, Daniels and MCMG. I'm rooting for TNA to succeed, but these vets that they keep signing are not doing anything for me. By now guys such as MCMG, Daniels, Joe, Lethal, Red, Styles should be huge megastars. But now they're mostly in there 30's and still being developed. I hope 2010 TNA will conquer...
the mere fact that i can't imagine hogan jobbing to younger talent no matter how far talented they are than him is reason alone for me to go skeptical/horrified at the thought that hogan is given TOTAL CREATIVE CONTROL. he is one of the reasons why political maneuvering and selfishness became tolerated attitudes in various locker rooms - because if you point a finger at him, it's useless because he can get away with it
If you owned a wrestling company you'll know that it all comes down to ratings. Many of us REAL WRESTLING FANS are tired of Cena but they keep him around the top cause kids look up to him as a superhero, and for the first time a wrestler has drawn in a womans fan club that look at him as a sex symbol. Batista is looked like the same way. In fact, anymore every wrestler in WWE is put in the picture as some sort of super human like they made hogan to be. In other words WWE is full of hulk hogans.
GIVE HOGAN IN TNA A CHANCE, I no hogan has done alot of negtives but to me hes not as bad as some make it seem. To not even give it a chance and make your mind up already on it just shows you want tna to fail.
Hulk Hogan is the most self-centered son of a bitch I have ever seen in the business. Immediately after being signed he states his desire to run the whole damn company. And you can bet no one is going to stop him as they will be intimidated by his veteran presence.
Hogan also won't be appearing live on TV until after the conclusion of the NFL season because he wants to take credit for the annual ratings boost for wrestling that occurs at that time of the year. Hence why despite TNA being horrible at the beginning of last year (aside from the Genesis PPV), their Impact ratings were higher than ever!
My reaction to Hogan coming to TNA was "WTF? How is TNA going to benefit from Hogan? Is TNA that desperate for ratings that they have to get a guy that doesn't draw as much as he used to back in the day?". I have a friend who's a big Hulk Hogan/nWo fan, and he found no point in Hulk Hogan coming to TNA. I bet Hogan would do more harm than good for the company. Just turn it into WCW.
Let's see now: Hogan is the most popular name in wrestling. Hogan put pro wrestling on the map. Hogan made Wrestlemania the spectacle that it is. I should respect Hogan for that but I don't. If there's one thing that will kill my respect for anyone, no matter how great their achievements: it's a bad attitude.
One of my philosophies is: "If you demand respect, you don't deserve respect." Nobody should feel guilty about disrespecting Hogan. The guy is a total dick.
In TNA's defense: (NOt Hogan's) I think it's common knowledge that TNA is going to do whatever will make them money. Unfortunately, when most people think pro wrestling, the first name to pop in their mind is Hulk Hogan. So TNA wanting to sign Hulk Hogan is understandable.
Now for a little Astone bashing, because that video was just plain stupid. Not to mention I never really liked Astone's attitude anyway. Despite everything Hogan has done, his attitude still sucks. Why should I respect that
Shawn Michaels not getting a win over Hogan didn't matter, as Shawn was already a legend at that point. It may have been selfish for Hogan to not want to lose to Shawn, but it's not like Shawn needed the win.
Orton on the other hand, I believe should have beaten Hogan, especially since Hogan realistically was too old to beat Orton.
Hogan wont last long if hes asked to put over talent! if he goes about beating everyone!! hes just going to make everyone look silly! Hogan has to be humble!! or as we all know! he will have issues and clear off
I am sure the Undertaker will help give a younger wrestler a push before he retires!! what could you do to help a young guy?? let a new talent beat your wrestlemania record!! I place my bet that Undertaker will do this :)
Hogan could easily use TNA as a tool to fuel his own ego and if that happens i won't be surprised in the least. I hope Dixie has enough sense to keep a close eye on what he does there.
speaking a lot of toff. Hulk in TNA will be good because hopefully he will change everything about the company as it has no one over who can draw money because everyone means nothing. Also Hulk is an entertaining personality, TNA needs entertaining personalities the most as 90% of the roster is lacking charisma and appeal past their wrestling ability. Wrestling isn't the biggest factor when it comes to pro wrestling, it may be to you personaly ona subjective level, but objecively it isn't.
... Again much like before, you always miss the point the video. I admitted this will help TNA in the ratings, the problem is product quality will either remain the same, or drop down. Hogan isn't even going to be wrestling., so how is he helping talent? And reason you don't get to see what a young guy can produce is because they aren't given the chance.
Aj is given the chance, Joe is given the chance Morgan loads of people in tna are given promo time and time to shine but they all are really un charismatic. Hulk helps the product from an entertainment stand point. Nash should have been used in a role where he rarely wrestles but is always on the mic cutting promos but he in't cause it's tna booking. product stinks more than a farm so Hulk Hogan coming in isn't a negative, if he doesn't wrestle then i really see no complaints even tho he should
Umm no, AJ is one of the few guys I'll give you, Morgan is a case of teasing us he'll be something, until they screwed him up... again. Morgan is charismatic, if you ever cared to watch his promos with Angle. As for Hogan, if he isn't going to wrestle and put over talent, then what's his purpose there other then a quick paycheck and helping ratings but not product quality? It's another TNA attempt to get ratings and nothing more. The complaints are justified.
Everything about Hulk improves product quality. You seem to be under the illusion that the TNA product is good and is drawing money. Its a shambles. Every quality Hulk has is what TNA needs, also a new booker but....
My god, I love the stupidity in this comment. This doesn't help product quality at all. This may help the success of this company, but not the quality of watching an entertaining product. Especially since Hogan can't do anything but segments. And when have I said TNA is good? I've lost hope with this company long ago, and guess what reason that would be? The fact TNA has a nag of hiring old talent that don't help the young talent at ALL with minor exceptions.
How does entertianment not help product quality. Why do you think the "yung talent" should the the 100% vocal point of the comapany? Aj Styles oes not have the all round ability to sell tickets to a mass audience at a main event level. Same with Joe unless used correctly which is minimal promo time, using his "shooter" gimik. Point being how can hulk hogan coming in be bad when TNA has no good on their Tv show and it isn't entertaining at all due to the booking and talent being boring and shit.
Hogan not being able to do anything other then segments, yea that's entertaining pff. Young talent will give this company identity, and what would happen if currently all the old talent got injured? Who'd take their place? Can't be the young talent because they haven't been put over. Hogan coming in is bad, because it doesn't give any good to TNA. The product will either remain sucking, or suck further.
the young talent hsn't been put over in 7 years that has nothing to do with hogan, they don't draw now so even if hulk came in for one month then fucked off it wouldn't hurt them in any way as everyone is worthless as it is.
But what is Hogan gonna contribute? How will he fix the problem? That would mean Hogan in TNA would be a waste of an investment. Again, everyone is justified to go after TNA for this.
